Posted: 5/27/2004 8:07:15 AM | Aw, and I thought it was a "secret admirers in general" thread... Because I have a good story... I was being stalked by a 7 year old. No, no, it's not one of those Michael Jackson things....
I used to do story time at Barnes & Noble twice a week and I was sitting down with some kids when I hear my name paged over the intercom. So I flag a co-worker down and get them to take a message, it's from a teacher.
So I think, OK, no big deal, someone wants to bring their class to the bookstore, happens all the time. I finish the story time and call the teacher.
"Hi, this is Jordan from Barnes & Noble, you called and left a message for me?"
"Yes, I need to set up a parent/teacher conference for...(child's name)."
"Excuse me?"
"Well, it's time to do another meeting with the parents."
"Are you under the impression that I'm somehow related to this child?"
"Well, he put down this phone number and your name as the parental contact."
"Maam, I do storytime at a bookstore, I'm not even married. I don't have children."
At that point she became very apologetic. The kid had put down my name and the bookstore's phone number on some form. What an incredibly bright kid. Almost made me proud to be a dad. ;^)
