Giving back for Christmas

I need a little help. Christmas is really different for me this year. I moved here the day before Thanksgiving. My family is all on the west coast and I won't really be doing anything for Christmas. I would like to give back and do something special for someone else or help where help would be needed. If you know of anywhere I can go to give of my time, please let me know. Being new to the community, I don't know what type of volunteer opportunities there are. If you are in Garland or near-by and know where my help could be used, please let me know.

Whatever you do...DON'T HELP THE HOMELESS.

Go to a hospital or an orphanage. Help out kids who don't have parents.

I'm sick of watching the news and seeing "needy families" receive gifts and noticing the TV that is bigger than mine and the xbox sitting next to it.

Most "charities" around the holidays are all a scam.

You could always write to a soldier or donate to the USO.

Tigger,
Try this website. I don't know if there is anything there you would be interested in but hopefully, you will find something not only for this time of the year but all year long.

Merry Christmas to you from one west coaster to another.
This is the first year I will spend tonight (Christmas eve) alone and tomorrow will go to my friends.
I had wanted to go to retirement or convalescent homes and sing them Christmas songs, but instead I sat around the house.
Today I did go out to the store and baked cookies and stuff like that.
I 100% understand your feeling and hope you have found something to do.
Again, Merry Christmas...
