So guys, are you depressed regarding the whole online dating thing? Do, you feel like you invest a ton of time and effort and get no return? Fine tuning your profile to be the best that you can make it, reading profile after profile in detail until you find one who is in your league and who seems like a great match, agonizing over every word in the e-mail you send out, only to be ignored time after time?

So, you are probably thinking, "Well, there can't possibly be something wrong with every woman on this site, so it must be something wrong with me. Maybe I am just not tall / fit / handsome / rich / smart / funny enough?"

I'm here to tell you, it's not you, it IS (just about) every woman on this site!

"Bah! How could that be, you misogynistic egomaniacal **stard, you!" You say.

Hear me out! This dawned on me this shopping season. Take a breath, sit back, and look around. Do you realize what this site is for women? It is a man STORE! Women here are SHOPPING!

Let that sink in for a moment... These women are shopping for men, just like they shop for clothes and shoes. The reality of the situation should now be dawning on you, and a smile should be cracking on your face.

Think about how you, as a man, use this site. Probably a lot like you shop, huh? You have a purpose, you know what you want. You walk in, immediately head to the isle that has what you came in for, scan the shelves until you find what it is you wanted. Maybe compare one or two similar items to find the one that meets your needs (and budget) better. You make your choice, put it in your cart, and head for the register.

Now think about how women shop, and extrapolate that to their usage of this site. You should now be feeling a LOT better about why you aren't having as much luck as a great guy like yourself should.

So, what to do? What should be your plan of action? Well, first and foremost, don't take this, or any other dating site, so seriously. Online dating, like horoscopes and psychics, should be used for entertainment value only, and not the basis of important life decisions. Meet women in real life, you will be ignored far less often. For example, try walking up to them while they are shopping, you won't be bothering them, it wasn't like they were going to make a purchase decision anytime soon anyway.

Maybe it should be more like animal rescue. (man rescue) Imagine it. You walk through the lot of us and the one who licks your face and humps your leg goes home with you.

OP you overlooked another reality of this site. There are some women here that have a pocket full of money and are ready to lease with the option to buy.

But then there are some of us women that don't view shopping as a hobby.

BUT I do agree with your suggestion that guys approach more women in real life. Some of us ARE looking to "purchase" and not just browse.

There is an element of truth to your infomercial-esque rant.

There are fewer girls on the site, and they get way more messages. This is something every noob male needs to understand-the resources are a little more scarce, which means you have to work a little harder to get noticed.

I heard you out and I believe this is sick. You know why? It makes sense!!!! Hehehe.

Now if there were also red tag specials, two for the price of one, extended guarantees, free tech support, no questions asked return policy, and trade in for a newer model. Hehehe.

Been here a very short while, and it's already pretty obvious... there is (due to numbers) very few women who'll fit your profile.... and then, unlike real life, there are so many additional unknowns that you won't pick up in the short profile and several idealist photos.

I agree, if you don't take it too seriously and rely on it to change your life in any way... it can be entertaining....

OP: If you can find me a Christian Louboutin (sans red underside) that fits within my budget, I would sure appreciate it.

Oh sure, there are guys pretending to be CL, but they are not.

OT: I am hopeful that people will look at the wonderful prose the OP has provided and have a good laugh.

Above all else, taking things too seriously is a recipe for disaster. So sit back, enjoy the experience and perhaps that discerning woman will ooh and aah over you and snag ya before the Boxing Day sales begin.

Thanks for your comments Batgirl!

Well, I could look, but you should know that shoes of that caliber typically only go well on runway model types. Plus, if I were to find a pair in your 'budget' range, they would most certainly be fakes that probably wouldn't last for more than a few nights out on the town.

Hahahaha.. right.. and it's not a WOMAN STORE for the men? Nice moves.

I don't think you even know how women shop. You certainly have no clue about how I shop. I'll give you a hint though.. it's a LOT like how men shop.

Who ARE these girls? I wanna know so I can start hating them.

Not taking this site seriously, though.. that's decent advice.

You are absolutely right. Thank god. If I knew how to shop like a woman I would shot myself.

I'm not depressed. Why would this depress me? This site is great for rating yourself, finding out what kind of people have chemistry with you. It shows me what I need to improve on, I can troubleshoot myself, so to speak. Some of it I have control over and some I don't. But I really appreciate the friends I have made here as they have helped me alot. If I get depressed, it's not the site causing it, it's me and my attitude and /or mindset causing it, not Plenty of Fish. This sign should say Merry Christmas!

"try walking up to them while they are shopping, you won't be bothering them, it wasn't like they were going to make a purchase decision anytime soon anyway." Yeah easier said than done. The whole point of this site is to NOT have to do that. Some people just are too nervous for that kind of stuff. And your message is a bit vague. How exactly is comparing myself to a watermelon in the produce isle suppose to make me feel better? plz explain. thanks.

Canonlee: Re: msg 16

Why give up..... because of that. I don't understand giving up. Nothing worth having is
E A S Y....why do guys get depressed and throw in the stinking towel. Instead of giving up, take it as a "call to action". If it means losing weight, if it means an attitude adjustment, if it means getting more of a life for yourself so women will find you more interesting, than do it. Your helping yourself at the same time, regardless if you get a date off Fish because of it. Am I making any sense or just preachin' to the choir?

I'm glad these women are so picky. I respect them for it! I just congratulated a women on here who met somebody, they are very happy. Ask her boyfriend what he thinks of your theory? All their gonna do is use this post as an excuse to make fun of you. Is that what you want, sure seems like it.

OP are you having a "going out of business" sale? Or do you have the mini-travel size product?

Edit/Add: I have been too busy going on test drives to settle on just one model!!!

Haven't you been paying attention? These things do exist.

And, by the way, this _does_ say Merry Christmas in a roundabout way. The "X," although it resembles our letter, is the Greek letter chi, the first letter in the Greek name Christ." In English it should be Cmas.

What the OP says about his profile:

Fine tuning your profile to the best that you can make it,

Below is an excerpt from his rather lengthy profile:

I do date single moms, plural. I realize that your children come first, and that you won't have much time for me. So as long as you are okay with me dating 3 or 4 other single moms at the same time, things will work out fine, plus the kids can play together, and you all could take turns watching them.

Bigger girls are okay too. After all, it's just more to love, right? Well, in the case that it is too much to love, I could always get one or two of my friends to lend a hand!

I will not date vegetarians or vegans as I don't date outside my link on the food chain. Plus I consider it disrespectful to my heritage and ancestors who clawed their way tooth and nail so that I could eat comfortably as an omnivore. Also, it is always awkward asking a vegetarian to swallow, and you know what I say. If she doesn't like meat, she must not like the bone.

I appreciate a good sense of humor, I really do.
I don't understand why the women out there in POF land aren't falling all over themselves trying to "catch" this "funny" guy.
