the seasons keep turning as the world spins out from under our feet. but the thought of coming to and finding your face smiling back at me might be nice way to temper the hurtling disregard twinned to me and the bumps and bruises that follow. surely there are others that have tried and failed -a folly not called to task- to reach through desperation for the empty shadow that you'd once called your own. cursed be me to rekindle the detritus and remnants of your repose by branding on you a flatterer's crown. where i aim -like a snowball thrown at a passing car- is where you should be. Oh arrogant impact, does this overture leaven too little grace to tug upward at your lips? lest my hearty thud to erase the past and begin everything at once again pluck none too lightly at your wings; earthbound (or so we believe) and adorable in the aftermath, you still flutter in my sleeves.
