What do you think about people who have psychics' readings?

You will be surprised I have met several folks who do have regular experiences with psychic readings. My Shrink confirmed when I asked for his opinion that he does have quite a few clients who actually do it.

Many of those folks are relatively intelligent and what we may call "normal". Those people who claim they do it usually say that they called several, it was BS, nothing was true , all they cared was money and after searching around they could find those who actually guided them and helped them. I have heard from one of my buddies who is actually MD and very sharp that he found the psychic lady who guided him about his fiancee and he could confirm months and months later that the psychic lady was right.

It is strange but my therapist (PhD in psycology) --spell check...quite open to an idea of those readings and claims that he had some clients who got help from that big time.

As far I understand they can answer your questions such as :
What he/she feels about me? Does he/she cheats on me? What are the person's true intentions? Does he/she lies or hides anything?

I know that one of girls from work sees this sort of lady. The only way I know it is that sometimes she needs to leave from work like 30 min earlier. Looks like no one has a problem with that...Because it is workplace I can't ask her too many questions about it.

Your thoughts? Did someone has a direct experience with this subject?

At the end of the day, whether you seek guidance from a psychologist, therapist, psychic or horoscopes, you are responsible for the path you take using the information gained. All of the above do nothing more than provide you with options you may not have been aware of previously.

Very well said, ece.

I give Tarot readings. I do not consider myself psychic, just intuitive. I would never push it on anybody. And I feel no need to defend my actions.

Based upon your post, you think it is all nonsense, and therefore, you probably think people who prescribe to that sort of thing are ninnies. However, I dont see what I do as being any more silly than what a "shrink" does. I suggest to people a possible path to follow. And what I do required a whole lot less education.;)

I think they're 'psycho'. 'Psychics', along with astrology and religion (and countless other related things) are for weak-minded, delusional people.

Well, you asked.

I don't see anything wrong with having psychic readings...

I think you are confusing your psychologists education with the fact that he is human.

Aparrently special crimes use psychics and and these psychics have helped them solve many crimes.

I think most people have psychic ability but the degree and type differs.

OP post is back here...
According to people whom I knew personally (who are very social, down-to-earth, common sense) they had some personal challenges in terms of romantic relationships. I guess it may happen with everyone, despite your level of education, work and etc . (My Shrink confirmed it).

They said as far as they could find a good psychic (and many said it doesn't happen instantly) they received a tremendous help. It is like if your spouse may be cheating and you are not sure. They would give you yes/no answer and indicate how to find a physical evidences of that (in case it is "yes" answer). They would follow the advice and all stuff is right on the surfface (spell check)...

Some people are incapable of making up their own minds so need someone else to tell them what to do. Its called insecurity.

My, my, harrabylad, so judgemental...Have you never asked for advice? And, if not, why not?

It seems to me that it is the human condition, this quest for answers, for direction. And, often, a third party, whoever that might be, can offer the objectivity unavailable from a close friend or family member.

I suppose there are some people out there, for one reason or another, who never seek advice or imput into their lives. I think, however, they are few and far between.

OP - IMO the people who feel they've gotten help from armchair psychics are actually making changes themselves due to the power of suggestion. And they usually pay dearly for that suggestive enlightenment.

I do believe there are some people who are able to intentionally use a 'sense' that we all retain inside (intuition is actually part of that 'sense'), however, they are few and far between and they don't come with a disclaimer that says 'For entertainment purposes only'. You might want to take that into consideration..

Gut feelings are seamed to one's intuition - contrary to the popular belief that women possess it far greater than men do (ie: women's intuition). It may be tuned into and accepted more often in women simply because women tend to allow themselves those types of 'feelings' more often and more easily than men do - but we all have that 'sense'.

3rd edition, I never charge for a reading. True, we all may have that "sense" to a degree. However, many people refuse to embrace and nurture it. Also, I would never claim to know "the way." I tell people what I offer is suggestions...what they do with those suggestions is completely up to them.;)

The spirit voices are telling me it's a waste of money. I can sense a very fishy aura about the whole thing. Oops, no - that's just the smell of my cat's food.

I had a telephone conversation with psychic John Edward on the Larry King Live show a few years back. My grandfather was coming through. John picked up on several things that I could not validate until talking to my mom afterward. In answer to the question...people who have psychic readings understand that there's more to life than what meets the eye.

Seeking objective guidance from a third party is a good thing. But the subjective reading of a shuffled deck of cards is not very objective.

I would assume all the psychics were on vacation on 9 /11 ..................

or perhaps they simply all suffered that awful phenomenon most commonly referred to as ........ instantaneous global psychic brain fart syndrome......

What do you think about people who have psychics' readings?

