Do you believe in ghosts?

I do. Alot of people think I am a nut but I think that ghosts hang around after death. I wouldn't want to guess all of the reasons but I think that they stay for the ones that they love or for what they have long since lost. Perhaps its a soul mourning or waiting for their release. I have seen one in my family's home and something found later in my family's home only cemented that I have indeed seen a ghost. Every christmas when I was a small girl myself I would come out into the hallway like any kid at christmas and look at the tree and presents and when I did one year I seen a young girl on the sofa in the livingroom. Plainly dressed holding her doll. I seen her every year after since then most often attributing it to lack of sleep or too much wine when I got older untill my father refinished our livingroom and in the doorframe was an old photo negative of a small girl, in plain dress in the front of our family's home. The only thing missing in that negative is the doll it is the girl I have seen since I was a kid. Sometimes we would joke when something would move in the house oh there goes henry our ghost! I reflect now that it was no henry it was a henriette.

Yes... and no.

Yes, because I have seen firsthand things that I could not fully explain, and the concept of a disembodied soul is about the closest I can come to describing them.

No, because I can't imagine anything more pitiable or sad than a soul with nowhere to go and nothing to do. I'd like to think this is an impossible existence, in the hopes that I do not end up as one of them.

Maybe they aren't all suffering though. There are so many tales of michevious ghosts some with humour. Like one of a small girl in a hotel who stacked tea cups and plates on top of eachother and made the only two occupants of that hotel decide it was time to leave.

I do

But I'm not sure what their "state" is.

Some seem to be echoes of intense emotion at the point of death. Some seem to just "visit".

I read somewhere that souls, spirits or whatever do not sense time like we do..so 1 day, or 100 years might not really mean anything to them. I think all find their way, eventually. I also read somewhere that some spirits refuse to believe they are dead...and that holds them here until they come to terms with it.

and some have unfinished business...

I have seen ghosts, or something I can't explain, but I haven't talked to one so I can only relate what I have heard.

Not really. I have seen her for a long time before the living quarters were dismantled and the negative was seen. Just found it the creepiest damn thing that I had always took her for a figment but there she was after the doorframe came all off and the doorjams ect were removed. Like it was meant to be tucked there and it was really fragile man not sure from when but dude, little girl was standing there minus her doll. Very plainly clothed. Don't have the foggiest how to explain it other than its the girl from the family sofa thats seems to be there every christmas I can remember for yonks.

When ghosts are documented, empirically evidenced and independently verified subjects via the scientific method, I'll take them seriously.

Until then, they are imagined fictions like Santa Clause, Tooth Fairy, Easter Bunny, Dragons, etc, etc.

Orbs explained:
Nice webpage on the subject too, from here:
http://pyrrho.s5.com/orbs.html

* Dust on the lens.
* Dirt in the camera.
* Internal reflections in the lens structure, also known as "lens flare".
* Deliberate multiple exposures.
* Objects very close to lens.
* Poor quality digital cameras.
* Poor quality optics.
* Deliberate digital editing of photographs.
* Flash reflections from shiny objects in the room.
* Contamination during processing of conventional film.
* Contamination during printing of conventional prints.
* Scanner anomalies.
* Dust on the scanner glass.
* Bad or outdated film.

and here, a more in depth article :
http://www.ghostgadgets.com/_knowledge/orbs.html

Orbs are a very controversial item in the paranormal investigation field. The hard fact is that most, if not all, "orbs" are caused by water droplets, dust, snow, rain, etc.. A common misconception about dust orbs is that it is dust actually in the camera or on the lens. This isn't true, in fact, dust orbs are caused by air-born dust particles directly in front of the camera lens. Below is an in-depth article on photographic/video analysis and contamination factors that cause false-positive orbs. Please note that the following applies for any camera with a flash (35mm & digital), and all nightshot video cameras.

Orbs.... this is a tricky one... I think the answer's in the camera, but could be wrong. Interestingly the scanner does produce these orbs, much to my annoyance.

Yes, I've heard disembodied voices and seen the results of poltergeist activity.

it's kind of funny but the camra is a cannan one of the most better brands to have and this camra i have is a 35 mm i a sure u it was not dust or anything it was taken in a apartment not out in the rain or anything else .
as i said when i had the film developed this was the only pic out of role that had this orb in it what seem strange after takend this photo to seval exsperts and well as they looked at my camra wich this is done to see if this was a mess up in the film or in the camra there was nothing wrong with the film or the camra .not even the lens

i believe in that people are afraied to see whats realy out there so they will try to argue that there can be other things such as rain,dust,ect but of course it's the person opion to say what they think.

I have and always will believe in ghosts. How else can I explain missing cutlery in my house and half full cups of warm coffee left in my bathroom when I live alone and dont drink coffee.

