Thanks for an awesome job overall.

Where exactly are you seeing this?

| Contact History missing items Posted: 9/28/2007 7:13:08 AM | From Sent Messages, click "Check out your entire contact history HERE"
First and second pages shows: "Total Results: 34, Pages -->1 2 3 " and 12 pictures.
Third page shows only two pictures. Looks like the first two rows of four each are missing.
Thanks!! | |

| Contact History missing items Posted: 9/28/2007 11:18:17 AM | It could be a Combination of previously deleted Accounts and Users who have E-Mail Blocked you.
I have the same Deal too.
Likely the Database hasn't fully updated, or some Information has been left off.

| Contact History missing items Posted: 9/28/2007 5:07:41 PM | At least one of the missing is someone I swap email on a regular basis (within the last 12 hours or so). In fact, I discovered the issue when I went to find out how long I had been conversing with her.
I don't send anyone more than one or two messages without a positive response, so I think it unlikely I've been blocked by anyone. Besides, I'm way too sweet a guy for anyone to consider blocking me

| Contact History missing items Posted: 11/2/2009 11:17:38 AM | So to be clear, if you have anything less than 4 people in your contact history row, that means some person who should be in that row either deleted her profile or blocked you?
I have dozens of missing profiles in my contact history. Kind of scary.
My main concern was that my "women who might find you hot" search produced a woman's profile that I've seen numerous times but I assumed I'd already emailed her months or years ago and got no response. But I can't find her in my contact history. Now when someone BLOCKS you, you can't see his/her profile, correct? And obviously she didn't delete her profile either -- so it must be safe to email her, because I won't be bugging her with a redundant email and this has to be the first time I've ever emailed her, if she's not in my contacts, hasn't blocked me and hasn't deleted her profile.
Right? | |

If I read you right, are you suggesting that you may have less than 4 entries per row?
I've gone back 20 some pages, and there are always 4 entries per row. If someone leaves or blocks you, their position in that row should be filled by the next available profile that is still on the site and hasn't blocked you, or vice versa.

| Contact History missing items Posted: 11/2/2009 1:23:50 PM | That doesn't seem to be the way mine is working. For example, in the bottom row of page 2, there are only 3 women instead of 4. The blue section for each of those 3 is much wider than the blue sections for rows with 4 women. In other words, that page looks like this:
-x--x--x--x- -x--x--x--x- -x--x--x--x- --x---x---x--
And on page 3, the bottom row only has 1 woman. Actually, closely examining all pages, it is only the bottom row in each of them that is missing women, at least currently -- may have been different prior to the last first contact email I sent.
I honestly did not realize my view could be different from anyone else's -- I thought everyone had occasional rows of less than 4 people and that's how you know some contacts are missing.
On the other side, I only have 9 all-time first contacts from women, so the 9th one (or actually the first one but last now listed) has a row to herself for the time being. This looks exactly like my first contacts to women pages in which there is only one woman in the bottom row.
|
| Contact History missing items Posted: 11/2/2009 1:45:36 PM | And on page 3, the bottom row only has 1 woman. Try deleting your Temporary Internet Files, Cache, etc.
| Does it do that in Firefox as well? |

| Contact History missing items Posted: 11/2/2009 2:04:38 PM | I'll have to get back to you on Firefox because my computer at work only has internet explorer, but the other didn't do anything. I can't recall my contacts view not looking like that -- and I got new computers both at home and work at the end of 2008, and as best as I can remember, there were missing contacts from the first time I logged onto POF with each of them. Understand, nothing about my view looks distorted as if there was an issue with some computer settings. I just always assumed that if someone on my contacts list deleted her profile or blocked me or whatever, POF created a hole in the page to tell me someone was missing.
Is this in some way a big deal, or is it just a peculiar curiosity? I mean, my POF experience wouldn't be affected by such a thing, would it?

