Within the Shadow could One strain to see Mangled mimes disguised as beautiful bards hindered with amnesia attempting to convey Tragedy gone awry by a happy Ending – thus Fiction was Born.
Where Darkness is thy friend And Light thy fiend – ultra nemesis. Spoken in Greek with raised brow Thru the broken beak of a crow Lost in a rainbow crowned maelstrom Every ounce of nothingness falls to the burnt barren earth Like rain in a wormhole spawned by spurned lust.

| Rainbow Crowned Maelstrom Posted: 2/13/2008 12:04:48 PM | Howdy coddles, I saw where you had an interest in the Norse pantheon and thought you might enjoy the following (which i usually dont post publically due to the rhetorical stance of it, but alas you would have the foreknowledge to appreciate). anyhow here it goes:
Composing Lost Hymns Future Martyrs Already Plead
Bleed for the living, and die for the dead transcending the mortal coil. An ashen spear splits the Veil, and bends the Web of Wyrd as tho thrust down from Valhalla for the Norns abandoned, find Ur’s Well barren. Late for the Council, Ragnarok has passed And Fenrir jowls remain Hungry for his Feast upon Odin was never delivered and the Halls are still full of Warriors drunk on mead.
I am still unsure on the title, and dont think its completed yet, but nonetheless its a good start I think.

| Rainbow Crowned Maelstrom Posted: 2/20/2008 8:25:11 AM | Greeting Lunar. To follow was post #2 on this page but it somehow got deleted (the one NaW and you responded to) I've got clearance from Trapped to repost it so here tis (again). It was written for this thread and subject matter so it kinda doesnt go anywhere else. Norse Lore. As you are also familiar with the Nordic epics and gods of old (and as you had since written ) I'm sure the story and characters will be well known to you.
Rainbow Crowned Maelstrom Posted: 2/13/2008 6:00:10 AM
The Maelstrom...hmmmm...have written on this very thing many a time Nasty place
Yon blackness well known to those with eyes to see Known to gods and those birthed at oceans knee Black writhing oily slickened sickening worm Heavy gutted blight of gravity borne menace
But dwells he not within the maelstrom
Crow or raven, crooked beak or not Laughs as fly between the worlds Belonging to neither Sadness is the price he has to pay Doomed to play his tricks in either world Gods merely tolerate him Humans do not see Cannot know The likes of he Of Loki
But dwells he not within the maelstrom
This nothingness of which you speak It cannot fall It merely and very simply *is* And ever was And ever will be Had footsteps marked your way to there And given you leave return (yes through the maelstrom) Then known would be the fallacy of a Fallen Nothingness?
For in the great nothingness...where dwells all Is all Which is nothing After all Which in itself is Everything
How can it fall? This place where time itself Does not exist When time be ground by gravity And gravity be bound by the blackness Upon which some minions ride
Happy endings indeed a fallacy A haven made for fools and cowards both Those who have not held the sword And rushed to bloody death Embracing all that, over which great honor does still preside
Courage to face all that life (and death) may (and do) hold Grasping the rose in bloodied hands As thorns rip and tear and render flesh to weeping pulp LIFE But dipping still the nose to taste the nectar sweet Yes life
Grasp the Rose Fear not the thorns And dwell not within the maelstrom Should you one day face The Place Where all things dwell
The nothingness

| Rainbow Crowned Maelstrom Posted: 2/20/2008 8:29:57 AM | And this was the post that responded to your last post just before the whole thing went splat (also cleared with Trapped)
Rainbow Crowned Maelstrom Posted: 2/13/2008 6 32 PM Thanks NaW And well spake Lunar I see you know your lore... Kinsmen [unwithered] sit silent in Halls Feasting [as is their right] well earned Spears not spared their limbs and are Well known to the gods And in Valhalla dwell Warriors each and slow to rise The Call unheard [as yet] Ur's Well is dry for those mere pass But the key brings waters sweet Ragnarok's yet to be born Dear Odin sees though, signs Yes Fenrir walks and strife is rife So ancient those designs Time yet belongs to earthly realms In Halls see warriors' smiles They know their worth and with joy and mirth You'll yet see the Norsemen rise.... Really enjoying the writes Lunar I'll keep a lookout for more Great Stuff!

