I write short fiction and longer fiction, so I thought I would put something up here for people to read. Enjoy!

You go through the motions, you step off the shuttle from the parking lot smelling the cool air outside the hospital. You catch the scent of fresh cut grass in your nose and look over your shoulder at the soft hint of flowers somewhere across the way. People brush passed you and they really don’t even notice, because you’ve stopped walking. You narrow your eyes and you draw breath, because it’s familiar and you can’t remember where you know it from. Then, it hits you. You’re not walking through the hallway anymore.
Now, you’re laying in that small twin bed with this pretty little girl that you thought you forgot about years ago. You’re waking up to the tender touch of her fingertips over your cheek and you can smell that perfume she wears when she just gets out of the shower, it’s something like vanilla but not quite. You slide your glasses back on and look at her, 4’ 11” slipped in black satin, knee length hair of ebony tied back and still glistening with drops of water. You smile, and she fades away like the gentle caress of her nails across your lips that made you want to kiss her small hands until she asked you to stop.
Then, here you are walking down the hall smiling and wondering why all of that came to an end. You know in the back of your head though, because you visit her everyday. You talk to her, but she never talks back; however, you like to think it’s because she doesn’t want you to be sad even though you know it’s because the dead don’t talk back. What ever keeps you walking though I suppose, and it’s easier sometimes to just be numb to it once in a while though it’s nice to think back to those days when you woke up smelling something like vanilla.

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. I meant to respond to this some time ago, but I've been a little busy. You have my apologies.

Sincerely...

Thank you very much. I am actually working on some other short pieces. I missed your post prior because I've been stupid busy with work. When I have something more I will definitely put it up. ^_^
