| Purpose of desonide cream? Posted: 1/17/2008 6:25:13 AM | I know we have some very knowledgeable people on these forums so I thought I'd give this a try first.
I developed a nasty red bump on one of my eyelids about a month ago. It doesn't hurt or really affect me, but it's really unsightly. It didn't go away on it's own, so I went to see a doctor. As I am living in China, I didn't really understand a lot of what the doctor said, but he gave me a bottle of "Desonide cream" and told me to apply it twice a day.
My research told me that Desonide is an Rx only medicine used for "corticosteroid responsive dermatoses". He told me what I had was fairly normal and not difficult to treat, but I am just really curious what on earth "corticosteroid responsive dermatoses" is. I don't have any recurring skin disorders.

This creme is used for all sorts of allergic reactions like hives, so I'm not sure if that's what you have.

Basically it is just a topical steroid (most common one here is hydrocortisone cream) and most of them can be used on a huge wide variety of conditions to make them heal quicker. Save the extra when you're done and when you get a bad bug bite it'll help heal that up, too. Also good on everything but the most severe open burns.
Next time bring a mp3 type recorder with and record the doc then later you can have some one translate. Though I am surprised they did not get you a translator.
