The poor car/truck driving commuter is going to be paying through the nose for fuel soon.......it's bad enough now but $1.50 a ltre?? You going to make a change??

nope...i am keeping my family sedan...i get good mileage on it and gas costs are low compared to other vehicles...i can get to Vancover (from Vernon) with it only costing me about 30 bucks. (one way that is)...
"The poor car/truck driving communter is going to be paying throught the nose for fuel soon"
well i think its funny. Its all about choice and people choose what kind of vehicle they drive...I see this huge hummers, large SUV's and extended cab trucks on the road all the time...If you can afford the big toys dont complain about fueling them.

| $1.50 ltre by summer time......... Posted: 1/10/2008 5:57:05 PM | The high fuel cost will get many to make changes in the coming years. More public transportation users, small and more efficient cars, moving to be closer to work, school and shopping will all be actions taken by you and I in the coming years.
The life style that we all enjoy today will soon change.
nssp ask, "Why fuel prices goes up in summer?" Because we all drive further and more often in the summer time.
Enjoy life.

| $1.50 ltre by summer time......... Posted: 1/10/2008 7:32:13 PM | It's not that I or anyone else is complaining about the rising cost of fuel..... It's a neccessity we all need in one way or another, everything uses fuel whether you drive or ride, fuel efficiant vehicle or not, we ALL have to pay for it. My point of the post was ........how much is too much before we switch to alternative fuels??
I have'nt a clue as to the cost of an electric vehicle or how long it would take to make it pay for itself........ Even electricity is going up and up, how much is going to cost to keep a car charged?? I'm just curious if anyone reading has the ''skinny'' on alternative transpo.....

| $1.50 ltre by summer time......... Posted: 1/10/2008 7:40:52 PM | Wait for the prices of everything we buy go up ..
Truer words can't be said...!!
No matter what type of vehicle you drive personally, most businesses need trucks that are gas guzzlers. To pay for that fuel, gas or diesel, the cost of the services and products goes up. Simple economics. That means everything from food, to furniture, to getting a plumber, to building a house, hydro, natural gas....absolutely, and I mean absolutely everything goes up.
...Think about that the next time you think raising gas prices will help the environment, have people buy more fuel efficient vehicles...all for naught, as you'll pay more for everything else in your life, and that starts with increasing the price of my products which rely on my fleet of trucks (which will cost 50% more to operate than last year!! @ $1.50ltr) to get to consumers...oh joy...
and just think...they are talking about adding a carbon tax...too funny, i have 2 suggestions that will save the carbon tax, reduce greenhouse gases by 35% from vehicular traffic, reduce traffic, lower overall fuel consumption by 5 to 10%, and save families $1,000's a year ..all at the same time, but no government has the guts to do it...

| $1.50 ltre by summer time......... Posted: 1/10/2008 9:14:06 PM | Yep its about choice... some of us CHOOSE to drive the SUV because we need them to transport our families.
I believe it was in another thread that some one pointed out , with the merging of families (him and his kids, her and her kids, and maybe a couple together) the need for larger cars/trucks/SUVs has risen. If there wasn't demand for them then the car makers would not have made them.
I agree that the price of gas is getting a bit silly but they are not about to change. People need it so they will pay.

larger cars/trucks/SUVs really Devil? c'mon MOST cars only hold 5 people as do trucks and SUV's . Vans and "some SUV's" on the other hand make sense if you are pushing the "my family is larger than 5" card. I had a little Ford Escort wagon car ( seats 5 ) for a family of four ( plus 2 large dogs ) for years and it was amazing what we could pack into that little car. You are correct,. it IS about choices.

| $1.50 ltre by summer time......... Posted: 1/10/2008 9:36:26 PM | I choose to drive an SUV as well...my dog hates riding in the back of a truck in the winter...lol My jetski (not a watercraft sponge ) only burns about 10 gallons a day..pretty cheap entertainment..lol..
Nope, they aren't going to change...so, time to make more money..

| $1.50 ltre by summer time......... Posted: 1/10/2008 10:14:35 PM | Yep Panther... our SUV holds 8 and its needed. Now don't get me wrong... we did look at smaller SUV but they just didn't have the room we needed.
I must admit that I have cut back on my driving, try to do all my running around in the same area, and I have changed the way I drive..
I do miss my little 4 seater sports car but it was just not practial for us any more.
And as we bought a gently used truck... well I look at it as an other form of recycling
Happy driving to all and I hope everyone loves thier car/truck/SUV of choice as much as I ove my sports car and SUV

| $1.50 ltre by summer time......... Posted: 1/10/2008 10:16:38 PM | Always had a small 4 banger. My first was a beetle in the 70's, followed by a Dodge Omni, a couple of K- cars and a Cavalier. In the mid 80's I had a Mercury Topaz and had a VW bus for part of the 90's. I spend a good part without a car in 00's before a Toyota Celica and my present Ford Focus.
All of these were because I was/I am evironmentally concsious. I stop using spray cans back in the early 70's, been wearing natural fibers since the early 80's, garden and recycle, and bike for many years. Always enjoy walking for exersise and pleasure.
Because of the rising cost of energy, I know that my life style will change quite a bit in the next 10 or 15 years and I am looking forward to it.
Change is good.

Until they get better public transprtation many people won't use it. It's not convienent, nor can it be safe for those that work late at night and it doesn't go everywhere you need it to.
