Might be an interesting idea.

Just thinking of logistics. Parkway/Turnpike for north/south 78/80 for east/west.

One suggestion might be slightly north of the Newark (ie Bloomfield) area to slightly south of I-78.
This allows people to get from most points with relatively little difficulty.

While all of these are great ideas . I like meeting new people and if I walk away with some new friends because of it that's great.
My only problem with these get togethers is I don't drive and mass transportation is almost non existant.
it doesn't matter if something is 15 minutes away by car or one hour away

Just some ideas to toss out:

-trumpets in Montclair (jazz club)
-famished frog bar (morristown)
-one of the NJ wineries -some have tours during weekends. In Feb. there is a wine & chocolate event by some of the state's wineries. Sounds like a winner to me. What do you think???

-some input guys. NY and PA are being creative. Step up.

I think it would be smarter to do a get together in NYC. Easy to get to & Plenty to do!

Cream Ridge Winery has a wine & chocolate event 2nd weekend in Feb. (2008 listing not yet posted but spoke to representative). Tour, speak with winemaster...etc. Open 11-5 on Sat & Sun. (they have own website).

Located near exit 7 of NJ Turnpike.
Sounds informal, centrally located, does not take up entire day, and a little different.

Don't know about you, but I'm peciling it in.

AC, NYC... all excellent general ideas.

However, I just reviewed the requirements on events hosting part of POF forums. Fairly specific as to what can be done/can't be done etc. I'll submit my proposal at beginning of 2008 and try to get approval for the winery visit Feb 11 12ish-2ish from the powers that be. If any one else has specific ideas as to place, time, etc. research it, get , go for it.

Happy New Year.

Function: Public Wine & Chocolate Tour/Tasting

Date: Saturday, Feb 9 2008

Time: noonish-2 P.M.ish

Place: Cream Ridge Winery, Cream Ridge N.J. 145 Route 539, Cream Ridge, N.J.

Cost: No admission charge

Directions: Direcions, phone number and e-mail of the winery are on their website.

I wrote to the manager there and this event is open to the public free of charge and I believe this would be a great way for fellow POF members too meet in a casual environment. The winery is located in central NJ Just off of exit #7 of the NJ Turnpike. I suggest having something that would clearly identify you as a POF member so not as to cause embarassment to others.

Happy New Year!

Its a nice place. Ive been to events there before. Is there a place for us to mingle though? I have been to a blue grass festival and thats outside, under a tent and you buy a glass for ten dollars.
Didnt know if they are having a tent or something for this event. In any event, its a nice place... good wine.
Are we going to be wearing name tags or something?
Thanks for organizing something in NJ Oysterloaf!

Good evening fellow POFers. My sister lives near Fort Dix in good ol' NJ. I'm trying to get her to sign up on POF (as I am here in Florida). I'm having a great time with it meeting new people and making new friends. I've had throw back quite a few fish but as the saying goes, there's plenty of fish in the sea!!! Nobody that I can click with yet or consider for long term. I know he's out there though. Anyway, the reason for my writing. I've been looking over the threads for NJ and really don't see to many in the area of Fort Dix (sorry though not too sure of the surrounding area --- was from Mercer County, West Windsor --- been down here since 75 but Jersey's HOME). My sister is 48 (to be 49 soon. Are there any get togethers that I can entice her with and maybe get her to sign-on to POF up there? They are a great way to break the ice with someone whose profile you see and want to meet but don't know what to write.

Thanks.

POF is a good dating site but for meet ups you should have her check out Meetups.com. They seem to have a lot going on. I'm not all that far from Fort Dix, a bit north by New Bruns but a lot of the stuff is in central NJ and down the shore anyways. She may have to travel a little bit to get out. If she really wants to meet ppl right in her own area suggest to her that she go to the United Way website and sign up for some volunteer work. Its great to meet new ppl AND help others at the same time. Good luck to your sis.

Good morning Jen (I believe that's your name because of the profile). Thanks for the suggestions. I'll relay the info. You have to love the country up home (in NJ) --- that's what I miss here. You just have to travel a bit to get both worlds. But hey, give me a choice and its the country with the woods in the back behind a find with a deer or two stand on the edge of the trees. That's what I miss!!! Okay, I've made myself homesick now.
