Always been a pet person. I've had a dog, several cats and now two albino Ferrets. I've been sitting here watching them play, and they can make me lol pretty much anytime. They can change my mood in a heart beat. Dogs can sense your mood and come to your rescue every time, pick your spirits up and keep them there. They only to be loved and they will stay with you forever. Maybe we could learn a few lessons from them.

All I Need to Know I Learned From My Cat

Life is hard and then you nap.

Curiosity never killed anything except maybe a few hours

Variety is the spice of life: One day ignore people, the next day annoy them and play with them when they're busy.

When in doubt, cop an attitude.

Climb your way to the top -- that's why the drapes are there.

Never sleep alone when you can sleep on someone's face.

Make your mark in the world -- or at least spray in each corner.

When you go out into the world, always remember, being placed on a pedestal is a right, not a privilege.

Always give generously; a bird or rodent left on the bed tells them, "I care."

P.S.Now why is the neighbor’s dog hanging on the fence?

Yep, I've had three dogs since I was 19. The first one was a very mellow puppy I picked up from the SPCA that turned out to be a long haired german shepherd. She was a beautiful girl that lived to be 14 1/2. The second was also a long haired german shepherd as well (by now I was hooked on long hair german shepherds) , she was more asertive and more of a watch dog mentality but also great with kids. Sadly she died suddenly at the age of 10, cancer had spread throughout her body and you would never had known she had it. My third and current buddy is another long hair g/s , he is three and he's a bit of a dink but not in an agressive way, it's more of a being a little bugger kind of thing. I love them all and yes they do make life better.

I have always had pets in my life. Recently - 2 weeks before Christmas - my black and white cock*r spaniel, Tyrone, died. He was wild - a car chaser and so living to 14 was quite an accomplishment for him. He was also a very striking dog - like Snoopy in drag. I have a springer spaniel now and might foster an australian shepherd. It depends on my springer's reaction.

Tyrone was a fear biter. I didn't know it when I adopted him when he was one. There was some people he automatically liked - I was one of them. A few days after I got him he started snapping and biting people who put their hands down to pat him. It was a problem he had for most of his life. He became more docile as he aged and was a very sweet old dog.

I learned that aggression often has its roots in fear and this was a great lesson for me, because I was able to see that people who are aggressive are acting from a place of weakness. It helped me come to terms with nasty people.

Tyrone made it to 14 without been running over or ripping someone's hand off. I will never forget him.

I couldn't agree with you more, problem is you can usually help your pet, not people.

Pets are the best, especially dogs.......
Had a couple cats, one for 18 yrs.
I've one dog now that's in her 16th yr, gotter at 5 weeks old.
Only pet lovers will notice how non pet lovers react to things we pet lovers just accept as owners, without condition, we pet lovers know that reaction right??,lol.

But yah.......I adore animals in general.

Got to agree with Guido... Cats Suck!

My best bud died in September...he was a great dog...a great dog... my best bud for 13 years...a lovely Aussie Shep X.

It has been a great loss to our family, we were distraught with his passing...he was my best kid I always joked....lol...never talked back, always a good listener.

Got to love dogs....unconditional love.

I miss him so much....

pets, people. you can buy health care for both. now what about your company policies covering animals, ooooppsss, pets, to the detriment of the people health care dollars?and b4 you start saying i have no children, yet i pay for health care for other's children, keep in mind those children will grow up [hopefully] and contribute financially to your well being when you no longer do. i love pets myself, but this bs of company monies going to animal welfare? please enlighten me.

shall tell - Calm Down. I had two dogs up until very recently. I always paid all of their vet bills - reason: pet insurance was or seemed far to expensive for 2 dogs. Pet insurance is also very conditional, too. As soon as you pet shows any signs of having health problems, the pet loses types of coverage. Looking back on my vet bills, I would have came out ahead if I had my coxker insured at a very young age. This is the key get your pets insured when they are young and healthy.

Pets contribute to the health of people. Many studies have shown pet owners have lower blood pressure and are calmer. Perhaps, you should consider one. Also, many disabled people benefit from owning working dogs. I could go on and on about working dogs, but hopefully you get the point.

I also have grown up with animals. When I was younger we had horses, chickens, pigs, cows, sheep etc. Also always had a dog in the house. We currently have 4 dogs now. I dont think that I could ever live without the constant love and companionship I get from them. I have a 12 yr old Pitbull, as well as a 1 yr old Blue Heeler, 12 yr old Mini Schnauzer, and a 6 month old Pug puppy.
My Pitbull was trained as a companion dog when she was younger and visited the hospital regularly. Now she just goes up to the seniors home and loves every minute of it.

