A word limit in emails?Page 1 of 1
Hello. I've used this site for a while and have wondered, after many un replied emails, If there is a word limit? Usually I never get my hard worked emails replied and this makes me feel that there is a limit to how many words i can have in an email. Are my hard worked messages even recieved?

Please help. This is kind of bugging me.

Thanks.

Around 7,500 - 7,800 Characters, incl. Spaces.
If you have more than that, your E-Mail will usually end being sent truncated beyond the Count.

In some Instances, esp. in Conjunction with other NO-NOs such as Spam Links, restricted Countries, certain Symbols, etc. your E-Mail may not go through at all.

You can write or paste your Post or E-Mail into Microsoft Word, < File > Menu
---> < Properties > Page, and get a Character Count.

Forum Posts were limited to 8,000 Characters.

Not sure what a word limit would have to do with whether somone decides to reply to your email or not.

There is however I beleive a 7500 character limit, at which point it will still send, however, anything beyond 7500 characters (not words) will be cut off.

you can check your "sent" basket for your sent email's status - i.e. unread, read, read/deleted, unread/deleted by the recipient.

If you don't see your email in your sent basket, you could be tripping an email filter, read the following:

What causes the message "Save to somplace else and try to send later" ?
Where exactly do I save it and how do I send it later?
Is it the charcater count? And does that count include the message I am responding to?
Is there a "time limit"? I'm not the swiftest typist in the world and sometimes I take quite some time to type my message.

A mod will likely come along shortly with the real facts but I believe there's a 15 minute time limit on the mail side. What many do is write their message in a different browser, AOL, Word, etc., then copy and paste onto POF. There are other options but this is probably the one most used.

Is there a "time limit"?

Yup. I'm not exactly sure how long it is. Quite awhile though.
I get timed out occasionally when writing a novel to someone. lol
If I've spent over a 1/2 hour writing someone; (or sometimes you get the door, phone, etc) I just copy the message with a couple mouse clicks and hit send on the message. Then sign back in if prompted. Normally, after signing back in, I can just back button a page or two and hit send again..but, I go ahead and copy it just incase.

I just sent an email. Didn't do a word count at all, sadly but it didn't go through. Period. Wrote it in\on Wordpad (2 finger bad typist on dial up) cut and pasted, but didn't save. Gone! But not sent. Only thing I wonder about is that when I was hitting the exclamation mark repeatedly an "at" sign was in there. I left it. Would that have stopped the email? Probably a dumb question.

Do not use the ---> @ Symbol, non-resolvable Character Encodings, Unicode, Chinese or anything else the System Filter does not recognize in your Message

Thanks Trapped. I wondered if that may have been it. That encoding etc. stuff ... couldn't decipher. 75 minutes gone from my life. Why did I not stay in typing class?!? Oh yeah .... boring! Dang it!

EDIT: I clicked on Character Encodings on your link. Please God ... tell me you didn't expect me to A: read it all and B: understand it? *head shake* Too deep for this old farmer
