Blimey, that's swift work to swing another meet into action on the same night. Well done!
If you're going to attract the usual/expected masses in such a short space of time though, it looks like you've got plenty of mailing to do, young man. Best get busy then!
Ooh, and have you got anyone in mind for the photography slot?
Regards

| **DERBY Meet @ Eastender's Bar, Rollerworld on 17th November 2007** Posted: 11/9/2007 9:52:39 AM | Hi again Milky
Please note that I have signed up in view of doing the photos.
I do, however, harbour certain reservations in respect of what, according to the posts above, is turning out to appear like a purely skating-oriented meet.
When I initially read the thread, I took it to mean that the "Eastender's Bar" may have been primarily geared to accommodate attendees who had no intention of skating in preference to merely socialising.
Hopefully, therefore, skating can be treated as a purely optional aside to what is more of a social outing along the lines of what usual meet revellers have come to expect. If that is the case, so as to attract as many folk as is humanly possible between now and the 17th, it may be advisable make things absolutely clear.
I'd hate to think some members might avoid the meet because they assume it's all about skating when that isn't the case.
No offence intended young fella; I'm merely attempting to muster as much non-skating company as I can. I'd hate to think I'd be sitting all by my little lonesome in the bar whilst everyone else was having fun rolling around and falling over!
Regards

| **DERBY Meet @ Eastender's Bar, Rollerworld on 17th November 2007** Posted: 11/9/2007 10:59:56 AM | well this is marvellous. I shall be back from a trip abroad just in time to come to this. It's been a long time since I had my roller boots on :)) so hope I haven't lost the knack.
I take it there is an ample bar there? (not that I need any dutch courage ;P) I see each guest can bring up to 3 guests, and I know just the people I can ask.

| **DERBY Meet @ Eastender's Bar, Rollerworld on 17th November 2007** Posted: 11/11/2007 4:07:46 PM | My plans had been cancelled for Saturday night, and I look at the meet threads, and woohoo...... a meet has been arranged in my home town of Derby :-)
Great work Milky, I look forward to meeting up with old friends, and making new ones.
If you have not been to a meet night before, and are a bit worried about attending this one, don't be..... It is a really relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and you will be made to feel most welcome.
Hiya don4REAL
If you are doing nothing Saturday night, hit that sign up button, and come along for a great Midlands meet night out.

| **DERBY Meet @ Eastender's Bar, Rollerworld on 17th November 2007** Posted: 11/12/2007 2:36:52 AM | Nice to note that this thread has been reinstalled and that the Rollerworld gathering is still going ahead. I suspect that much work in the form of negotiation has taken place in the last day or so.
Thankfully it seems adult reasoning has triumphed over apparent inflexibility to the benefit of so many members whom I guess, like me, were becoming somewhat disillusioned by even the remotest prospect of losing Derby as a location for these fantastic events.
I do not wish to prompt any debate that may again jeopardise either this or any future meet held anywhere in the UK. All I would like to do is make it known to all parties concerned, including Meet hosts/organisers, moderators, site owners and anyone else who may have instigated a satisfactory outcome that I fully and sincerely appreciate their efforts. On behalf of potentially hundreds of POF members and myself, thank you very much and well done.

Phew, Ghosty, I was beginning to wonder if I’d be all on my lonesome. Your company will be much appreciated, and I’m sure you’ll join me in encouraging any number of other members to join us. Hopefully on the night, we’ll have a bar full of bopping/drinking revellers and a rink equally packed with skaters carrying their own cushions.
Kazzimo wrote: “Your quite right BB, its not the case but let us not forget that a meet is what we make it.”
Couldn’t agree more Kazz. But equally in some cases a meet can be what others make it for us. In my experience, for various reasons, some meets are clearly better than others. Nice to see you’re attending.
See you all next Saturday

Yes it's great news that the meet is still going ahead, Though we all need to work together to make this a success in the short space of time we have left, so e-mail all your POF mates, encourage guests and even get texting if necessary. Remind them to sign up to the green link and e-mail me, Milkybarkid82 with the names of the guests being brought along.
I also stress that skating is only an option, it is not compulsory!!!

| **DERBY Meet @ Eastender's Bar, Rollerworld on 17th November 2007** Posted: 11/12/2007 10:39:21 AM | How on earth can I skate in a skin tight dress? Make room at that bar for me, but a lowish stool so I can hop on it please.
Oh something I have been meaning to ask, do you still have to put those straps over your feet and extend the metal bit to make them fit your shoe on skates these days?
