Anyone into it at all? I mean i like organic music but i like twisting up sounds for Drum&Bass.. Techno is good as long as it is dark. Progressive house is pretty cool too. Breaks are always a great..

I love electronic music, but have a HUGE issue with it... maybe you can help because even your short original post touches on it...

How many f*cking sub-genres can one form of music have????? I listen to music on my computer in my art studio and was TRYING to listen by genre for specific moods or whatever, but, when you look into the details of a piece of music, it's almost as if the artists (producers?) are simply making up new genres as they go.

I GET 'Drum & Bass', but it's a slippery slope from there... I think there are about 20 different sub-genres of 'house' for example.

Sorry about the rant. But I really do love Electronic. :-)

LOL, I've always thought the same thing.

Breakstep, dubstep, goa, trance, ambient, illbient.

C'mon, stop trying to be cool and just call it music. No need for all the ridiculous labels

Only thing Ive really listened to since I was about 11.
However, Im more into HardTrance/HardHouse/HardStyle/HardCore and Gabber. But I also like Bassline House/Garage.
I do love Jungle and HardStep as well.
Ive been spinning harder stuff (hardhouse and hardtrance) for about 8 years now.

Still love it.

I think its the sounds you get in electronic music. I love all the distinctive sounds you just dont get with hiphop or top40 kinda stuff!

I love Electronic Music, Big Beat is my favorite, Drum & Bass is 2nd I'm beginning to tell the difference between the others like House & Trance even though I can get those 2 mixed up. I'm more usually into the Electronic with no vocals, but I'm getting use to the one with vocals.

i absolutely love house (all subgenres of it!), psytrance including full on, melodic, goa, dark, morning, and forest trance. drum n bass (yes from the jazzy and atmospheric to the grimy jungle and ragga) i love dub, dubstep, and all types of chillout and ambient electronic. but by far psytrance is taking the world by STORM!

I have been producing jungle aka DnB for about 7 years. I have been djing for about 12. I am prob up there in the top orig jungle dj's in Canada. I used to run with a crew called BLK. Bottom Line Kru. Sub Genre's are based on styles inside the form. Like DnB you have Tech which is what i do and is a collective of Hardstep, Neuro, Tech etc. Also What they call wobble or cownstep which is jump up. I used to be a huge Jump up guy but that stuff is just lame.

Liquid funk. For the ladies. It's basically house oriented Drum And Bass. House sounds on a DnB break.

Ruffige. Towards the metalheadz stuff. Just really straight up non complicated Drum And Bass. Drums, Bass, and a pad or atmosphere of some sort.. Simple stupid. effective!

I really love the whole Brixton Trip-Hop thing. The smooth, downbeat stuff and some other bands that incorporate alot of these influences in their music.

Bands/artists like Air, The Thievery Corporation, Zero 7, Esthero, FC Kahuna, Sneakerpimps, Morcheeba etc

IF anyone has suggestions for some more bands or CD's, definitely let me know!

Tangerine Dream is my favorite. I remember when I was in college (early to mid 70's) there was a group called Tonto's Expanding Headband.

I love drum & bass! the more grimey the better.

electronic music scene as a whole is at a decline when it comes to holding onto new fans. I think production is getting better though.

I still have a tape from vinyl of them in my collection! What a great name for a band. I thought no one else had ever heard of them. Fever Tree is another band from the same era that I really like, too. They have 'sanfrisco girls' on youtube but frankly I think it is one of their lousier songs compared to the album "Creation"

Love electronic music... Tangerine Dream is incredible (Tyger, Force Majeure, Tangram, phaedra)

Also give Alan Parsons Project a listen
(PS. How do I get my youtube account back to the american setting? )

Here's my favorite song off his latest album someone stuck on youtube with some anime put to it

another song off his latest album

This man has worked with some of the greats! Abbey Road with the Beatles, Pink Floyd on darkside of the moon. He was doing looping techniques with analogue methods before computers were introduced as audio sequencers. He is a man ahead of his time.

PS -- As I listen to it now on my computer speakers I realize the bass sucks compared to hearing it on CD through my stereo speakers.

I can only laugh. There are only 20-something posts here and HERE is the list of mentioned Electronic Music "genres" (in quotes because it's ridiculous in my opinion):
Drum and Bass
Techno
Progressive House
Breaks
Breakstep
Dubstep
Goa
Trance
Ambient
Illbient
Hard Trance
Hard House
Hard Style
Hard Core
Gabber
Bassline House
Garage
Big Beat
Full On
Melodic
Dark
Morning
Forest Trance
Chillout
Psytrance
Hard Step
Neuro
Tech
Wobble
Cownstep
Jump Up
Brixton Trip Hop
Trip Hop
Happy Hardcore
and
Hip House

NO ONE could sit down, listen, and differentiate all of these sub genres! Maybe it has something to do with the musicians... they ALL want to feel they are onto something "new", so they pull a new sub-genre out of their butt, and, WHAM! NEW MUSIC. hehe