| Contact History missing items Posted: 11/2/2009 2:40:57 PM | I just always assumed that if someone on my contacts list deleted her profile or blocked me or whatever, POF created a hole in the page to tell me someone was missing. No. Then you could end up with Hundreds of half-full User Pages, and that would require more Resources.
If you are merely missing the Image of the User, then I'd say some Utility or Add-on you have installed has blocked it.
Is this in some way a big deal, or is it just a peculiar curiosity? Likely some sort of Browser Issue. The Page Layout is standard, same Code served everyone.
I mean, my POF experience wouldn't be affected by such a thing, would it?
| Shouldn't. |

| Contact History missing items Posted: 11/2/2009 4:58:08 PM | I'm not missing the image -- not in the cases I'm talking about. There are cases in which the image is missing, but that's simply because the user deleted all images but not the whole profile. (I'm sure they deleted the images as opposed to never having one as I can't recall a single case of me sending someone an email that didn't have a picture at the time.) Anyway, those don't change the number of contacts I have per row, if the pic is gone -- I still have 4 like everyone else.
I am home, btw. It seems unlikely to be my IE settings considering my home computer and work computer could not possibly have the same settings (I don't even think they are the same Windows and IE versions), and yet I still have 3 on the bottom row of the second page, 1 on the bottom row of the third page, and 3 again on the bottom of the 4th page. And Firefox is exactly the same.
I have trouble believing I'm the only person out of millions of users who has this view. I always knew I was unique, but this is ridiculous!

| Contact History missing items Posted: 11/2/2009 10:05:17 PM | | Have you changed how to get to contact history? My computer has been down for several weeks and I just got back on. I had mail and noticed their is no option for contact history anymore. I believe the way I found it before was when opening a message there was the blue option to click on "contact history"?? Thanks....you've made several changes in the last month I see. Several things look different... | |
|
| Contact History missing items Posted: 11/3/2009 2:23:53 AM | I believe the way I found it before was when opening a message there was the blue option to click on "contact history"? , then go to your Sent Msg/Outbox.
Directly under the Top Thumbnail Image Row you'll find this Body of Text.
| Hey if you see unread deleted don't be disappointed, some users (.01%) get 100 new emails a day if they have a great picture up. People like that don't have time to read your message even if they wanted to. Check out your entire contact history HERE |

| Contact History missing items Posted: 11/3/2009 5:45:12 AM | | That was one of the few changes that have been made recently that I find annoying (I think it happened when he started putting message boxes directly into the profiles and emails a couple weeks ago). I don't really like going into my sent folder -- it depresses me to see "read/deleted" and to have nothing in my inbox, so I almost never go there. So now I have to bookmark the contacts page separately from the regular POF bookmark to avoid looking at my sent files page, whereas previously all I had to do was open up an email to find my contacts history. | |
|
| Contact History missing items Posted: 11/3/2009 7:19:01 AM | | If a person has hidden their profile, they will not show up in your contacts history. I have a couple of friends that I trade mail with that have hidden profiles and this is true for each one of them. | |
|
| Contact History missing items Posted: 11/3/2009 7:42:51 AM | Holy frickin' mackerel -- I didn't know this existed. Wow.
I concur, hidden profiles must not show up. And, thanks for the 'heads up' on this feature...
|
| Contact History missing items Posted: 11/3/2009 10:33:45 AM | I think contact history is important enough that it should be somewhere on the main inbox page so it is easily found -- now it's twice as hard to find it as it was, and many people obviously still didn't know it even existed even when it was easier to find. You don't want to be "that guy" who sends the same woman multiple first contact emails. I've been on here heading toward 3 years -- I look at my first contacts from 2007 and barely remember any of them at all. Of course, maybe they don't remember me either (although, let's face it, I kinda stand out, for not so positive reasons), but still that just goes back to unnecessary wasted effort on this site: accidentally writing the same person who didn't like you the first time a second time. Yes, there's a method of prevention for that at least, but it's too difficult to find and not even something easy to search for in the forums unless you already know the term "contact history."
I'm not surprised that hidden profiles don't show up in your contact history either -- would really be no different than a deleted profile in that respect. I'm just trying to figure out why some of my profile pages have holes in them. Not that I really care that much. Heck, when I first posted in this thread, I didn't even realize that was an issue!
