| SUGGESTION: Removal of old threads Posted: 1/14/2008 4:20:51 AM | I was noticing some old threads came back up the other day, and I couldn't help but think, "This is over 2 yrs. old, who would want to read it?" This got me to thinking, why aren't we removing old threads? Yes, the topics are still relevant, but to a new user, they don't want want to read what a bunch of people who are no longer on the site have to say about the subject at hand.... they want to read about the opinions of people currently on the site. If someone piques your interest, you often go to see what they post, if they do..... but also, if you are a forum reader, you see someone's opinion that you agree with, you go to their profile to read about them. BUT... if it is an old thread, most forum posters don't post to it. I think that once a thread is a year old, or 18 mos. old, if we delete it, it will keep the forums fresher.
Also, maybe if there are a few "classic threads" like those that are ongoing stories, are ongoing poem lines, that sort of thing, then fine.... even have users vote on whether they are a classic or not.... as you switch over, send an email out to forum posters, asking for their opinon on "classic" threads..... keep these "classics" in a separate section of the forums, something along those lines.
Anyway, these are my suggestions on how to liven up the forums... because even if not everyone posts in the forums, I know a lot more people read them. .... JMHO
