| Belly Fat - Help any tips on how to lose it, thanks Posted: 2/10/2008 11:23:11 AM | Hi
I am trying to lose weight, most of my weight is around my belly. I have checked the different posts, and I did not see anyone mention, on pointers on how to lose belly fat. I seem bloated alot and my pants are always tight. I have tried different things, and nothing seems to be working. Does any one have any tips on how to reduce belly fat? Any suggestions or tips would be really appreciated. Thank You

The way it works is by trapping fresh oxygen into the stomache and colon which helps releases toxins from your body. It takes about 20 minutes, they suggest twice a day. Here is the link:

| Belly Fat - Help any tips on how to lose it, thanks Posted: 2/10/2008 1:05:00 PM | Doing sit ups/other ab work won't help you lose belly fat AT ALL. It's hard to get any sort of localized fat loss, I think medical opinion is that it is impossible, but I've found that a high protein diet helped me lose the most in my waist.
Also DIM is a supplement that affects the hormone balance, it helps metabolize the estrogen that will often cause fat storage around your midsection, you can give that a try.

I have never heard of a DIM supplement, what exactly is it and what does it stand for? How many grams of protein I day, would you consider a high protein diet? Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank You Have a great day. Precious

| Belly Fat - Help any tips on how to lose it, thanks Posted: 2/10/2008 1:39:34 PM | Ah, excellent topic! It's one of my big beefs. The last time I was down South, local women pointed at my belly endearingly, rocking an imaginary baby and smiled, "Baybay!"
I attend the gym, can do many sit-ups and crunches and I still look like I'm in my second tremester. It has nothing to do with lack of muscle; it's all fat! So, I'll share with you all that I know so far and what I'm trying - 1. CLA - conjugated linoleic acid - I think it's an omega 6 oil that purportedly reduces the size of new fat cells around the gut. I've just started taking them. Will report back in 2 months.
2. Hypoactive thyroid - Get your thyroid checked (TSH). Thyroid problems can induce belly fat. Same with Parathyroid gland (PTH). Get that checked, too.
3. Age. Changing hormones have devilish fun with our bodies.
4. Genetics. What did your parents look like?
I have thyroid (and suspected parathyroid) problems, am getting on in years and have parents who sported the "pear" shape. I'm looking forward to any other ideas on losing belly fat.

| Belly Fat - Help any tips on how to lose it, thanks Posted: 2/10/2008 1:48:50 PM | precious-2424: High protein...actually correction, i should have called it low carb. I was aiming for less than 50 g carbs a day and so necessarily most of my nutrition was coming from protein.
DIM (di,-indolyl 3 methane ...i think) is derived from cabbage, broccoli & other crucifers, eating a lot of these vegetables is beneficial too. It is actually a really healthy compound, it's being investigated for cancer fighting effects, works as an anti-parasitic agent AND helps get rid of belly fat, haha. The dosage you'll see sold in vitamin stores is 100-200 mg.

| Belly Fat - Help any tips on how to lose it, thanks Posted: 2/10/2008 3:17:05 PM | first, you need to make sure you don't have some kind of problem causing swelling and/or bloating.
the cla (tonalin) can help a great deal. people swear by it. but, you do need to watch your diet as well. do lots of leafy green vegetables, lots of lean poultry and fish and lots of cayenne. avoid sugar, wheat and dairy.
now...i have a whole lecture/demonstration i do about how most people do abwork wrong. sit-ups and crunches do more harm than good unless performed properly. the best way i can explain it is to visualize navel to spine and curl up around that. or do it sitting in a chair. contract your abs as though you're laughing. contract them until your back curves forward. keep your shoulders straight (don't collapse). try to maintain neck, shoulders and upper back in a spacehold while the center contracts. martha graham created an entire movement vocabulary around 'contraction and release.' maybe google her for more information. it's the best abwork in the world.
hope this helps. | |

just to sound like a broken record, t-tapp and the matthew's method. You can google them. Hi Captain, T-tapp wants money up front before you get to see the product. Not an appealing way of marketing something.
Your local YMCA has a health and fitness advisor and they'll help you in anyway they can! Not all YMCAs are created equal. The one I used has an attractive trashy head trainer who helps herself to the spouses of members. She ultimately helped me lose weight via the depression weight-loss program.

You must not have looked too hard on her site, as she has several moves in the try before you buy section (all free!), at least four of which target the midsection. She also has a book out that you could peruse at a bookstore.

This method is interesting in that sometimes I have gotten the impression that it's my organs that are the problem.

Very wierd, though. I've never seen anything like this That, I can't argue with at all. I never even know how to describe it to someone. However, I love it. And if you really focus on the movement and form like she says to, it's a pretty intense workout. (Oh, and making others try to do thread the needle can be entertaining! :))

| Belly Fat - Help any tips on how to lose it, thanks Posted: 2/12/2008 12:21:03 PM | Don't try any pills. Don't try any breathing methods and stretching exercising in hopes of reducing localized fat. Why do people fall for pills and all sorts of things.
Some people just replace the fat with water in the cells and end up looking the same as before and still think they are fat. Some have thyroid conditions that have adverse effects on their system. Some just eat more than they expend and this is where the key comes in. It's really simple!
Expend more than you eat and you will lose weight. No other method does it better. I laugh at diet commercials advertising pills and other things.
You think getting a six pack is going to happen overnight? Be realistic and set some targets and goals you will meet so no disappointment from failing. That will inspire you to do more since you have the confidence. Eat less and do reps of situps or anything that will use that muscle group. Its sucks sometime to do it and we will all tell you this. Today i forced myself out on the bike for a 40 miler because if i dont by summer i wont be able to spin fast enough to be competitive and i wont be able to do 100 miles in just under 5 hours. Feel the pain.
Just Do It!
You know the commercial and in case you don't it's a slogan from NIKE

| Belly Fat - Help any tips on how to lose it, thanks Posted: 2/12/2008 1:37:55 PM | i recently started to become focussed on doing something with my health. i have made significant improvements through diet and exercise. i eat good and love good food (so don't get me wrong). just replace chips with triscuits or wheat thins. not too much fast food. the common sense things. Good foods are fish, cantalope, broccoli, and many others.
also, exersice helps. weather it's sit-ups, walking, leg lifts, jumping rope, yoga, breathing, whatever...it helps to be active. it helped me to take measurements when i started working out and then to continue taking measurements as time passed (ie: a tape measure around my chest, waist). different strokes for different folks so if you can stick to it like i have, you will see improvement and gain motivation from that. after a while you'll get a routine you're comfortable with and couldn't imagine not building on it.
suz2b, its great that you have thought about it. i hope you find a plan that fits you. email me if you have ?'s.

I don't eat chips or triscuits or wheat thins. No fast food either - not available in the sticks where I live. I eat healthy. I exercise at a gym and exercise with life - haul and split my own wood for heating. This belly fat thing is beyond common sense.
