| Ritchie Blackmore Posted: 10/9/2007 5:41:45 AM | | Richie Blackmore's Rainbow vs Blackmore's night. What do you think?I have to admit that I miss 'the old good days' when Dio did the vocals for Rainbow and I can't see that Blackmore rock at all anymore, any thoughts? | |

| Ritchie Blackmore Posted: 10/9/2007 7:56:13 AM | | Rainbow vs Night is like comparing apples and oranges. Pile driving hard rock versus the tranquility and beautiful melodies of celtic music. Both have a time and place to be enjoyed. At another time and place I saw Blackmore perform with Deep Purple and it was an unforgettable experience. I am sure that Blackmore will rock again. Maybe he just needs a little break from the intensity of it and when he returns in another rock band it will be on the next level up and beyond what anyone can imagine. Probably be worth waiting for. | |

I think that's highly unlikely. He despises rock music and most rock musicians - it was one of the reasons for his fractious relationship with Deep Purple and the main reason for the revolving cast of Rainbow.
He stuck with it initially because he couldn't see a way out. Now that he's found it I don't think you'll see him going back.

| Ritchie Blackmore Posted: 10/10/2007 2:42:56 PM | | No I don't think that he will back either!By the way he isn't to popular to those vocalists that he have had but I agree with Blackmore, instead of complain they should be greatful because they become all fameous after singing for Blackmore. | |
|
| Ritchie Blackmore Posted: 10/10/2007 3:34:13 PM | | It's possible that Blackmore will be back with a Paradigm Shift into maybe a progressive celtic rock fusion genre. The same old rock gets boring after awhile. New horizons of music are yet to be expored by those who are able to express their creative genius such as Blackmore and a few others. Shakespeare said creativity is to a cistern as genius is to a fountain. | |

| Ritchie Blackmore Posted: 10/17/2007 7:00:52 PM | NO!!
I believe that Graham Bonnet was the best vocalist they had, Joe lynn Turner sure can sing, but not get into high tones, and Dio, he is more for hardrock songs, I believe Graham Bonnet was the only singer of Rainbow that could sing everything!!
|
| Ritchie Blackmore Posted: 10/19/2007 12:56:45 PM | | 44Boz , Ritchie Blackmore actually came on stage when Deep Purple played at Montreux Jazz Festival in 2006. Steve Morse playing some amazing guitar...then they invited Blackmore on stage and he and Morse went of together. | |

| Ritchie Blackmore Posted: 10/19/2007 1:16:54 PM | | who is kidding who here..bonnet ,turner they are not even in ronnie james dios league..dio has the best voice i ever heard ..i just saw dio on the heaven and hell tour in tampa on sep.14 2007..and his voice was incredible..as far as rainbow goes i have all the dio stuff..and if its not with dio then its crap..these other guys cant hold a note against dio..thats why he is still ranked as one if not the best vocalist in hard-heavy rock..after seeing dio 7 times i know what that awesome singer sounds like live..and he is the best iv ever seen..his stage presence is something to behold..rock on dio... | |

| Ritchie Blackmore Posted: 10/19/2007 9:32:56 PM | | I've played with Ritchie on numerous occasions, he is a sterling musician, but like a lot of us, he is somewhat crippled in the personality department, regardless of that, his devotion and passion for making great music must be admired. If Ritchie is a sound that enthralls, go listen to Billy Gibbons, that's where his sound startsd from...keep on rockin' | |

| Ritchie Blackmore Posted: 10/20/2007 6:19:02 PM | | Missfreja Hawk, hawk are you really serious about that? You must be joking...Graham Bonnet would have done better in Miami Vice than in Rainbow,or at least if you ask me...But I guess the taste are like the butt then...Or at least for some of us... | |
|
| Ritchie Blackmore Posted: 10/20/2007 8:20:26 PM | | I saw him with Rainbow a zillion years ago. I had a bad case of food poisoning, made it through Blackmore but slept through Nugent....love all his projects actually. I love to hear musicians change and rearrange their art through the years. Inspiring. | |

| Joe Lynn Turner! Posted: 10/21/2007 6:31:50 AM | Well not bring biased But Joe Lynn Turner i think was better then DIO.. in my opinion. Joe was more melodic... but dont get me wrong.. DIO is good too.. But i first heard DIO when he was solo .. and then i heard him as lead vocals for other groups.. it wasnt the same.. as i more or less known him for a solo artist!.
I like JLT's 2001 cd called "SLAM" .. and i am not saying that cause I DID the cover art for it ...hehe.. but it was a darker and harder side of him.. and i think was the best .. of course i like that style the most. .. his other stuff more recent stuff kinda has a poppish feel to it!!!

| Ritchie Blackmore Posted: 10/21/2007 6:09:30 PM | | Ritchie Blackmore has to be my all-time favorite guitar player. I saw Rainbow a half dozen exciting times between '76 and '80 and then again during one of the Deep Purple reunions (don't remember the year). I'm not much into Blackmore's Night, but that is just a matter of my own taste. A great comparison would be Blackmore in Deep Purple or Blackmore in Rainbow. BTW, You Rock!!! | |

Oh well. Guess those interviews (note the plural) I read just consistently misquoted him then ... or maybe all the years spent in Purple persuaded him back for the night?

| Ritchie Blackmore Posted: 10/26/2007 10:12:51 PM | | Well the taste are as the butt then, two parted...I love Dios voice but all the singers for Blackmore should be greatful for where he took them comparing what they would have been without the Guru! | |
|
| Ritchie Blackmore Posted: 1/1/2008 1:56:47 PM | i like some of Blackmores Night, but I also think the 1995 cd "Stranger In Us All" under the Richie Blackmores Rainbow name (Doogie White on vocals) kicks ass | |
|
| Ritchie Blackmore Posted: 4/14/2008 5:49:00 AM | i saw purple in their heyday in cleveland. wonderful concert.
saw dio in cleveland and had an opportunity to talk to him. what a guy! gave me all the time i wanted to rub elbows with him.
i talked to a renaissance musician that played with blackmore recently in california and he said he was playing the diva role. wanted special treatment and such.
i've heard ritchie can be difficult but if you are blessed with talent and stardom maybe it's hard not to be a bit high and mighty.
any blackmore's night that can be recommended to a new listener?
|
| Ritchie Blackmore Posted: 4/18/2008 9:22:13 PM | Blackmore's Night is absolutely horrid shite. A pet project that his wife cooked up. She's a character btw...more or less Ritchie is her puppet and he pretty much does what she wants him to, including dressing up like the roaming gnome and playing to renaissance nerds. Sorry if I offended those who enjoy the music.
Anyways, I'm a major fan of Rainbow, all eras, especially the Joe Lynn Turner albums, as well as Coverdale/Blackmore era Deep Purple. Rithchie pioneered the neo classical style of playing long before guys like Malmsteen were around.

| Ritchie Blackmore Posted: 4/23/2008 5:43:40 PM | | my heart is made of metal quantavius but i do like to explore. i enjoy the medieval faires and the music. it's fantasy. that's why i asked about blackmore's night. | |
|
| Ritchie Blackmore Posted: 4/27/2008 6:43:43 AM | | It's ok dude, haha...I just am a pretty devoted Rainbow fan, and I think it's a shame that Ritchie can't find something better to do with his time. | |
|
| Ritchie Blackmore Posted: 5/11/2008 7:34:33 AM | | Greatest Rainbow song ever- off "Long Live Rock & Roll"- The Shed! That is Blackmore at his best with Dio on vocals, great song! | |
