| What is the most exotic place you have traveled? Posted: 12/30/2007 10:19:49 AM | | Lived in Cuba a while, that was unusual. Most remote would be BOSAWAS, a biosphere reserve in Nicaragua, one day by car and another by motorized dug-out canoe. Alligators along the shore. Watched a sloth swim across the river, far faster than they manage in trees. | |

| What is the most exotic place you have traveled? Posted: 12/30/2007 6:55:40 PM | I love to explore exotic destinations.
One of my favourite experiences three weeks backpacking in Yemen. By chance I met a German traveler my first day in San'a and we decided to hit some remote areas together including the walled city of Sad'a, the ruins of Marib and the town of Shibam , a rarely visited UNESCO world heritage site know as the Manhatten of the desert.
It is sometimes a difficult and risky place to travel and there really aren't any tourist facilities, but it is a rewarding experience.

But not very 3rd world in my opinion. There are areas, yes, but for the most part, not really. I also loved India, Malaysia, and China.

| What is the most exotic place you have traveled? Posted: 12/31/2007 11:29:21 AM | Most exotic would mean that it is the furthest away from home, would it not?
In that case it would be New Zealand, due to the time difference.
But in regards to the most culture-shocking, I would put it to Indonesia, Myanmar and India. Those places are all so incredibly diverse.

| What is the most exotic place you have traveled? Posted: 1/2/2008 10:17:09 AM | Generally a place is more exotic the less traveled it is. There is a web page mosttraveledpeople.com where you can find useful travel information for many exotic destinations. The least visited and therefore the most exotic locations are the following: Ashmore and Cartier Islands, Juan de Nova Island, Paracel Islands and Tromelin Islands.
I have been to some exotic locations like Tabatinga, Kigoma and Pontianak. Tabatinga is a town in Northwestern Brazil 1000 miles east of Manaus in the middle of the Amazon basin. Kigoma is a town in far western Tanzania bordering Lake Tanganyika. Pontianak is a town in Indonesian Borneo (Kalimantan) that is located exactly on the Equator.
