| Industrial music Defined Posted: 11/13/2007 4:38:50 PM | | I have been a fan of Industrial music since I was in my teens, listening to Ministry, KMFDM, and the Thrill Kill Kult. The past few years I have really been listening to alot. Metropolis records has put out alot good bands under their label like Wumpscut, Suicide Commandos, Chombichrist and etc. However I wish Pyschopomps would make a comeback. Since Cleopatra lost some of the sub labels, albums by Pyschopomps, Alien Sex Fiend, Genitorturers and etc. are hard to find. The great thing about Industrial is even though they had brief mainstream period in the mid 90's, it's all underground now. I just wanna know is there any fans out there, and what are some of your favorite bands? | |

| Any Industrial music fans? Posted: 11/13/2007 5:53:13 PM | | Yep, although I prefer what I would term Industrial Metal. Ministry, KMFDM are examples of this. Other bands are: Front Line Assembly, Funker Vogt, Front 242, Skinny Puppy. You could even consider early Fear Factory as Industrial Metal. | |

OH YEAH...
Industrial music is based off of various machinations.
One of my favorite niches of music.
I honestly could not name all of the industrial type groups that I love.
All of the above and MANY more.

They have always put out great albums over the years, but it would be nice to see Paul Barker with them one more time. I wonder if Al Jourgensen is going to further his side projects? Last I heard he was working on becoming a teacher, after his last tour was over. The Revolting**** last album was really good, it did took me by surprise Gibby Haynes and Jello Biafra working together on it. How can we forget Industrial supergroup Pigface, will there ever be another album?

| Any Industrial music fans? Posted: 11/15/2007 8:51:45 AM | Do you like, or even heard of 'Martial Industrial' music? Bands like Sophia (not to be confused with other bands called Sophis), Triarii, Cold Fusion etc. If not then I strongly recomend to listen to it if you can find them.
It's good apocalyptic battle music that sounds like a steam roller is slowly driving over your head.

| Any Industrial music fans? Posted: 11/15/2007 3:52:25 PM | | I've been into industrial for quite a while now. Ministry is probably my all time favorite. Lately I've really gotten into VNV Nation, Assemblage 23 & Modulate. I'm not really into the type of industrial where the singer sounds like he's vomiting. Of course I love the old standbys like Skinny Puppy & NIN (if you can call nin industrial).. | |

| Any Industrial music fans? Posted: 11/17/2007 4:57:44 PM | Skinny Puppy is a great band. I would like to see a rerelease of the album The Process. I always enjoy the albums like Too Dark Park, and Last Rights. As for NIN, I would consider them Industrial mainly their early stuff. To be honest I have not heard the last two albums, I have heard some people say it's good but easily forgettable. I am surprise though alot of people did not know that the hidden song Suck on the Broken album was originally done by Pigface with Trent Reznor on vocals. I was searching the internet about Ministry and I found out one of the former members Filth Pig era committed suicide by taking a knife to his own throat. The album Dark Side Of The Spoon was dedicated to him, I can't think of his name right now. There is a rumor on the net that Pyschopomps are getting back together, they always put out very intense stuff. Just listen to Pro Death Ravers, and Six Six Six Nights In Hell. | |

Some of the best KMFDM songs has him doing vocals. I have never been to a Pig show, but they always say it's very chaotic to a point cops and securities are always involved.

| Any Industrial music fans? Posted: 11/18/2007 8:47:37 PM | I pretty much stopped listening to Ministry when filth pig came out.. just didn't feel like it was up to snuff with the older stuff, then Houses of the Molé came out & I thought it was awesome..They just got better. I saw them play about 2 years ago and Al ended the show early because he was pissed at his roadie.. it was pretty funny but I was angry they didn't finish the show, I guess thier gettin old and cranky. With NIN, I've been a fan since 92 when Broken came out & been suckered in ever since.. I really can't explain it. I was ecstatic when my best friend at the time told me that there were 2 more songs on side 2 of Broken (back in the days of cassette tape)..Other than those 2 and the others I mentioned above would be Front 242 and Nitzerebb as my other favorites. | |

| Any Industrial music fans? Posted: 11/19/2007 2:58:48 AM | Right here, have been a fan since in my teens. Some of my favs would be TG, Covenant, F242, FLA, Death In June, Hocico, Skinny Puppy, Laibach , Stromkern, Nurse With Wound, Funk Vogt , with being more partial to classic EBM.
^ For fav Puppy albums it's a tie between Too dark Park and Bites.

| Any Industrial music fans? Posted: 11/21/2007 5:13:44 PM | | I've notice there is alot of Frontline Assembly fans. Do any of you listen to any of the side projects like Noise Unit, and Delerium? Personally I have not heard anything from his Delerium project. For anyone who is a KMFDM fan Metropolis records has rerelease albums Sascha Konietzko side project Excessive Force done with Buzz McKoy from Thrill Kill Kult. | |

