| 2008 travel plans!

alright, time to do some bragging and geared up for your next big adventure! So, spill, what are your 2008 travel plans?
As for me...well...I'm hoping to get over the British Isles this year...work related but I'm not complaining...London Calling.....see a bit of Scotland, Ireland too. Been before but I've not been to London since I was around 12 or 13 and on my trip to Ireland I missed seeing Dublin (GASP). Will know in a couple of weeks for sure but it looks like it is a go for this spring.
Then for the fall I'm going to head over to Paris...dates aren't decided yet but since I have a ticket with my name on it for whenever I want to go, I'll definately be there! I've been a few times but one can never get enough Paris. I might swing down to Nice, Cannes for a couple of days too as I've not yet see that part of France, but still deciding.
So, it is definately a Europe year!!!

Las Vegas NV in April to play soccer.
Alaskan Cruise in May or June.
Maybe--if we can get it together--down to Chile for some skiing in July.
And I am hoping to go to Mexico NEXT January for volleyball.
Now, if only I had enough vacation for all this! Time off *without pay* sucks... | |

Posted: 1/8/2008 6:39:45 PM | I'll probably take a road trip. Been to 48 states and only need MI and AK to say I have been to all 50. My cash flow is no where near where it was in years past, so any travel plans will be faitly minor.
But if my finances perk up this year or in the future I would love to visit parts of Africa. Uganda, Rwanda, Eritrea and Liberia are all places I would like to visit. | |

As far as Dublin is concerned, I was there about five years ago, and although there are some interesting things to see, and the city has certain charms, I found it a dirty, busy city. Like any big city there was too much traffic, it was expensive, and these annoying gypsies kept following me begging for money. I did some wonderful day trips from Dublin, heard some great music one night on a pub crawl, then was harassed by some drunk locals on the way back to where I was staying. I was glad to get to the country, and smaller towns. My favourite town was Galway. I would LOVE to get to Paris if just to get to a couple art museums. | |

Posted: 1/8/2008 9:25:44 PM | In March, I hit the road for eight months of music festivals and special events ... spring keeps me in the southeast, working festivals (blues, zydeco, rock and Americana) throughout Florida, Alabama and Louisana ... then I head to the Northeast for the summer ... upstate New York, Vermont and New Hampshire ... to work a series of shows (some music festivals but mostly smaller New England agricultural fairs) ... motor back to the South for a show in Arkansas (blues) and then head home to Florida to wrap my season with a series of Americana and rock music festivals in the fall. My downtime is spent sunning my a** and playing in the waters of the Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico, hiking the Adirondacks or Green Mountains, cycling wherever I find good road ... or off - road trails ... doing some serious primitive camping deep in the mountains and taking in the various sights and exploring the areas through which I'm traveling ...

Get out of Auckland if you have time. Go south to Rotorua & enjoy the thermal hot springs & parks, Or Go north of Auckland to the Bay of Islands on the east coast. Stunning beaches. & safe swimming (make sure to use sun screen cause our UV is really high here & you fair skinned brits will fry in minutes  )
As for me, In June I'm heading to Vienna, Slovenia, Croatia Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria & Greece...
Gonna work in Bulgaria doing 4WD tours for a while.
I will also be thinking of ways to not come back to NZ.  | |

Posted: 1/12/2008 3:15:49 AM | If you are definitely going to London, check to see if you are there whilst the First Emperor exhibition is on at the British museum, or the Tutankhamun exhibtion is on in O2 centre.
I know it's not exactly "travel" but if you are there at the same time it's a marvellous opportunity to view them. You have to prebook though. | |

Thinking of going to Puerto Vallarta (so if anyone's been there and has any tips please message me! Thanks!!).....to spend one week volunteering and one week chilling and checking out the local area!!
Would LOVE to head east to Ontario, and Halifax to visit my family (missing my two lil' nephews) later in the year...
Friends and I are thinking about a train trip across the country -perhaps see a show in New York and/or a baseball game!!! | |

Posted: 1/12/2008 8:59:56 PM | Belize in mid-Feb, France in May and that's as far as I have booked so far. Probably be going to San Francisco a couple of time, Victoria and perhaps Orlando. Generally, I enjoy the summers around here and in August, I start planning my trips for late fall and Xmas. I've got Panama and San Andres, Columbia on my list but with friends in Roatan, I'm desiring to get back down there too. I'm fortunate that I'm able to take a fair amount of time for travel, regardless I'd love to win the lottery and do nothing but see the world, with rest breaks taken at my favorite places.  | |

To Toronto, Canada, hopefully in early May for 10 days.
To Texas for 5 weeks in July-August, this would involve visiting some other places during that time too(Las Vegas, Mississippi and who knows what else).
Also in between these dates I might take some trips.
Haven't planned the rest of the year after the August yet. | |

Posted: 1/14/2008 7:25:25 PM | It is definately a year for travel. I just got back from mexico. I visited Mazatlan, Mesillas, Tequila and Guadalajara. It was awesome. I plan to be in europe in the spring too. I will be in the vecinity of London, Paris, Madrid, and hopefully Porugal. Check out air france. They have really good rates to London for the spring because they just opened a few new routes.
I'm also planing to be in Brazil in early fall. Or maybe Grece in the summer. I figure if not now...then when. | |

London!! trust me you havent missed anything, except there is now a ferrris wheel in the centre of the city, and they now charge you if you want to drive in most parts :S
as for me, im off to Benidorm, Spain for a week in October hopefully getting my passport sorted this week, and the deposit down by Feb. | |

If anybody plans to be in Dubai in February let me know. I'm looking for someone to share expenses on a hired 4WD to tour Oman for a week or two.
