When you have birthday do you buy yourself a present too?I do it every year and it is not always that my present for myself turns out to be the best one.But this year I bought myself the best present for myself since I bought myself a yellow Labrador Retriever girl!

I only really like celebrating other people's birthdays. I'm glad mine only comes once a year. I usually treat myself to a short trip or vacation somewhere during the week of my birthday.

I wish birthdays would just go away and leave me alone.
Seriously, the best birthday gift I could ever receive is having all four of my son's and their partners celebrating my old age together with me.
Mmmmm......My ex gave me a lovely gift once.....It was a makeover

The first morning I woke up after bying my birthday present I rubbed my eyes extra much and then smiling over what she had done while lazy mom was 'snorring' it was feathers all over the place, she had bit the feather blanket apart,to bad that she is a girl otherwice her name would have been Marley after the book not the music...:

Guess, that getting a feather duster or maybe that should be called a feather dusting for a Birthday present is a real treat. Other good treats come in email such a Birthday Cards and other special Birthday Greetings too so we can come home for the holiday.

I absolutely buy myself a gift. The other thing that was brought to my attention by a very good friend, she buys her MOTHER something for her birthday, because in all actuality--- she's the one that squeezed you out on that fabulous day! I think it's a phenomenal idea and she said that her mom always cries when she gets the flowers! How sweet!

I'm with you OP. For the past couple of years I buy myself a gift. This year I bought myself 2 Yankee Candles of my favorite scents. Not outrageous but exactly what I wanted. The only other gift I got was a subscription to a magazine for women over 40...from my mom!

By myself a birthday gift for myself why not and I dont see anything wrong with it. To be a birthday is that person's special day and they should celebrate it as they see fit. For my last birthday I went and bought me a bunch of records. For my friends and people I know I always make sure to wish them a happy birthday( a lot of times that will make a person really happy just by saying that). If funds are availible for real close friends I try to get them something small even if its just buying them a drink; its my way of showing how much they mean to me.

Oh, I hope that lab is doing well today.
I will sometimes buy myself something for my birthday, but, in reality, I buy myself whatever I want or need whenever I want to, so it isn't really special to buy something for my birthday. Usually, what I get for myself is more what I want, but it is nice to get gifts or cards from others, whether it is something I like that much or not, simply because of the gesture of friendship.

No I haven't done this before but it's a great idea and I'm going to start next year.

I realised that I do actually deserve to treat myself every now and then

Bought myself a nice Seiko watch this year for my birthday. Wasn't what I was orginally looking for but I like it, and actually probably like it a little more than what I was orginally after. Wish that it had a different movement in it, but it has the sapphire crystal that I wanted to have.

I don't consider birthdays significant except for the amount of trouble they cause me with everyone wanting to do stuff on mine and me having to put them off with excuses of clinical paperwork, laundry, etc. I buy myself little things throughout the year.
