| Does Anyone actually Date Here?
Posted: 12/11/2007 7:35:14 AM | I am finding out there is a lot of talk and flirting but is anyone serious about really finding that someone they want to spend the rest of their life with? I have been a member for quite some time, but never get dates or actually meet anyone.
Are guys afraid or what? Or is this just a game we play to keep entertained while we spend our evenings alone? Would love input on this subject. | |

Posted: 12/11/2007 7:49:12 AM | Yes. I like to cook for the people I meet here. Did you see the recent picture of my Christmas party baked brie? The secret is the special care and ingredients used to make the dough. It is coated many times during the baking process with Trader Joe Mesquite honey and melted butter. The rosemary sprigs are to represent Christmas trees. The sliced apples and pears add to the cranraisin/walnuts/honey mixture inside.

The second guy has become a very good friend and we talk often. The man I'm dating now had to put up with me canceling our first date 4 times, before we finally met. Or for that matter, what does it have to do with the thread entitled: "Get a grip of the reality of your age"? Not trying to be obnoxious or contrary, just trying to understand your seemingly "canned" response to two totally different discussion threads.
In answer to the OPs question, I'm part of a group of POF'ers on the SW coast of Florida and we're a pretty active group where several people are either currently dating or have dated and decided they would rather be friends (grins.......... or not as the case may be)............at any rate, some very nice acquaintanceships/friendships are being developed within the group and that's a success in itself...........at least to my way of thinking.

I believe there are some that meet here but never in a location that's close to me and I am not much for going out at night alone. Thanks for your input!

Posted: 12/11/2007 11:28:03 AM | Yes, people do make contact with others and sometimes get together for a date. I have met some wonderful guys from here, but either they live too far away, or there is something missing, or they want to get serious way too soon, yikes!
This site is only one tool to use if you want to get back into the dating game, but there are single groups forming all over the place for specific age groups and these are a good way to make new friends and join in some activities that you like, if nothing else.
The chances of finding someone here who meets your expectations can be like finding a needle in a haystack, but if you stop looking, you'll never find it!

My son had dates several girls from here, but the younger crowd I believe many be more adventurous. I am more than willing to take a chance.

My experience is dating in paticular is that people have unrealistic expectations. If you read some of the profiles you will see that. It seems that some of the ladies (and likely some of the men) want perfection. Great looks, good income, no past baggage (which we all have at least a little of). I mean, what is the deal? We all cannot look like Tom Sellick or Robert Redford and make that kind of money!
I have had two ladies lie about their smoking habit. Three ladies said after our initial meeting they enjoyed my company and will call. They never did. Yet I remain somewhat optomistic!
In closing, I hope ladies give "average" guys a chance. We may not be perfect but we do have a lot to offer. Much more than the "bad boys" I see ladies go after! | |

Money is important, but only inasmuch as you have enough to pay your bills. Romantic Love is worth more than the best looks or the most money. I think there has to be chemistry tho, maybe that's what you didn't have with the women you dated. I wish everyone lots of luck in finding "the one" for them, and believe there is someone special for everyone. An optimist - yeah!

Your profile seems fine. My only suggestion has to do with your photos. You have a very slight smile in one of them and aren't smiling in the others. Many people are very attracted by bright smiles. I know I love to see a man smiling on his profile. Perhaps including a smiling close-up photo might improve your number of contacts. It's just a thought. | |
