I'm going to Niagra with my girl and wanted to know if anyone knows some downright romantic restaurants that we might dine at.
For accomodation I'm thinking the Hilton, it's got a suite with jacuzzi you can watch the falls from.

Any suggestions welcome.

I ate at the Rainforest cafe and Boston pizza the past time I was there, stay away from Dennys at 4 am its the only thing open and its grimey. Not teribly romantic and everything is incredibly insanely expensive on Clifton hill. If your in for a drive drive a little to Niagara on the Lake which is all cute romantic resturants in wine country with a really different atsmophere than clifton hill.

FACT:theres a kraft factory that makes an entire neighbourhood a few blocks away from clifton hill smell like kraft dinner.

Thanks!

Wolfgang Puck right by the Hilton is pretty good.

There is a bar on top of the Hilton called the Watermark, great view, pricey drinks.

No treally romantic but good food at a reasonable price is the Spicy Olive.

Niagara on the Lake and west of St. Catharines is wine country, some wineries have restaurants with good reps.

I agree, the Watermark is a nice restaurant with a view in the Falls, but I'd recommend getting away from the hustle and bustle.

For something a little bit more intimate and romantic, I would definitely recommend taking the drive down to Niagara on the Lake.. some of the restaurants I would recommend are:

--Ristorante Giardino's - 5 star Italian fine dining
--Any of the Vintage Hotel's Dining rooms www.vintage-hotels.com... if you dine here, you can call ahead and speak with the hotel concierge or hostess about having a bouqet of flowers or rose petals on the table before you arrive... it shows you thought ahead :)
--Wineries are also a nice place to dine at, Peller Estates and Hillebrand are both well known and fine dining.

These are the fine dining restaurants in NOTL with links to their pages so you can check them out:

^^^ yep, i was thinking the same as you sweet...niagara falls is nice but for old world charm and romance, i prefer niagara on the lake. lots of small, intimate inns with history and ambience. wine tours and such are always a lot of fun.

Um,,,,I went with my fiance. With the bars there, we were so drunk that romance really wasn't a factor. We drank Canadian Ice and got wrecked!!!! It was a fun time. Maid of the Mist was fun too. How beautiful the falls are. Trying going on one of the tours where you can go under the falls,,that would be kick butt! Have Fun!

Niagara Falls, especially now that the Festival of Lights is not on display is not that romantic, nor exciting, unless you want to gamble, drink or go to a few haunted houses.

Check out Niagara on the Lake instead.

Personally I love Niagara on the Lake. There are some fantastic hotels . My favourite is the Pillar and Post: with jacuzzi, fireplace and very romantic restaurants - you can rent snowshoes and skis. It's off the main drag so there's more privacy.
The Prince of Wales is also lovely, great rooms, lots of restaurants nearby.
But, the Hilton in Niagara Falls is very impressive and in winter it's really romantic.

I'm originally from Niagara Falls and I would recommend either Copacabana or the revolving restaurant at the top of the Skylon Tower.

I'm not sure about romantic places. But, the Hard Rock Cafe there is pretty good.

There's a steakhouse that overlooks the Falls above the inclined rail car on the Canadian side.
I guess in the evening it would be considered romantic.
But it's PRICEY.
And I went when the dollar was worth something.

Not much on the American side.
PS: Make sure you take your passport.

i spent pretty much half of last year in Niagara and you get a high five for the accommodation any of the hotels overlooking the falls is amazing so long as you get a room high enough. personally i like the embassy suites the best been there a few times over the years.

as far as restaurants go.....you could do the skylon tower but honestly there are so many places you can go and have an amazing night go during the day do a walk about the falls and take a look areund if you are staying in the Hilton or the embassy suites go to the front desk and request a concierge to help you out he/she will direct you where you want to go.

The Keg is nice, top floor of the Embassy Suites, dim lights, nice view of the Falls. For something really special the Red Chateau on Main St is beautiful. I have found the skylon tower to be a bit expensive and not all it is cracked up to be; basically you are paying for the view. What ever you decide, have a great time.

Bring a blanket and make up some food and take her to a park and have a nice picnic, looking over the Falls. Doing this after nightfall is even better, as the Falls are lit up and then you can just snuggle up with each other.

You've probably already been, but for others just checking this post....

The Brock hotel is very up scale..not sure how much u want to spend but all the hotels have a 2 night pkg which includes meals...

The Brock hotel has the most amazing restaurant its at the top of the hotel, (marilyn monro has stayed here, when she filmed the movie Niagara) the falls can be seen from the restaurant, it can be very romantic...probably need to book in advance...Its alot cheaper if you stay at this hotel and use the restaurant, otherwise you pay thru the nose....
The Falls are remarkable, check there schedule for changing of the lights on the falls....It is breathtaking!!

Have been to the Watermark in the Hilton, very nice and can also see the Falls and Sheraton Hotel has a restaurant with a view too...You can eat on the ground anytime....do something different and enjoy the natural wonder of the falls, while eating...that's a great memory right there!
have Fun.

Hi, try Chatters in Niagara Falls and The Red Rooster in Niagara on the Lake. 2 of my personal favourites. Both places are charming and the food is great

Take your girl for a ride on the Spanish Aerocar, very romantic :)

Try the Sheraton Fallsview. Beautiful hotel with a fab view of the Horseshoe Falls. Best view is from the 18 to 22nd floors.

After dinner, you can do the horse drawn carriage. That's at night by the falls.
