I have notied a huge correlation between beautiful women and a love of boats. What is up with that. I'm wondering if it's just that they figure a man with a nice boat is successful, or do women really enjoy riding around on a boat? Ok this one wont go far but I tought I'd toss it out there.

I prefer boots to boats, but I think that's only because there aren't many men with boats in Yorkshire so I'm not really qualified to answer this question. I was just attracted to the thread because I thought it was a typo error.

Boats... I LOVE fishing, and I love the feeling of the wind on my skin and knowing that I can jump into the water and swim NAKED***WINK

A boat is an adventure, not like driving and not like flying, you can see nature, and be apart of it.

I personaly find that men with nice boats as "SHOW BOATERS" who can not afford what they have, lol. A BIG LOAN for their toys....

Heck I would be happy with a row boat if I found a man with a heart and soul.

It seems to be the simplest threads that go the furthest (half the 8 pages ones, I am surprised got 10 responses )

What's not to like about a boat (aside from fear of water)?

You're relaxing, BBQing, drinking, water skiing, enjoying the company of friends and family, enjoying great weather, in some cases traveling....

There just isn't much not to like.

Have you ever seen a stressed-out boat owner?

Most boat owners are confident and social. Plus its not cheap to own a boat... What is there for women NOT to like?

I was actually thinking that when I originally read this. LOL. I will correct my original post.. the only thing that's not to like is for the actual boat owner.

They can be a real pain, especially in colder areas where you only get 2 or 3 months usage out of the year. Maintenance, storage, repair/upkeep, over all responsibility, and now GAS is a HUGE issue too This is a weird one, but if you've ever been a boat owner, you'll know what I mean... you stress out over NOT using it. The boating season is short, and if you're busy for any reason and can't get out as often as you like, you start to stress over not being able to make the time, and start to feel like you're wasting your money. That can make you start to resent it rather than enjoying it.

The old joke is really more of a truism than it is humor:

What are the two best days of a boat owners life?

The day he buys it... and the day he sells it....

^^^ Ya, they can be fun. But a friend who got a nice ski/ day cruiser, used it about 3 or 4 times in as many years, is now selling it. In spite of keeping it near Big Bear lake, and having the Pacific Ocean 15 mins from his house. I think he'd agree. Also it seems everyones around when its time for a ride, only to disappear when it needs to be cleaned/ serviced.

He could'nt understand my lack of enthusiasm while trying to talk me into buying one myself, just after getting his.

Sorry, I forget my geographical location... I live in boater's paradise..

But I have to agree, it is WAY better to have a friend with a boat, than it is to actually OWN a boat. :)

Boats and boat maintenance are expensive - so naturally hot gold-diggers would be drawn to men with yachts.

As for liking boats - only if I can scuba dive off of it. Would I own one? Waste of money I think. Would I date a guy who had one - no, he's probably just being too flash with his money. I'd rather date a guy who donates that money to charity instead.

here over in my city, parking a boat in the harbour is a status symbol (with the exception of fishermen's boats for the fish market, and military vessels). only the parking fee costs several thousands each month, so if you want to show off, it's probably the best way

I live in one of those colder climates. All the people I know with boats seem to have to spend a lot of time with maintenance/upkeep issues. My eyes are sensitive to the sun so I don't even enjoy most boat rides.

Now I do see the appeal of a larger boat where you have a crew, indoor space, a bathroom, etc. However, I don't usually meet the kind of people who can afford that.

Hi Joe,
My dream is to live on a boat...but that's probably because my father has always lived on one, so it's my favorite place to be. There's nothing like sunrises, sunsets, the solitude, the ocean...everything about boating and sailing is just beautiful...and I actually don't want to live on an expensive yacht since it would ruin the "close to the water" effect for me...I don't want to feel like I'm in a floating mansion. So, a guy can be broke with a boat...and still attractive..lol ;) I have yet to find a guy on this site who wants this lifestyle (a lot of fakers and "well maybe someday...")

There is something very alluring about a boat. I've been on them since I was a little girl. From detroyers out at sea for the day and the ocean passing us by as I lean over the edge and watch and take in the wonderful salt air, to paddling a canoe through several lakes and pulling up to an island and eating a long leisurely lunch and then back out again. It's relaxing, fun, and a good work out most times!