I grew up with a great dog. she was a german shepard/black lab /sheltie cross.
To boot she was also a trained guard dog. Trained to look like she would rip you to peices...but as well trained to NOT bite but just hold on. Many great stories of her chasing bums out of our garages when i was young.
I have had cats too...once way way to many...my boy got my girls pregnant before I got them to thier appt with the vet...lil bugger..

I havnt had a pet for a long time ..until recently. Well she really isnt my dog ..but she is. My bf got a boxer 2 months ago. She's awesome. The cool thing about her is that she's white and deaf. Her being deaf has had its challenges... but she's the only dog i know of that i can turn the vacuum cleaner on right beside her and there is NO reaction

I know growing up how my dog Sassy was my best friend and how I could tell her everything. I hope my daughter finds the same with our new puppy...Mind you our puppy will never hear a word she says...

Hey I was wondering something; we’re all worried about our dogs health and safety right. So I was checking the coolant on my truck today and I know that you have to be careful that your dog never tastes that crap as it can kill them.
Anyways I put the dog inside and after I was done I took the extra caution of spraying down the driveway just incase any thing spilt.
K to the question, yeah this may sound stupid but does coolant kill cats the way that it can kill a dog? I was just wondering as the neighbors cat who’s pretty cool comes over lots and I was wondering if cats like the taste the way that dogs do.

It will kill basically any mammal if there is enough of it. The problem with it, is that it tastes good, and that "something" that is in it, attracts everything.

Thanks Walts, I just don't get the taste thing. They say that dogs like the taste but what about the smell?
Also it's well known that Natives had a problem with it so why didn't it kill them? Of course it did but why is it that a teaspoon can knock a dog out for good?

It all has to do with how the mixture tastes sweet to them and yet their bodies cannot metabolize ethylene glycol.
this is a good website to read all about it,... too difficult to put in a nutshell.
http://www.petshealth.com/dr_library/antifreeze.html

Little OT: but.... NEVER, NEVER, NEVER give a cat Tylenol ( acetaminophen, Midol, excedrin, percoset etc.) ) it is extremely toxic and a very painful death too.

Me thinks cats are great. As a matter of fact I tried to grow some ................................ but I think I planted the kittens to deep.

Just put down my 15 year old Chow/Pit cross. Got her when she was 5 weeks old, actally she picked me lol. Was always a good freind. Now time to lay off the pet owing for a while. To hard to find someone to watch them when I take off for weeks at a time on the bike.

The answer to that question someonelikeyou, is yes. Anti-freeze is very toxic to cats, even moreso
than dogs because they are (mostly) much smaller. Ask at the place where you buy it, they have
some that aren't specially designed to deter animals drinking them (ie- without the sweet smell &
taste). If they don't have it, call the SPCA, or your local animal shelter. They will know where you
can get it.

ps- did you know that cats get very drunk on pickle juice? LOL

Dogs can sense your mood and come to your rescue every time, pick your spirits up and keep them there. They only to be loved and they will stay with you forever.

YUP, ya got to love them dogs, they are amazing pets, dogs can sense these things in hmans, very easily, and they are ALWAYS, there when you need them the most, and talk about loyalty, dogs are extremely loyal, and very protective of their master.

Cat's are fine, but, when it comes to not only a pet, ut, a good petfriend in need, then DOGS are the ome that rise to the top.

And WHO the heck ever said that dogs are dumb and stupid animals?

Well, they had better think twice on that, dogs are pretty darned smart animals, and pets, bu, BUT, very sensitive to how humans feel.

WHY?

Because, dogs, are probably the ONLY type of pet animal, that closely represents the human being.

And if you don't think dogs don't know what you are saying, when you talk, guess again, so, be very careful what and how yo say what, around a dog.

They just may very well, bark back at you, of what you had just said.

Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrough.

Pickle juice gets cats drunk? My dog eats pickles and she never seems to get drunk, guess cats and dogs are different. Sometimes I swear to god she gets stoned off of something she eats though. Like she acts like she just smoked a pound of weed!
And headache pills can kill a cat? I wondered why they put those safety lids on the bottles!
K so they say chocolate can kill a dog, that’s bullshit right?
