| Did you ever dial that number Posted: 10/22/2007 2:45:54 PM | | 8675-309, most of you know this as a song by the band "Tommy Tutone". Basically a one hit wonder. After listening to the song, have you ever felt the urge to dial this number, and ask for Jenny? I did once, just for the fun of it. Some old dude answered. | |

| Did you ever dial that number Posted: 10/22/2007 3:19:13 PM | | When I was in high school an R & B song came out called 777-9311. A lot of people I know dialed the number (it was soon disconnected) and asked for Grace. The funny part is that "777" is a real exchange number in my hometown. We also had a Fred Krueger living on Elm street. | |

| Did you ever dial that number Posted: 10/22/2007 3:25:58 PM | Actually the song title was "Jenny Jenny", not 867-5309.
And no, I have never had the urge to call it.

| Did you ever dial that number Posted: 10/22/2007 3:43:36 PM | | That number was the phone number for an old couple. they had to change it because idiots were phoning at all hours of the day and night. I also heard that the band had to pay for it because they used that number without the users permission. Dunno if that part was true. They had the elderly man on a radio show asking him about the experience. | |

| Did you ever dial that number Posted: 10/22/2007 4:11:54 PM | 8,6,7,5,3,ooooo,9 ..... Ahhh, one of the songs that made 80's the greatest decade of rock n roll.
Now, can anyone explain this to me how this can be just 'one' telephone number, when the area code is missing? I heard many stories about whom this number belongs to, old couple was one story. No, I didn't call, I was a poor student at that time.

| Did you ever dial that number Posted: 10/22/2007 4:20:25 PM | I really havent listened to Tommy Tampon And The Toxic Shock.
Btw, the area code for the song is 803. The band was from the Gastonia North Carolina area.
The song is what, 30 years old? I doubt Jenny will still have the same number.

If you remember, back when the song came out, you didn't have to dial the area code...it probably just connected with "that" number in your particular calling zone.

| Did you ever dial that number Posted: 10/23/2007 5:41:16 PM | | No, but at the bar, I'd give that out as a phone number... if the guy was smart enough to recognise the number, then he'd get my real number... | |

| Did you ever dial that number Posted: 10/23/2007 7:47:41 PM | | I knew someone who's number was 467-5309 and her name was Jenny so she got a ton of calls in her city in those days! There were no numbers starting with 8 in that city so everyone chose 4. | |

| Did you ever dial that number Posted: 10/23/2007 8:39:52 PM | Some high school kid worked his way thru all the area codes as a school project.
His results are here:

| Did you ever dial that number Posted: 10/23/2007 8:57:47 PM | Just a couple years ago a guy who had the number 867-5309 tried to sell it on Ebay. He said he would give up the number and transfer it to who ever won the auction. The bids were into the 10's of thousands. It was all over the news.
Then the phone company informed him that he did not in fact "own" the number, they did. The auction was pulled after that.
