| What do you miss the most about being a kid again Posted: 10/30/2007 12:32:13 PM | What do you miss the most about being a kid again.? Im talking about when you were say 7 to 11 when you were completely stress free the things that made you feel happy and completely free. Mine I guess would have to be when I went fishing with the family I walked alone endlessly through forests looking for new adventures. Finding old abandoned cabins, sitting on a log overhanging a creek fishing with a piece of line tied to a branch watching the fish swim by. The memories that still remind you of how great it was to be a kid.
I know it corny as hell but .......am I alone or do you think of your childhood.

My mom's cooking, playing by the river, my innocence, playing marbles in the school yard, buying penny candies at the corner store (for a dime you got a good bag - licorice pipes were my fave), sneeking into the drive-in in the car trunk, wet dreams.

| What do you miss the most about being a kid again Posted: 10/30/2007 7:09:40 PM | | I have sooooooooo much that I feel I am responsible for now, but back in the good old days I didn't have to worry as much. I was not a slave to the clock, which I am afraid I have become and need to really think about. I kind of miss the days of 13 tv channels and simpler times, when a person was more likely to be bored than exhausted. I find there is just too much of everything these days. | |

When I went to live in Ontario the pace was just incredible people race back and forth to work . It would take forever to get to their cabins on the long weekends I remember going to the muskokas for three days IT was hell !!!! 8 hours to get there, unpack jump in the lake, have dinner, then start packing again lol there wasnt enough time to sit and relax Unfortunately this province is catching up to their lifestyle and I for one cant stand it. We dont have the infrastructure to support the amount of people coming to live here and its taking a toll on the people here. I liked the old Vancouver remember when it was called a quaint little village in the northwest as stated in the winter olympics in Lake Placid, New York.
Why didnt we just agree and keep it to ourselves damm look at our city now its become the little Los Angeles of the north

| What do you miss the most about being a kid again Posted: 2/28/2008 3:49:57 AM | I miss the innocence of it all. I grew up, as a lot of us had, when we could go out and play until dark or later and no one lost any sleep over it. Basic rule when we were kids. "Dinnner is at_____. Be here, or you won't be eating tonight." Mom was never worrried about much else, other than to make sure our tummies were full and we had some type of clothes on before we walked out the door.
I think that is one of the things kids miss nowadays. The innocence. They grow up too fast, must know and worry about things that I didn't have to until high school, and the pressure that "adults" complain about, trickles right down to their little heads. You wonder why some are like they are????

| What do you miss the most about being a kid again Posted: 2/28/2008 9:37:23 AM | Marble season....no official date, it just happened Cards, knockdowns, tops etc, not collecting and selling, but playing to win, Hockey cards, football, baseball cards. Blue mountain park when they opened the free sports equipment "rental" booth. Getting to school early to play scrub baseball before class Austin Heights Elementary, my favourite school, when they tore it down I grabbed a couple of the bricks and still have them as door stops. The innocence of Christmas......believing ....and all that went with it. Comics, flying things ( styrofoam glider planes, bathtubs, snakes etc) Secret Sam briefcase ( 007 style with a cameraand a multi part sniper/handgun) GI Joe before he shrunk
gee can't say i remeber much, guess it wasn't that much fun after all

I miss the lunch hours at school (when play was more important than food!)
I miss eating all I want without having to worry about weight gain.
I miss sitting on the curb at the corner store with my best friend eating fudgicles.
I miss picking fresh peas (and other garden delights) in my grandma's garden at her cottage during summer holidays.
I miss loudly singing along to Edward Bear and not caring who hears me.

Either you like each other or you don't.Perhaps we should simplify things again like then.....send one another a note " If you like me check yes or no ". Pretty straight forward I think..lol.

| What do you miss the most about being a kid again Posted: 2/28/2008 10:11:53 AM | I miss riding my horse through groves of Oak and Walnut trees, surrounded by bluebells and wild daffodils, avoiding the Faery circles for fear of being hexed.
Punting peacefully down winding rivers on warm lazy afternoons, watching the ducks and swans moving in and out of the willows that dabbled their fingers in the slow running waters.
Sneaking out of school over the tall stonewalls covered in Ivy to see the boys in the village square.
The sweet taste of the water that ran from an old cairn.
The fresh scent of the early morning mist as it rose from the deep green moss.
Thank you for taking me back to a simpler time in this all to stress filled day.

| What do you miss the most about being a kid again Posted: 2/28/2008 10:42:56 AM | I miss going fishing with Dad. I remember one evening when I was still too young to use a knife to cut bait to put on my hook. Dad figured he'd better start cleaning fish for that northern sky was getting a bit dark. I kept fishing, casting from the shore. The fish started biting with such vigor by the time Dad had cleaned a fish I had another for him. Finally he told me to quit for he couldn't keep up.
I miss Mom telling stories of her family triumphs and trials from the old country.
I miss riding my bicycle with carefree abandon. With my smaller bike I'd keep up with the big, older boys on their bigger bikes... they used to call me the "Speed Demon". The sheer joy all the kids experienced when they paved the town streets... oh what an awesome summer that was!
I miss living in a time of such innocence that kids had no worries about talking to strangers, because they weren't any. Everyone kept an eye out on the kids in town, keeping them out of harm's way, and out of trouble.

| What do you miss the most about being a kid again Posted: 2/28/2008 10:57:35 AM | | I miss getting toys. Every once in a while I'm tempted to look at the toy section in a department store but it's not the same. I used to have this crazy anticipation about the different action figures I'd get. Open them up in the car on the drive home, nowadays I've filled that void by getting dvds but there's nothing that compares to opening up that figure you thought was sold out and that fresh smell of rubber. | |
