I am right handed and I think I know maybe two
people, one being Vincent that are left handed.

So what are you, right handed , left handed or both.
did you ever find being left handed you had a problem.
I know in Catholic school they use to smack your hand if
you wrote with your left hand- that was back in my Mom's
day though. My day, they ENCOURAGED you to write right
handed.

yeah its Sunday.

Im am both hander, it freaks people out cause I can write and eat just as good with my left as my right, I favor my right but will not tell no one and switch back and forth on them and watch me start studing me with this bewildered look.

I was supposed to have been left handed, but my mom kept yanking the crayons and pencil from the left hand and putting it in the right.

If I'm at the batting cages, playing putt-puut golf, or tennis, I can use either hand.

For writing, my right hand is more dominate.

Mixed. I write right-handed, but my mum thinks I may have been left-handed if she'd not kept putting the pen in my right hand when I was tiny. I can write left-handed but it's messy. Typing, left hand dominates. Never was terribly coordinated. If you are left-handed, are you also left-footed -- if you go to kick a ball, which foot do you naturally use?

You will also be left or right-eye dominant You can find out which eye is dominant by doing the following test: hold up one of your fingers at arms length with both eyes pen and line up your fingertip with a point on the wall some distance away from you; close one eye and then the other. The eye which keeps the fingertip and the point on the wall aligned the best is the dominant eye. Apparently, this is useful in shooting: knowing which eye to use to aim.

Further, there is a left-right brain dominance and there are tests online to find out which yours is. Try this easy visual test -- http://www.news.com.au/perthnow/story/0,21598,22492511-5005375,00.html I am right-brained as for me the dancer definitely moves clockwise and I struggle to see it another way. My best friend is the same as me, whilst my special someone is mixed, switching between the two views easily and my mum is left-brained.... whatever that really means, if anything!

I'm a leftie, as is a sister of mine. Out of six children, we're the only two lefties. I read magazines from back to front but golf righthanded. Doors open on the wrong side for me (oh well), and even with a pair of lefthanded scissors, cutting paper without causing myself or others injury, is a BIG challenge.

Although our father was considered ambidextrous, I suspect had he not been forced to conform once in school, he too would have been a leftie.

You know what they say: "If the left side of the brain, controls the right side of the body... then only lefthanded people are in their right mind".

I'm left handed but I can do a lot with my right hand because my Mom was smart enough to realize the challenges I'd face, in a right handed world.

Left handed scissors didn't exist when I was a kid. and most potato peelers are only sharpened on one side. I even learned to knit and crotchet right handed, else I'd have to read each line of a pattern backwards to make it look right. I swing a baseball bat and hockey stick right-handed (albeit badly!!) and can write with my right hand, but it looks more like the script of a teenage boy than like my regular handwriting.

My oldest daughter is left-handed. Her paternal grandparents are German and we lived in Germany the first ten years of her life. Her paternal grandfather probably should have been left-handed, but they wouldn't let him use his left hand to write, etc. but that was back in the early 1900's (he was born in 1898).

As my daughter got old enough to feed herself, she always reached for her utensils with her left hand and I let her use whatever hand she wanted. When eating at my in-law's house, my mother-in-law insisted that we make her use her right hand ... didn't happen. I over-rode that.

As my daughter got old enough to use crayons, she always used her left hand. She was only 18 mos. old and already staying well in the lines of anything she wanted to color. When she started school, they taught script writing in 1st grade and all I can say is that her writing always looked exactly like the model papers the teacher sent home.

I eventually bought her special scissors for school and believe it or not ... even though she was left-handed, she could cut better with her right hand. I have two nephews who are also left-handed so that gave my parents 3 left-handed grandchildren out of the 11 grandchildren ... all born from the mid 60's to the early 80's.

I'm sure if they had been born 50 years earlier ... they probably wouldn't have been allowed to be ... left-handed.

I'm also an Ambi.

... even though she was left-handed, she could cut better with her right hand.

Not uncommon, in my experience.

I know three other ambidextrous people, as well as numerous southpaws, we all seem to have certain things that we favour a certain hand to use.(In the leftie's case, their cack-hand.)

I can write and shoot with either hand, but can only play guitar left-handed, and box right-handed.

Go figure!

left handed mostly.
learned to eat right handed if needed from sitting at a crowded table one too many times.

Catholic school- My older brother was "encouraged" to turn right handed.

I shoot a gun and a bow right handed- the dominant eye thing. I gues now that it is in the open my "but I'm left handed" alibi is gone for any unforseen future events.

I know a few lefties, my mom included, and I get by fairly well with either. I can write left-handed, but generally don't, it's just messier. I can use a hammer with either hand, bat a ball from left or right, use a tennis racket with either hand, catch a ball with either hand, but I don't throw so well with my left. I also competed in the highjump for a long time, and most right-handed people jump from the right side, but not me. When I tried the hurdles I found I could lead with either leg whereas most right-handed have to lead with their right leg. Same with swimming, I can breath from either side. Some of these things can be an advantage, but I have found all my life that I have a terrible sense of direction, and I sometimes wonder if there's a connection with being ambidextrous. I'm just directionally confused

My brother is ambidextrous, meaning he can write and draw with either his right or left hand, though his lefthanded writing is much more legible than that which is written with his right hand.

I, myself, am righthanded when I write, but tend to lift my cup or bottle with my left hand. I remember a teacher tying my left hand behind my back to try to get me to stop using it to print. Don't exactly know when I stopped using my left.

I write with my right hand. But, I steer the steering wheel with my left. Im supposedly a left handed hockey player. Because,I hold the stick to the left. Sometimes, if I have to cut someting ackward shaped. So, I have no choice but to grip with my right hand and hold the jigsaw with the left.
I prefer to kick with my left foot for front kicks. But right foot for side kicks.

I am ambidextrous, I write left handed but do most everything else right handed, my grandmother was ambidextrous also, although back then they made her write right handed.
My son is right handed , but is left eye dominate? ( according to his uncle LOL)
So during tee-ball practiced hitting lefty and did much better than right :)
He has lefties on both sides of the family , myself and grandma on my side, his uncle , 2 cousins ( different parents ) on dads side.

Go figure

I'm the only righty in my immediate family. That's right. Father, mother and brother are all lefties.

I took the left-right dominant test and found that while I write right handed, my left eye is dominant, and also have other lefty traits (can't remember which).

However, I am also the only person in my immediate family who has legible handwriting!

My daughter writes and eats left handed and ties her shoes backward, but does everything else right handed, probably just because everything is set up for right handedness and she just learned that way.

I am right handed and took the test...I can make the dancer reverse direction at will...not sure what that means, lol.

I'm a lefty. But I bat and golf righty. I think it's simply because when I was little and Dad was teaching me to hold a bat or club, he showed me the "righty" way, not thinking about me being a lefty.

I can't use lefty scissors, but I use righty scissors with my left hand.

I have very neat handwriting, unusual for a lefty. I don't do that crazy hook thing, either.

I can write with my right hand, but it looks like a 3rd grader's writing.

Well...

I can switch hands and not lose a stroke, if that's what you are asking.

I'm right-handed, and am totally useless with my left. I hope I never injure my right hand, it is that bad!

I'd give my right arm to be ambidexterous...

Pretty much ambidextrous... If I'm signing my name to legal documents, or using an exacto knife? Right hand. Anything else? The closer hand. (Once upon a time, in a state far, far away, the lovely Sister Esther said "No, dear, you write with the RIGHT hand, not the wrong one..." LOL)
