Posted: 1/13/2008 12:33:41 PM | Do you remember the days when it was exciting to just know you were going to see someone? All grown up now and sophisticated, I wonder if the crush attraction thing still exists. It’s been quite a long time for me since any woman has made me feel this way. Maybe it’s maturity, the fact that I kind of know what to expect, and a confidence thing. But I no longer fret over wondering is she will like me, or find me attractive. To tell you the truth, maybe it was better when you didn’t have so much relationship experience. It’s an almost forecasted, timed sequence of events now. Like a job interview we make sure he or she isn’t of the behavior, or type of person you’ve grown to dislike. The propensity to date on line, I think takes the thrill out of it. From a photo and a brief profile, you see one millionth of a person’s lifestyle and personality. Then you judge them safely from your chair with ease and convenience.

Because he said we're just friends, and because I really enjoy knowing him, I've decided to appreciate the way it is. I treat him like a buddy, no more, no less.
What I get from my little crush, tho', is a nice buzz from any time he's around, and I think if I tried to completely douse it, my experience of his company would suffer.
I channel that sparkly energy into my art, etc .. he's my 'muse', I guess.
As far as meeting other guys for potential dates, it's not even a motivation for me right now. I have personal issues that would complicate a mutual relationship so, actually, having this warm contentment toward my friend is okay at this point. It doesn't rule out the possibility of someone special happening, but it makes the single time a bit easier to endure.
If my buddy were to ask me out, quite frankly I think I'd be terrified. I wouldn't know what to do. I'm so practiced at being friends with men, that's all I understand. | |

Yes. I do have a crush for a lady here. She doesn't know it because, a; she lives so far away, and b; we would not "click" in real life. But I am always smitten with her posts and with her profile.

Posted: 1/13/2008 2:07:38 PM | It's not called a "crush" for nothing. I have to walk around for days and weeks feeling crushed when I know I feel too much for someone. It still pretty much means I'll let them walk all over me even when I know better. Most people learn to avoid pain. It makes me only want to date people where I feel little or nothing. Then I don't have to worry about feeling used or hurt. I haven't had a crush where he hasn't taken advantage of it once he knows. I think I gave up that he will feel the same way and avoid him.
Are you sure you want a crush? It seems to involve feeling crushed, used, and welcome doormat at best. You probably learned to avoid it like the plague. The pain tells me something, too. Now I remember why I don't do this, ouch, ow, agony, hell, pain, loss, and grief sucks then and now. | |

What I have before me is nothing more than some pixels, text, and HTML encryption. Some people's profiles appear to have more life in them but the key word is appear.

maybe it was better when you didn’t have so much relationship experience. I suppose in some ways it was better, definitely the spontaneity ruled more than in these days does but still I do love to let it shine when appropriate.
On the other hand, I know how far I can stretch ... to reach the hand because by the end of the day it is not what & how we think but what we do. | |
