| How/Why is it important? Posted: 1/21/2008 5:19:25 PM | This question is in part a result of watching American Idol the other night, where this 20 year old kid felt it necessary to tell the host he had never kissed a girl because he didn't believe in it as he was a Christian.
My question is why did he (or anyone else in that position) feel it necessary to announce to the world this fact and open themselves to ridicule? What business is it of anyone, and what does it accomplish to say you are a virgin or have never kissed a by or girl??
Obviously I am missing something, so perhaps some on this group can clue me in.

But at best I'm going to say attention. Maybe hopes the public will view him as pure, sweet and innocent. Really just trying his hardest.
I hope he loses. | |

Its if he won that is really important......

Obviously I am missing something, so perhaps some on this group can clue me in. You got the country boy working his family farm and they show him sitting on a tractor giving his story......ah yes, there's a story to watch unfold.....Will this country boy adjust to the city lights and all the glamor that comes along with being in the big city as a contestant on American idol?
Then we have the young newlywed. Will the time apart and distance between her and the new hubby be too much of a strain as she reaches out for her stardom?
These are just two examples of the many on-going story lines behind the many other contestants auditioning/
In other words, this is more than just a singing completion in imo. And I also feel like it is a good possibility that the producers were clever enough to research these possible contestants out and ask everyone the same question, possibly something like,"Outside of the singing aspect of all this, what is the one thing about you that sets you apart from the others, makes you different or more unique?"....and there ya have it folks...American idol will be pulling in one of the largest viewed tv shows as many await not only the singing competition but also await with anticipation of how these stories unfold...so tune in next week *smiles*

Its is not a big deal he felt like saying that at the time
