After the recent Glasgow Event

I have had a number of mails from people asking for Events in all Areas of Scotland

Hosts on POF are volunteers so if you would like to organise something in your area of Scotland please contact UK Events Coordinator

There are no designated hosts for any area. You can still host even if someone else has hosted an event there.

And also mails making suggestions about future meet nights but not wishing to host one.

Please post your suggestions & ideas for future events, this means all potential hosts get to see them and not just my inbox.

Potential Hosts & Attendees will need to read the rules here:

The idea of lots of easter bunny girls appeals to me but how do you dress as a hare?
Ah well hare today gone tomorrow!
What about a saints and sinners theme? Worth a thought maybe?
There was a lot of people dressed up in Madness on the Saturday and we could certainly fill that place up.
cant wait to meet y'all again

We all know that the next venue is to be lot bigger have a decent size dance floor so possibly sort of function suite would have to be hired. Now we have to think about raising the money for it

[This NOT allowed under any circumstance - FEES / COLLECTIONS BY HOSTS: ITS A NO NO!Please read these rules FAQ - Planning on Hosting a Event? Things you need to Know ~*~Puddles~*~]

Wow folks, I go to work for 24 hours and have you all been busy or what lol....I can tell you are all champing at the bit for the next meet

Right, first things first (god, where do I start)

The Ladies Night and The Guys Night was not an official POF night out, this was just in addition to the monthly meets that i'm going to do my best to get off the ground. I have had so many messages from girls who don't have many 'single' friends for social events, so glasgowrose thought a good idea to start getting people out and about to meet new friends to go to such events with, was to have a bunch of us girls meet up for a few drinks in Glasgow one night....then one of the guys I was chatting to said it was basically the same for guys, a lot of them didn't have 'man' friends (nothing kinky boys) to go to social events with.
We won't be able to post or advertise for this one boys and girls so you can message me personally if this is something you think you would like to do. (and just for the record, Glasgowrose and myself will be in the Maltman this coming Friday so feel free to join us folks)

Right, meet suggestions. Please think these ones through very carefully before you all jump doon my throat and say you don't like or you don't want.....these offers have been very generously made to me for a meet and it would be rude not to even give them a try.

1st was the Madness offer. I'm waiting to hear back from the Madness team about what exactly they can give us. It was along the lines of a Friday night, upstairs where there are tables and chairs, enough room for a lot of people and possibly depending on the numbers a free buffet. We are close to the dancefloor, the entertainment is always good in Madness and if we are there from 7.30/8pm then it won't be too busy (doesn't usually get busy till the pubs close) whoever wants to stay late can be there till 3am and the ones who want to go on to other clubs such as Club 30 and the Savoy!!! (lol) can leave to go there whenever they want.

This was the 2nd offer

Meet at a central point in Glasgow for a future meet maybe - especially if those numbers were to attend another meet - would be ideal for a Bingo Hall to hold that amount of peeps in comfort and safety.

Idea is to meet at a Bingo Hall at the Glasgow Quay (central to Glasgow area) http://www.donowdo.com/Bingo-Halls/Mecca-Bingo-Glasgow-G5-8NP.htm

Can arrange to have an area of the club reserved for POF members
Be good to play some bingo (FUN)- a chance of winning some cash -
(this could be a good -ice breaker- for most peeps to have a good talking point)

Also when the bingo was finished 9.30pm ish - could arrange to keep the bar open to a set time 12pm (need to check the clubs licence timings)

And also be able to supply a free buffet - free karaoke and anything else that you think would help the meet work

Can I also just say to people that ANYONE can host a meet in Glasgow. I've been asked by loads of people if I will host the next one, and I am, would really like to organise something every month, and with the summer approaching fast the meets won't always be in pubs/clubs, will try to host outdoor meets and family days also.

If someone wants to host their own meet then by all means feel free to do so, you won't be stepping on my toes lol....i'll come to yours and you can come to mine the more the merrier

scrummy the only thing about a meet on a friday night is that some of us have to travel down to glasgow, and by the time we have finished work it's not really giving us much time, i would prefer a sat night to be honest,

I thought somewhere quieter, where we wouldn't have to shout in each others' earhole. Upstairs at the Crystal Palace is good, you can have the music and dance up there and for those who want to talk to each other without shouting or to have a civilised conversation there is the downstairs area. It would be ideal for those who want to dance and those who don't and want to chat.
It may be a way for catering for a range of tastes.

I know I'm a comerin but can I just say, don't try to cater for everyone at one meet. There is obviously the interest for one or more meets and not everyone likes the same stuff.

There may be scope for several small local meets in quiet pubs, less travelling see, and not the expense of booking a room. It's good if there is the option to go clubbing after for those that want to.

Is there anyone in Argyll? I'm bringing my lady up on holiday late May and wouldn't mind whileing away an evening in a pub with a few fish as a sort of Mini Meet, don't know where though, we will be touring.

What ever you book I'm sure a few folk will turn up, probably hundreds, keep up the good work.

edit, There is a posibility of a trip to the Great Glen for us in August, is Loch Ness near there?

i agree with caz something once a month, but my only concern would be we might end up milking it dry and the numbers would fall away . may be not at the start but later i think they would.a fancy dress guys go as girls girls go as guys. anyone got a 48 inch bra i could borrow

Which is another reason why it is always good to have lots of meets in all areas, that way people can attend a meet local to them.

A whole range of different meets also helps as not everyone has the same interests.

Smaller meets can also be arranged for a meal or something, these are generally posted with short notice which keeps the number of attendees lower.

Different hosts, different venues, different types of meets ensure that events are kept interesting.

If Aquaplane can make requests so shall I, I need an excuse to visit Loch Ness...

I think if you want to accomodate the numbers and get somewhere exclusively for "fishes" then the mainstream pubs and clubs are a non starter, especially on a Saturday night in any of the major cities so you might be better looking at a hotel with function facilities, lots of hotels will provide entertainment eg. band or disco and by being a "fishes only" night it should make the meeting and mingeling thing a lot easier.
And as a suggestion for a theme for the night...how about a simple masked ball type do.
Just an idea.
