Teaching/volunteering abroad in the summer

I am hoping to teach (paid or unpaid) or volunteer abroad during the summer months. I am having trouble finding any information on the internet. It seems like most of the websites dealing with volunteering are basically selling their services, or offering volunteer 'holidays.' And I'm not sure how to track down organizations that offer summer courses abroad. Any ideas?

I don’t have an answer to your question, but I teach in California and think we should trade places this summer.

There are quite a lot of sites, most of them are about teaching English in various countries. Did you want to teach corporate/business studies or regular school curriculum subjects? If you want to teach business skills, you could email various embassies and ask them for reputable business schools or colleges.
There are also teacher exchange programs, you can find out about them through your teacher's federation or union most likely.

I've been reading up on different blogs for people's experiences. Thailand seems to have the most glowing reports due to cultural attitudes and respect for teachers as a profession. If you want to maximise earning potential, make sure you are not locked into a contract that prohibits you from taking evening senior classes, some schools do this. One place I would definitely NOT recommend is remote/ Indigenous settlements in Australia, some towns are extremely unsafe for women with rape being commonplace.
