Beware

This is being posted in hopes it will help others. On Sunday Dec 10,2007 at 10:15 am, while on this site I heard a knock at my door. I assumed it was the neighbor wanting to borrow something. I opened the door to a 6 ft tall man, ( I'd never seen before)that appeared to be drunk or on drugs. He had his hand on the doorknob and he was yelling." Let me in!" I'm screaming for him to go away. I do not have a peek hole, however he made his way inside between me and the door. I was able due to his unsteadiness able to slam the door shut which hit him in the head leaving a huge knot and me torn ligments in my right hand. PLEASE! PLEASE! make sure who is on the other side of the door because it may be a sheep in wolves clothing.

good grief, girl. Do you realize how many times we have heard this story on POF.. Sometimes its true, but sometimes it is just BS and ppl trying to get attention.

Just use common sense when opening your door for god sakes.

Get a peek hole!
I am a 41 year old male in very good health, and I check to see who is on the other side before opening the door. More often than not, I do not open it unless I recognise the person.
I'll even give you instruction on how to install it correctly.

I did not post the reply for attention first off. Secondly, there is a code between me and my neighbor who I believed was there. I know I shouldn't been more careful...I was kidnapped and sexually assaulted 1 1/2 years ago and hospitalized. I've spent all this time looking over my shoulder and finally felt I could relax. I didn't ask for some moron to violate me and terrify my child. I actually fought and prayed. I hope you are never walking alone or sitting comfortably in your home and have someone decide they have the right to infringe on your safety. I posted to warn people so they can be more cautious than I was...I felt bad enough about it already...I'll keep my posts concerning safety to mtself from now on.

If you don't recognize them then you don't open the door!
At least invest n a door chain.....Geez what do they cost? $10.00 IF THAT?

Would you have heard a knock at your door if you weren't on this site?

Maybe you should have been in church since it was Sunday...

I was able due to his unsteadiness able to slam the door shut which hit him in the head leaving a huge knot

Please explain how you know it left a hugh knot...

Next thread...I installed a peek hole backwards and people are watching me, what do I do?

Sorry OP...I saw this, about 3 years ago... In an email.. The only difference was he was asking for directions..
In this day of high crime rate anyone opening their door to a stranger is nuts.
I call BullSh*t.....

I guess that's one of the benefits of living in Rural America. We own guns... We don't get knocks at the door. And if for some reason we do, we can open the door holding the gun...

I've heard that story before as well, and my recommendations, either get a peep hole, or a chain lock so the door can only be opened 4 inches...

because it may be a sheep in wolves clothing
