| | Where can I meet a guy other than the internet?Page 1 of 7 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7) | | I am truely wondering if there is somewhere that I can meet a guy other than the internet that is over 35? I don't like the bars. It's all really young people. Where do you go? How do you find a place that caters to people over 30? | |

How do you find a place that caters to people over 30? I'm being facetious when I say try looking at car rental places like Hertz, Dollar, or Enterprise. They cater to people over 25 who have good credit. Let's go up one from that -- how about the people who rent vacation condos? These people are active, have disposable income, and treat themselves well.
So....maybe being in the travel industry would put you in the path of older and more established people.
Basically, it boils down to your circle of contacts. Who do you know? Family. Friends. Coworkers. Put the word out that you are in the market, and let them bring people to you. Yes, many will be duds, but the advantage is that they are connected to your life, and so it's easier to contact them or meet at places you may both frequent.
The BOTTOM LINE is that you have to get out of the house to meet people. You have to go where people are, because no men will want to drive to your home just to have you slam the door in their face and say you feel like going out today.

| Where can I meet a guy other than the internet? Posted: 2/10/2008 9:27:36 AM | you can go to the strip clubs...euphemistically called "gentlemen's clubs". you'll find a whole bunch of old geezers in there drooling over you
Ok...ok...I know there are those that don't appreciate my sense of humor.
Seriously, try a social singles club or organization in you area. Or a interest group that is is appealing to you. If there isn't one then start one. It's a good way to interact with someone in a group, no pressure involved, before you would potentially go out together.

Atlanta has a singles dance-club-like organization that meets at a hotel (convenient, 'eh?) every month, I think (not my cup of tea, but you may find something like it in Sedalia).
Volleyball, or some sport with amateur clubs, isn't a bad idea. I ref USA vb, and the adult leagues are always looking for players, at all levels. Missouri is an active region, too.

I'd also try for things that interest you like hobbies, sports, entertainment. Shoot for things you wouldn't mind doing if you had to do them by yourself. That way if he leaves you'll still be doing things you enjoy.

The man to woman ratio is very high. You are also randomly assigned a table and moved around a bit from table to table during a tournament. It's a great way to "bump" into people and get to know them. I wish more women knew this so they'd show up.

Laundromat Bookstore Grocery store Sporting events (whether you are watching or participating) POF or other singles events Through friends/family/co-workers Stock car races Horse races
Men are everywhere - it is how you present yourself that will get you meeting them. Keep your head up, eyes open and a smile on your face and don't be afraid to say 'Hi'. Even if you meet someone who isn't right for you, he might be right for a friend of yours.

Wonder where I would find men over 40? Hmmm maybe in Wal-mart pharmacy buying geritol?
Actually, you gave me an idea.....try the electronic stores like Best Buy. Buy a guy a computer, or big-screen TV and he will move in with you! But....be prepared to play 2nd fiddle to the gadgets! In six months, you will be wondering how to GET RID of him!

If you don't meet anybody at least you had a good time.
Also, not all bars attract the younger people you just have to look. Try to find a piano bar or jazz night. Some people say try church but thats not too much my thing.
Good luck! | |

| Where can I meet a guy other than the internet? Posted: 2/11/2008 8:02:42 PM | Hello OP, I love your photo, first thing! May I suggest you try to come to some of the events we have in the Kansas City area? They are usually well-attended by folks in our age range & up (I'm 41). I know it is a bit of a drive for you, but I also think, having been to Sedalia many times, that you may have better luck meeting people here. No offense to Sedalia, because I think it is a lovely place, but it is a smaller town, so I imagine there aren't as many options for night life and meeting people. I don't know if you are too far away to get the notices about events in my area, but if you are interested just e-mail me and I'd be happy to send along any info I can. There is an event coming up on the 23rd at a local club that caters to people of all ages. I'd say easily half the people that usually show up are in our range. I also like the suggestions about the sporting goods store or the local bait shop - I actually like fishing, and I am usually the only woman in the place when I go to look at tackle & such. I'm the rare woman that likes to see a man have a picture of his bass boat in his profile! Good luck to you OP! | |
