However, though it isnt commonly knowing, the KS is half about courting rituals and initiating virgins on wedding nights. The good stuff comes at the end!

It adds a new dimention to the sexual experience, It is not only about the positions(like most people think), it is about the sensuality that comes with it.
If you are a spiritual person with a spiritual partner, you probably will invent your own karma sutra!
It is like hitting two guitar strings together to get the sound of an accord! the more strings you hit... the more melody you get, the book teaches, but I would say "improvisation is better"
when you create something new...either based on what you knew before or your own imagination.... it will be great!
The people who wrote the karma sutra were normal people with goals and imagination...

There is a joke about tantric sex, they say that the best place to have it is in trains, because the rhythmic vibration of the train is needed when two bodies are so close that there is no capability to give any significant movement!
I am talking about the YAB-YUM position here, which is the #1 in tantric sex.

Posted: 5/26/2005 2:16:12 PM | I've studied it and tried it and I'm going out on a limb here and go against the popular opinion and say it's over rated in my opinion.It's a control device mainly for the benefit of the woman.I don't want to have sex for 9 hours.There isn't much of anything I want to do for 9 hours if I'm not getting paid for it except maybe sleep,and that's only good for 5 or 6 hours to me,8 max.Maybe it's an age thing,but I would rather have really great,intense sex for thirty minutes(really great sex where both get off really well and that's just the intercourse part,I'm not including the foreplay in the half hour)than prolong the orgasm all day.My system doesn't like that.At some point,Mr.Happy says "screw you,I'm going to sleep" and he won't rise if all you've done for several hours is pump and play with the breathing stuff and all and not let him woof his cookies.
Tantric is one of those Eastern mysticism things that combines sexuality with spirituality.Since I don't really connect with all that spiritual jazz,it doesn't offer much to this occidental earth plane bound guy.
I'm all about doing my part to make sure sex is fun for both parties,but Tantric is too much like work.Sex to me is recreation. | |

My take is that it's a process of closing off all distractions and thoughts except for the awareness and sharing of your partner. It's not really about "sex", the act, as much as about perhaps a mental bonding/joining.
It almost certainly involves a lot of time and work with one partner to begin to get any "tantric" results, but most likely the most critical ingredient would be complete love and trust between the two.
In short, I think those who have or can achieve this tantric sex are probably already doing very well as a couple, and thus don't necessarily even need it. Those who really want it are probably looking for a physical sensation, and that's likely the last benefit you get. | |

I can see the scenario though - dude BSs his way thru a date, talks up tantric sex and the never-felt-before benefits for a girl, and manages to get her clothes off to demonstrate.
A few dozen candles, some hokey slow body motions, and he's getting what he really was after in the first place. If I were a girl I'd not even begin to believe a guy if he told me he could show/teach me tantric sex.
Incidentally, Oprah (wife's mag, really!) had a piece on that not too long ago. At least for the journalist who wrote the piece, the tantric "classes" she visited were little more than opportunities for exhibitionists and horny singles/couples to fool around. | |