I don't believe that all ghosts are unhappy souls, not all of them are grounded and as mentioned in a previous post, they come back for some fun, we do the same in our "living state" so why can't departed souls?

Nope, the entire concept is rather silly. Conciousness doesn't exist without a brain.

I know from first hand experience…haunting can drain the life out of you (sorry about the pun). Believe me, when you have done every possible check to find the cause of thumps on the ceiling and voices coming through the vents, and there is not one to be found, it WILL freak you out.

Now thats a tricky question for me one that I can't put a finger on what is. I visit alot of civil war sites. Some of my pics I take at those sites come up with images of see thru things dressed in period style. I have felt things that I do not see in a distance and hurry my son away from because of the feeling I get from them. Yet Ive seen things that look as alive as we do and even talked to them only to have them vanish before my eyes. So which would be a ghost the one you see thru or the one that looks like it is living but the rules of exiting a place does not hold for them like the majority of us? Are ghost real or just an imprinted energy of the past where the ones that look real are they the ghosts? So many questions so little time and so little brain capacity to figure it out. So yes I believe there is somethings we see that isn't there but which is what I don't know and what to call it I don't either. Dang I'm more confused than I thought

The house I grew up in was like a vortex for spiritual activity.
Objects would move on their own, or scents and odors not common for our family would always be in the air. I've seen shadows and outlines of people: one was tall and skinny and wore a top hat like Abraham Lincoln.
There were "visitors" that had an errie presence about them. Others were benevolent.
Once in a while I would hear my name being called, only to find I was the only one at home.

I do.

I've had some personal experiences with some strange things, and so have other close friends. As to exactly WHAT they are, I can't say for sure. I do know that's something's going on sometimes outside of what we consider to be "normal" .

As just one example, I can quote some specific instances of ghost stories that defy explanation. There is a security company I work with, that sends patrols on alarms. I know several of the guards quite well, and know them to be very well grounded people.

In the office building I used to work in , about three guards quit - after seeing some very strange things. With a bit of research, I was able to confirm that one or two people were killed in a robbery there a long time ago, and left in a store freezer.

Is that the source ? I don't know. None of those people knew about that story, and I was only able to confirm it with some research talking to people that had lived in the area a long time - and who remembered it.

A close friend, at our office, saw a man in the hallway on camera. That hallway is locked, and almost no one has access. He saw the image, and it vanished a second later. There's no explanation as to where he could have gone.

There's also a well known building in Montreal , that patrols generally DON'T like responding to. All sorts of strange things happen when they do.

A friend of mine went there once, responding to an alarm. It's an old empty building, with a history. As he disarmed the system, he heard a piano playing. As he walked up to the room it was in....it stopped.

Nothing was out of the ordinary, and there was no sign of entry anywhere.

When he got back to the keypad....the piano started playing again.

He walked back up, and it stopped. This time, he said " Hey, you play pretty well." He sat down in the room, and just started to "let him know" that he knew he was there, and he thought it was interesting.

He walked out, this time, without any piano heard.

Another patrol found a chair in the middle of a room, and put it back in place. When he came back , after verifying the rest of the building, it was back in it's original position.

He quit.

Almost every single patrol has reported strange things.

It seems that the building had suffered a fire decades ago, and that at least one person died in that fire. This was found by some patrol people doing some historical research after experiencing things there.

"Ghosts" ?

I just know SOMETHING'S going on, that's beyond anything we can explain.

I have heard that some souls have had a lot of trouble getting into either Heaven or Hell. Can't get into Heaven, because they've been very bad people, and they need to suffer in Hell for their misdeeds before the evil that has become a part of them will let them go. Can't get into Hell, because even Hell has a maximum sentence of 1 year. So, if they cannot be punished long enough in 1 year, they can be doomed to spend years being beaten by angels, until they've suffered enough to only need to spend a year in Hell.

I've also heard that some souls have been able to visit Earth every now and then.

I've certainly come across enough spooky stuff to suggest that they are a bit more than a myth.

Your not a nut.Ghosts and spirits are seperate entities.Ghosts are people who do not know they are dead and have not been able to find their way to the "light",so they hang around their familar territories,haunts.
Spirits are people who know they have died but sometimes come back to this plain of being to let us know they are still around or they are watching over us or that they are happy where they are and want us to stop grieving for them.
I know this for a fact because I have experienced such a visitation which was very,very real.

Yes. I very much believe in the spirits. I lived in a house where the spirit of a school teacher lived. I never knew this until I had moved out, but the house that stood where the house I lived in had burned down. And a school teacher had got caught in that house. He had been banging on the walls hoping the firefighters would find him. But they didn't get to him quick enough and he was trapped smoke and died in the fire. The new house built on the site.....well we heard banging on the walls. I didn't know about this until the day I moved out....then I was told the history....strange thing was...his name was the same as mine.