I did, and it's definitely a great compilation for Trent to leave record company contracts with a bang!

| Any Industrial music fans? Posted: 11/22/2007 6:01:03 PM | I have listened to the NIN remix online, I think it's probably one of the better remix albums Trent has put out..Wasn't the release pushed back a few weeks due to the record company though? I can't wait till the Year Zero movie gets going and the next album comes out. | |

| Any Industrial music fans? Posted: 11/23/2007 10:35:19 PM | I was a fan of the old bands. The Chicago Wax Trax sound.
I haven't been able to get into the new stuff though. Sounds more like dark gothy music or hard thrash metal. I always liked that delicate balance between rock influence, darkness, and electronic music.
Ministry, TKK, Nitzer Ebb, KMFDM, Front 242, etc.
Makes me miss Medusa's.

| Any Industrial music fans? Posted: 11/23/2007 11:13:10 PM | I don't even like the word industrial. It can branch off into so many other subsects and genres.
Ministry was the first industrial stuff that I started listening to.
It evolved into many other different bands after that.
Coil was one of my all time favs.

I somewhat agree with you, but you got to consider all genres of music is guilty of it as well. Take a look at punk, metal, and etc. They all branch off to different genres, but all come back being labeled as their origins. Granted when ever a band comes up with something new and original. People has to slap a sticker on them and label it.

| Any Industrial music fans? Posted: 11/26/2007 7:09:47 AM | Well, I see that you've all done very well for yourselves by listing a bunch of lame copy cat soft core industrial posers, I have witnessed only one posted mention of the band that invented the art form " Throbbing Gristle ". There is no such thing as industrial music besides miss Genisis -P Orridge.
Not even Genisis invented the form.
Beat writers and experimentors Williams S. Burroughs and Brion Gyson, technically invented this form of music in the 50's and early 60's. Genisis -P Orridge was under the tutelage and wings of these much older gentle men who so heavily influenced our darker culture. Ingnorance of these facts abound with youth.
Burroughs and Gysin invented the philosophical system of the cut-up method, as first applied to literature, then film and sound recording. The first form of industrial music was a sound recording cut up Burroughs and Gysin did of street noises, barking dogs, clanging trash cans, electric saws, hammering and nails, television static, whispering voices, forming the music, while William Burroughs read his literature. From there Genesis -P orridge turned it into a legitamte form and named it such.
There is no such thing as industrial music besides Throbbing Gristle. Everything else is a lame copy cat.
Formed in 1976, the only musical movement that could match it's intensity and that was possibly even more hardcore was the N0-Wave movement that evolved out of stale punk rock. These bands were Teenage Jesus and the Jerks, D.N.A., Mars, The Swans, Foetus, James Chance and the Contortions, 8 - Eyed Spy, and the Theoretical Girls. All of which formed after and in the vein of the most ground breaking legendary band SUICIDE. This band even prefigures alot of industrial goth punk hardcore movements as it was spawned in 1971.
Out of all of the No-Wave performers, Lydia Lunch, of Teenage Jesus and the Jerks, proved herself to be the most hardcore female musician of all time. Up till this very day, there is no woman or man who can match her.
Except, Genesis - P Orridge, the ultimate identity transmorpher, who is now a fully operational certified female, or Pandrogenis, as he/she like to be called. Thus the only match to the hardcore crown is a transformed sexual being, miss Genesis.
Lydia Lunch, and Genisis -P Orridge.
The rest are wannabes, posers, hipsters, image who*res, and reckless stupid musicians. Well children, there is your history lesson, now maybe you'll stop listening to the crap and start listening to the real stuff. That is of course unless you can't stomach it and your more compfortable listening to Yanny and Enya like bands.

| Any Industrial music fans? Posted: 11/26/2007 6:04:07 PM | To necro vine message, I figure it was a matter of time before someone bomb blast their opinion. Everyone is entitled their opinion on here. So we may learn from one another, and introduce each other to stuff that some of us are not familiar with. But to come on here and call all these bands posers is rather redundant. I am aware of Genisis P-Orridge and he/she works with Throbbing Gristle and Pyschic TV. I'm not be a big fan of them and that's my opinion. I mean I like some of their stuff, I just don't go out of my way either. All these bands we mention are original and unique. You write like everything needs Genisis P-Orridge stamp of approval. One person can view Genisis as a living embodyment of art or a whore for attention. Genisis being a fully functional female, gee it's not like that hasn't been done before by many people before him. Besides today standards Genisis P-Orridge stuff is rather tamed, compared to whats out there. You mention the Swans and I love their work. I think M Gira and Jarbou has great voices, but prefer the 80's compared their 90's stuff. | |

It's just a label... get over yourself.
This is why I just said that I didn't like the name "industrial."
It can be branched to many other different forms.
Who really cares anyways... if it sounds cool, that is the bottom line.
It should be called electronic music, since this where most of it is derived from; in one way, or another.
