As you can see on profiles with pictures and your emails there is now a option to reply with a Voicemail.

1. SMS messages only work in the US at the moment I believe. (Every provider works differently outside the US, some may work)

2. The dropdowns in your contact/phonebook allow you to redirect calls to either your cell phone or leave a voice mail in your POF inbox.

3. At no point in time will anyone know your real phone number. If you want to call someone a fake phone number is generated. If the recieving user doesn't have an account or they are routing calls to their inbox you can only leave a voice mail. All voice mails will show up in their plentyoffish Inbox.

4. To signup for this, click on a user you want to leave a voice mail, either from the Leave a voicemail link on their profile or from the link provided when you are reading a message from them and follow the instructions.

5. Currently phone activation is a long distance call but it lasts only 5 to 8 seconds. Calls to other users etc should all be local calls if you are in a major city.

If the recieving user has added you to their contacts and set calls to be fowarded to their phone you will connect with them live. (think of it as a fancy conference call system)

There are no charges for the system. But you will be charged your standard fees by the phone companies if you are calling a long distance number or are sending SMS's etc.

I just tried testing this too, and it doesn't seem to work for me either.

-------------------------------------------

Assuming it should be working, (or will be working soon), I'd like to know if we will have an option to turn this feature off, or limit it to our favorite's only?

I sent a voice mail to a friend on POF using this new system and he received a notice in his in box that was programmer lingo and I received the media task bar in my sent box so I was able to listen to my voicemail which I sent to him, but he was not able to listen to it......I think your programmer got things backwards somewhere...... lol
It is a great idea though and very clever! Hope they can work out the bugs in the system soon!

I tried it. I was able to go into "sent" and hear the message I sent him. He hasn't logged on yet so don't know if he's gotten it correctly or not.

One question...what the hey is "SMS"???

Thanks for this new feature! It'll be interesting to see how often it is utilized and if it adds to the experience or not.

the moderators get on everyones case for not putting these threads in the proper places. It sounds like you are an admin so what does this have to do with dating.

Yeah this confuses the hell out of me. Anytime I call a number I get a busy signal or it just hangs up on me. Are all of the kinks worked out of it yet? If not, then you shouldn't be introducing it yet until it actually works for everyone. Also, a better explanation of how to use it would be greatly appreciated.

I tried to sent a message to my friend down the road but it said I would have to pay long distance charges for the number I was told to dial.

4. To signup for this, click on a user you want to leave a voice mail, either from the Leave a voicemail link on their profile or from the link provided when you are reading a message from them and follow the instructions.

There will probably be "teething" problems, it's a new feature/lateā„¢

Nice feature!

Wouldn't it be cool if we could do "voice" profiles?! No more typos!

I have a problem with it - tried putting my number in (it's a VOIP number), and the Jangl system rejected it. So I wanted to change it to my cell phone number, but now it won't let me fill in another phone number, just sort of fades into the 800 number to call and the PIN to enter before I can fill anything in.

I have the same problem....only I put my cell phone number in. But you HAVE to put a 1 in front of your number....which I didn't do....and now it won't let me go back and change. I went to the jangl website and tried to find a solution, but nothing. I have received a voicemail from a friend, but am unable to send them because of my mistake with the number
