This is kinda funny in a way---but equally sad.
So OP did he really cally you "overtly intelligent" or are those your words? That might be somewhat telling if he used different verbage.
I notice your listed profession as "interviewer" so I'm wondering if this doesn't play into his reaction to the date? There are people who are VERY intelligent and don't bash others with it while there are others who DO use it almost as a weapon of sorts. Some people have a natural intensity that someone with more of a "fun" personality would find as being "too intelligent" or more accurately almost too serious for them. This too might have figured into his comments.
You should never try to downplay any part of your personality and if it means you have to better screen your dates or suffer through a few who can't deal with you "as is" then that's a small price to pay for simply being yourself. I myself couldn't see pretending to be anything but what I am. When dating it doesn't always work out but for those who don't "get me" or understand it's not that big a loss. I'm sure you already know this---you're certainly smart enough! | |

A woman without many qualifications might not be dumb, she may just have a hard time with study.
An intelligent woman might be exceptional with facts and figures but holds no common sense whatsoever
I would say each is an individual, i wouldnt say i have a preference either way, its about the chemistry really, i love intellectual stimulation but i also love simplicity in a person.
I would say its all about the package and not the dumb/intelligent thing. | |

While I only have experience with one "dump girl" - I can say - she was wild and crazy and OMG so sexy in bed that .........
Yeah sometimes there is something to say about a gal that is not trying to do rocket science in bed. Or not trying to figure out what you just said (right over her head and did not even know it).
That girl was my gf between my two long marriages. Not much on brain power but I will never forget that 1.5 years of sex EVER.
When I was just a kid - my gf had both. She was like #2 (brain wise) in a high school with about 2000 kids. Now she was the full deal - brains and sexy as hell. She never felt the need to be over brainy around me - just a pretty sexy sweet girl. | |

The only thing worse than dumb women are women that act dumb to "fit in". That is something I see all the time. It is sad and pathetic.
If a guy told you that he is either a> bullsh*ting you or b> a true dumb*ss with no self esteem. Would you want either one of those? Be yourself and find someone who appreciates you for what you have. There are too many dumb people out there to want to be one of them.

A few years ago, I was talking to this girl. We were talking like any old day and some how we got around to talking about the states. I forgot how, but I asked her if she knew how to spell Arkansas. She said she couldn't spell it, and kinda chuckled.
I knew she was a HS drop out, only worked at corner store jobs. She wasn't worldly, motivated, or flaunted some education she didn't have. But the funny thing is that when we were just sitting there talking, none of that mattered.
She could make jokes, be entertaining, be silly, be fun, be sexy. I don't think she was book smart by any means, but she was engaging, lively and just plain nice.
I know allot of you women would bail if I was talking to you and I couldn't have spelled Arkansas. For me intelligence isn't something that comes into play in romance. When you're just strolling, watching the sunset, talking about life, love and experience; none of that matters. | |

Men dont care for women with balls bigger than theirs. Intelligence most of them value...But the "Screw men!" Or "im right your wrong" has no plac e in a relationship...from either sex. I'm not at all suggesting act like an idiot...But if your idea of intelligence is getting into philosocphical debates on the first dater or worse implyin g "I dont need men!" you will get dropped. A first date is not the place for a pissing contest.
Most normal men dont like a woman who balks at him paying, opening doors etc....
Both sexes need to dumb it down in the beginning. Leave intellect at home.
The exception is when that person has such low self esteem they enjoy being "smarter" than the other person. Those types you need to run. | |
