| Do American Women get the worst reputation? [Thread Closed]
Posted: 10/31/2007 12:42:25 AM | I had an interesting discussion with some of the guys when the question pops up "Who would you rather be with in a relationship, a Foreign Woman or an American Woman?"
Its funny because I always get the answer of having a Foreign Woman is better than an American Women by many guys and they say its not the Exotic feeling, is that they know what American Women are capable of. The one answer I always hear is that Foreign Women are more submissive than American Women.
I don't mind being with an American Woman or a Foreign Woman just as long as they are great to be with, but I always hear bad reputations on American Women.
What are your thoughts on this question? | |

Posted: 10/31/2007 2:08:53 AM | What American women are capable of is, being an EQUAL partner, not a slave of sex or household. Asking for something they want instead of playing "poor me" games. Some American women can be materialistic, but more of them are independant, than foreign women. If a man has any shortcomings that he is insecure about, a foreign woman will pretend the problem does not exist in order to be taken care of, ie: pedi/mani/hair. An American woman will alert him to his problem and still want a pedi/ mani/hair. So what's the difference, except the fact that one is a "yes dear" Stepford woman? If you don't want to hear the truth about yourself, foreign is the way to go guys. lol. All in all, a woman is a woman. We are ALL great in our own womanly ways. | |

Posted: 10/31/2007 2:14:04 AM | If they cite their reason as wanting a more submissive woman, then they are not a real man. I want someone who can excite and challenge me, not someone who just bends to my will and could be replaced with a nodding bobble head and a sex toy.
Usually when you hear men saying they hate American women, these men are misogynists who actually hate all women. It's just Westernized women who won't put up with these men because they are more independent and don't have to deal with bad behaviour, are not desperate for money, companionship, etc. Foreign women, depending on country and poverty level, will put up with a whole lot and serve and please their meal ticket. I can honestly say these men are not a loss - they are the men that Western women did not want, which is why they seek their love elsewhere. It's a win-win situation for all.
Sometimes people just like to have something different. I go through phases where I find American men exotic and sexy and other phases where I love Aussie men or English, Irish and Scottish, or even Canadians. The only reason I rule out non-native speaking nationals is that communication is very important to me and I can't be with someone I can't speak to fluently and comfortably. | |

You must clarify the "foreign women" part.
US is not the only Western world in this earth.
Are you talking about other western women or Asian women or Eastern European women etc etc.
Not all the "foreign women" are the same so do not put us in a single category opposite American women.
Besides you can find women who are materialistic etc in every single country as well as you can find men who are idiots.
I'm a Western woman, further more I'm a Scandinavian woman, we in Scandinavia practically invented the concept of equality. Personally I will only go out with a man who treats me as his equal. And to be honest, most of the European men (especially from Northern Europe) have no problems acknowledging this fact. Maybe they are more secure in themselves as men, who knows. | |

Granted we are not "submissive" by any means.I guess it depends on what kind of a partner a man is looking for.Being american I find it hard to believe men want a "yes Dear" wife,to me that would be BORING in a partner,but then I'm not a man. Also, it depends on where the guy is from. I had a Chinese professor as a roommate at one time, and he said, "Happiness is an American house, a Chinese dish, and a Japanese wife." He felt Chinese women were way too overbearing, dominant, and bi*tchy. He said Chinese men wanted Japanese wives because they were more submissive. I've also run into plenty of foreign men who claim they would rather have an American woman.
I think it's another case of people think the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. | |

Posted: 10/31/2007 12:19:47 PM | It's just a matter of preference. I wouldn't say all non-western women are submissive...I personally know a few that are more dominant than me and that's hard to accomplish.
Some find certain cultures alluring, and a woman from that land brings elements of it with her. I've never had trouble meeting men when I've traveled abroad, but this had to do with a number of things. Some liked me for me, others thought American girls were easy while others found me exotic.
In the end, I'll probably marry a westerner so I won't be surprised by some 'wife' ideal that I don't agree with. The only 'bad reps' I've encountered as an American woman were that they assumed I didn't care about the rest of the world, I had sex at the drop of a hat and I carried a gun.  I love being accused of bigotry by someone who is being a bigot. | |

She used pics of someone else entirely to get him intrested and buying a plane ticket. She actually made him buy her entire fam coats and boots every trip HE took. He slept with her AND her children in one bed(Never had sex and a kiss only on the cheek). As HE WAS CLEANING HER HOUSE, she and her friends spoke Russian while PLAYING CARDS, obviously poking fun while he became the servant who paid the boss. When he threw a tantrum, she threw him out in the cold, in Russia, no keys or wallet! After a few trips, paying over 20,000 total for this treatment, his business of 20 years went under. The last time I saw him, he was working at Office Max, and no wife! We joked about how many call girls and topless maids he could have bought with that money. He would have been able to actually have sex too. I think it's a funny story because men can be so dense that the big picture always comes too late. American women are much desired in other countries for their independence. The grass is always greener. The French see us as "cultured with accents", n'est pas? Accents are cute, but what about the actual conversation itself boys? | |

Evidently our reputations aren't that bad. American men keep marrying us.
Actually marriage rates have been slowly going down in the last several years, while the divorce rate is pretty steady.

Someone whom can hold an intelligent conversation on a variety of topics and not just regurgitate some 5 second sound bite they heard. Someone who doesn't know who won American Idol and has no interest in finding out. Someone who is more interested in world events than if Britney got her kids back.
This isn't just against American women, but Americans in general. Generally people in this country don't know anything beyond out borders and in many cases their own little world. | |

We realize that we have the same capacity of thinking as men do and do not get stepped over.
HOWEVER i do find it annoying how CHIVALRY IS ALMOST DEAD. i guess because american women want so badly to be an equal, they find it disrespectful for a man to demonstrate chivalry. NOT ME. I loooove a gentleman. Maybe that's a "foreign woman" mindset as well.
BUT when you think about it, the whole "foreign vs american" is almost the same as the whole "guys like white girls better than black girls because they know what black girls are capable of" hahaha | |