I think of them just as I do any other people. To each his own. I have a friend who went to a psychic and said it was a lot of fun and that she learned a lot about herself and her relationships. BUT what she does with the information that she got, is up to her. And I think if someone lives there life according to what their psychic is telling them, then there's a problem.
I grew up believing that psychics were bad. Perhaps sent from the devil, lol. But as I grew older and wiser and having seen what they can do to help police, etc. I have certainly changed my mind on that. NOT all are reputable though...

Libertine154 - yes, that's exactly what I said - suggestions. Btw, I don't have a problem with people making a little side money doing it. You apparently do it as an interest. it's all good. My post wasn't meant to imply anything to or about you.

I have had psychic readings that provided specific information about future occurrences that came true. I also read my horoscope daily, and sometimes make adjustments based on what is foretold. I have sat for many tarot card readings and enjoyed every one of them.

That being said, I still believe in our creative ability. Predictions often come true because we make them come true. If future events are foretold, it may not be too late to change. When we read a horoscope, we can manifest the elements we desire and adjust to change elements not desired. We give meaning where we want meaning.

I prefer being with people who are open-minded. I see auras, have connected to spiritual forces (ghosts?), had past life regressions, and work with energy fields. There is more to our existence than the five senses. Intuition is real and we have only begun to explore our capabilities.

On the other hand, some people take psychic predictions too far. I know people who are extremely insecure and require constant psychic readings to explain their life. When we become dependent on someone else's capabilities rather than our own, we have given away our power.

As for being a nutbar, so were Columbus, Da Vinci, Einstein and many others who were not afraid to seek new truth.

As though it is a surprise that people are judgmental/ignorant about this topic

I read tarot cards, runes, I Ching and many other oracles... I also practice astrology...

Much of what is intuitively "read" is the person's energy..... and thus his potential probable future... I mostly do readings for my own self-reflection, but I occassionally give predictive readings for friends... which have been known to be uncannily accurate... of which I take absolutely NO credit for...

I have also seen a psychic or two in the past and was intrigued to observe their "methods" and to get a feel for what they see/predict... in some cases I was impressed, in others... not so much..

Some psychics are charlatans seeking to keep people weak and dependent upon their advice.... much of which must revolve around the negative in order to keep them coming back for more... which of course, becomes a self fulfilling prophesy...

One should leave with an empowered and positive feeling, not the opposite.

I have had religious people tell me I am going to HELL and atheists laugh at me as though I am a no-mind.... I could care less, for my authenticity is more important than someone else's opinions of me and what I enjoy :)

Ouija boards are cheap and can be used in the comfort and privacy of your own home. No need to leave work early either.

Yes! I love to do that! Wow!
Do you start too many threads on internet forums?
Ummm ... I don't know ... maybe
The signs are clear
What are they? What? what?
You must only start one new thread per week.
But, but, what will happen if I start more??
Thousands of innocent heads will begin to explode from the banal wearisome stupidity of it all
Oh. Like that would be SO funny! I could start a thread "Does your date's head ever blow up??" I'd love that!

I think people with all levels of education can not believe, think it's all a con/scam, believe, take it to heart and go over board with psychics/palm readers/tarot cards/tea leaves/bumps on the head........

For entertainment in the 70's, on occasion, I went with a group of women to a physic.
And up till that time it was for fun and a few laughs.
What changed my mind was when my older cousin with us.
The lady chose that time to hold my cousin's hand and told of past deeds. I didn't understand in the beginning what the lady was saying but noticed the cousin squirming......the more the physic talked, the more the cousin tried to get her hands free.
The last sentence to her (cousin) was to keep her hands out of her husband's pockets when he slept as it would only cause more problems and would end her marriage.

When I heard that part, I remembered when I spent the night, when I was younger and I'd caught her with her hands in her husband's pocket.

I like Sylvia Brown.
Last time I checked a reading from her was 800.00. That was a few years back and I saw a lot of green in her future.

I think it is an interesting phenomona. Past that, it is just what it is.

If you listen to the diatribe of a person who is presenting themselves from a "psychic" or "Paranormal" venue, and then you listen to oh, an advice columnist. You will start hearing much the same thing.

The difference is how the person see's themselves in the process.

Most of the "skilled" psychics I have come across are people that are rather insightful, not necessarily on any paranormal level, but they are good at listening and putting the bits of the puzzle together. I have seen the same skill represented in numerous ways, all of which break down to the skill of the person doing the presentation.

Is it a psychic skill, or paranormal gift? I really can't say. I don't get any great guidance from the eternal jujubee's or anything, but I do rather well with listening to people, and seeing how the things they have to say will lead you to conclusions in the reflection of who they are.
