Does "no" ever mean "yes"?

I've heard several opinions on this and can't really seem to get an iron-clad answer as to when. I've heard things like "no" means "no" if she doesn't like him. So if she likes him, whats the "no" for in the first place? Is it just games people play?

I assume that people mean what they say unless they clue me into their code so I would say no means no until notified otherwise.

Yes, no means no, and I'd take it that way across the board to avoid any confusion. Any girl who says no when she means yes should learn the hard way not to play games. Make her put her money where her mouth is...walk away and forget about her.

If you're hot, no means yes. If you're butt-ugly, no always means no. Do yourself a favor, and put your tongue in the mouth, so speech is inaudible; then have your way with her. That way, you know you're hot, and yes is yes across the board. Love, Titus

OP, poor taste, cuz it implies rape. No means no, although from a guys perspective. Ive heard no turn into yes. And its hard, when other things are hard But all the times I pushed until no turned into yes. I wish Idve controlled my hormones. Out of self respect if nothing else. Not even taking respecting the person your trying to sleep ( etc ) with's feelings, into account.

Song lyrics describe this one best, OP. Then nobody can jump all over my a$$ for this post because (hopefully) I'll get away with claiming poetic licence. Here's 'Baby It's Cold Outside':

I really can't stay (Baby, it's cold outside)
I've got to go 'way (Baby, it's cold outside)
This evening has been (I've been hopin' that you'd drop in)
So very nice (I'll hold your hands, they're cold as ice)

My mother will start to worry (Hey beautiful, what's your hurry)
And father will be pacing the floor (Listen to that fireplace roar)
So really, I'd better scurry (Beautiful, please don't hurry)
Well, maybe just one drink more (Put some music on while I pour)

The neighbors might think (Baby, it's bad out there)
Say, what's in this drink (No cabs to be had out there)
I wish I knew how (Your eyes are like starlight now)
To break this spell (I'll take your hat, your hair looks swell)

I oughtta say no, no, no sir (You mind if I move in closer)
At least I'm gonna say that I tried (And what's the sense in hurting my pride)
I really can't stay (Oh baby, don't hold out)
Oh, but it's cold outside

I simply must go (Baby, it's cold outside)
The answer is no (Baby, it's cold outside)
The welcome has been (So lucky that you dropped in)
So nice and warm (Look out the window at that storm)

My sister will be suspicious (Your lips look delicious)
My brother will be there at the door (Waves upon a tropical shore)
My maiden aunt's mind is vicious (Gosh, your lips are delicious)
Well, maybe just a half a drink more (Never such a blizzard before)

I've got to get home (Baby, you'll freeze out there)
Say, lend me a comb (It's up to your knees out there)
It's really been grand (I thrill when you touch my hand)
Oh, but don't you see (How can you do this thing to me)

There's bound to be talk tomorrow (Well, think of my lifelong sorrow)
At least there will be plenty implied (If you caught pneumonia and died)
I really can't stay (Get over that hold out)
Oh, but baby it's cold outside

First of all, you are assuming everyone one understands your post.

We would be assuming your intent.

People who cannot discern the difference between these two words, need a dictionary, maybe a language coach and should be older than one year old.

No never means yes--- but sometimes yes means no.
I always wait for people to rent a billboard before I believe anything they say.
I find that's the easiest way to tell if they're serious.
You'd be surprised how many people are open to the idea..... go head-- suggest it to your next date.

And if you bought that one, I've got some swamp land for sale.....

I think the ladies that say "no" and mean "yes" are the female version of "players". They are trying to see "how much" a man likes them, and playing "hard to get" is easier than being honest and straightforward. What does she have to lose? If he walks away, she can tell herself "he didn't like me THAT much, cause he didn't try very hard." If he keeps at it, she just tells herself "he must REALLY like me to put all that effort in."

Just my two-cents.

And if you happen to be interacting sexually with a person who uses the two interchangeably because of some "naughty" feeling--- PICK ANOTHER WORD THAT MEANS NO!

I don't care if it's "pantaloons" --- pick a word that means no!

Sometimes "no" means "no."
Sometimes "no" means "no" but you have my permission to try and talk me into changing my mind.
Sometimes "no" means "no" but if you keep it up you might wear me down.
Sometimes "no" means "no" but don't stop what you are doing.

Despite Tbone4u's screen name, and the contents of his profile [have you read it?], I stand by my original post. If anyone wants to start a flame war over it then be my guest. It will simply bury this thread once and for all...a win/win situation in my books. If a woman or man says no, then obviously one should not jump their bones and rape them. That's just common sense. But there's a fine art to truly romancing an individual of either sex that's as old as time itself.

And it is captured quite accurately with words and music written by Frank Loesser in 1944. You'll note he never does jump her bones and she really would like to stay for at least a little while. Neither are players IMO -- rather they are two people negotiating the terms of their relationship. As Lyndee1 so honestly states: Sometimes "no" means "no" but don't stop what you are doing. "I'll give you 10 minutes to stop that," is another humourous and flirtatious line that those who are not semi-illiterate well understand.

If you want to avoid confusion there, come up with a word that has nothing to do with being intimate.

This way there is no confusion as to what actually means no. Some one can say "No, don't, stop" which actually translates to "No, don't stop!"

If you have a "keyword" you never have to worry about what is said. This also comes in handy when getting really wild and role playing or acting out a fantasy.

If you don't have this in place.... then No always means No.... If he/she gets upset because they didn't really mean no.... suggest this to them and avoid future confusion.

The short answer is...yes. Sometimes no does mean yes. quite often tho, it means "she's not sure." Hope that helps.

you got that right. I hate the contradiction of mind games. People who play these kinds of games should be taught a hard lesson.

Fecking true that. I personally dont want a woman heavy into mind games. My recent ex, was the queen of mind games. If I have to pick a combination lock and bypass a security system, to get into your panties. Then your not the woman for me. Reading between the lines is tedious. If Im willing to go there and the other person isnt. Then Im having to work too hard or sumthing.

Which of course, life being the frustrating joke, it can be so easily. Isnt to say, that a male type person. Wont find themselves ready for sex, before a femme type person will. I mean pretty much were ready after saying hi, how are U ? Provided she's attractive and were not drunk ( in which case all bets are off, lol. )

To reiterate though, reading between the lines, is a recipe for heartache. So to me atm, no means no. And if U/someone wants to pursue it beyond that. Make it clear that no means no. But U are into me. And would like to know more etc. Might respect that, might be hurt and draw away. Isnt luv grand ????

Ahhhh....but sometimes 'no' means 'not yet'....'not now'.

Time and energy are wonderful things, if 'no' means 'no', it's pretty clear by the actions that surround it...ditto for the others.

Make her put her money where her mouth is...walk away and forget about her.

Clearly you don't get much; or else, you are settling for the hags, uglies, and old hides.

Girls often believe they shouldn't but they may not mind being coaxed into it. If you are unwilling coax a girl then do without. The truth is that women are coy. Not just human females but also birds and other mammals.

LMAO, Pbear511.

Exactly.

No means no, unless you are immature as hell, emotionally and socially dysfunctional, and seriously in need of therapy.

I always say what I mean, and mean what I say...No is No, Yes is Yes, and Maybe is Maybe.

Wait, hold on.

Be careful with the "maybe" thing.

Sometimes people say "maybe", when they're being polite and want to say no.
Sometimes people say "maybe", when they mean yes, but would like to think on it or be convinced.
Sometimes people say "maybe", when they don't know the answer themselves, or the answer could be variable.

Maybe doesn't always mean what it means.