I dunno, shoot me a email and it should then circumvent the block. | Rainbow Crowned Maelstrom Posted: 2/20/2008 9:27:29 PM | Wilco. And re not a perv? Oh bugga! I thought for a minute I'd got lucky Norsemen always welkomme min venn
In days of yore when long ships straked the seas And battles fought and none sank to their knees When scholars and ancients walked still hand in hand And JOY beheld in each day...born then was a man
Thrust from womb of mortal, virgin breath was deep No wailing call was heard from him and for days he beheld not sleep Instead his keen eyes swept all that surrounded First keening cry the hounds of Hella bounded [to his side]
A legend born with locks already long This viking babe already knew the ancients' songs Born in him, knowledge dwelled, from fathers realm Thus born, destiny set, to stand at long ships helm
(c) *champrins* 21 Feb 2008
Gotta luv legends eh! Happy to help if I can in any way...I'll toss you an email and see if that gets past whatever is still blocking.
|
| Rainbow Crowned Maelstrom Posted: 2/20/2008 10:41:10 PM | WOW! Love the closing stanza, but I must raise a question Jax. : Born in him, knowledge dwelled - poetic yes, but correct me if i am wrong, didnt Odin have to sacrifice one of his eyes into the Well of Ur, or well of ancient knowledge (via one of the crows whose names i cant recall) in order to gain his sixth sense or insight into Migrad?
and in response to not a perv LOL - a perv no, but a descendant of the Norse who still carries a sturdy Sword - YES. LOL Your a riot gal, keep the good writes comin. Unfortunately thats all the poetry I really have on that particualr topic, tons on other socio political rants and deranged macabre in general. hmmm u might just be muse enough to get me writting on that genre again. LOL. \
take care, enjoyed. peace, adrian.

| Rainbow Crowned Maelstrom Posted: 2/20/2008 10:46:42 PM | Box of Souls Part I – A Revealing of Contents
Hear the Visitor inside the Chanting Wall Laughing wickedly, eerie cackling Noone heads his Call Spirits cry in shame A Broken Box of Twisted Souls (Warped Malice bound but not fully contained) They are raked across the Coals Unleashed only to Complete the Maze As factors of, not actors who can What once was Now is no more I hold the Key, but they are the Door So shake the Bag, Spill the Bones, Destination – Forever Unknown…
Box of Souls Part II – A Closing of Contents
So the Wind howls, The Dust stirs, And I CUT OUT HIS TONGUE ! He laughs wickedly NO MORE

| Rainbow Crowned Maelstrom Posted: 2/20/2008 10:59:46 PM | Ah yes! But Odin [as walker] and who sometimes visits this realm in human form, and takes the odd lover here and there [and has also been betrayed - I'm sure you know the epic of which I speak] has some 'kin' floating around the place.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ From mortals birthed and yet Sipped from cup of mead fore milk hath touch-ed lips As such the 'musings' of the old ones carried forth And buried deep within the blood..though still as mortals...walk ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The well from which he drank and the eye given signifies that there is ALWAYS a price to pay...for knowledge. And if not prepared to pay the price...in full....the well lay empty, sipping..merely dust.
There is an element of magic and trickery (see ref to Loki who flies between the worlds) whereby some will come to believe they have drunk of knowledge (and become drunk on that fact as well) but...
Anyhoo...hoping we can mutually muse each other here perhaps
Thy sword be blessed And as warrior known to gods who dwell But rarely tell May it mostly lay...at rest
Nice to see some other kinsmen back on the boards PARTAY TIME! The Vikings rise*
*jax* | |
|
| Rainbow Crowned Maelstrom Posted: 2/20/2008 11:06:32 PM | Aha! You snuck in post 13 before I got mine posted. WELL SPAKE!!!!!!!! Nice one!
Strangely we both had those elements of 'dust' in what we wrote Praps the muses have heard us after all?
I 'felt' what you wrote Old Muse is Godt Muse?
Looking forward to reading more Really enjoying this thread....
|
| Rainbow Crowned Maelstrom Posted: 2/21/2008 3:26:10 AM | ohhhh yes mam, amuse indeed Jax, as well as enlighten. Tis a great pleasure to find like kin. Vikings rise indeed. May your Horn always be full and your bed ner empty!
and yes I stand corrected. i assumed u were speaking of the One eyed one directly not of his misbegotten offspring. And why is it, no matter what polytheistic pantheon one delves into, the gods and demi gods are always boinkin the mortals? lol
and do u remember the names of his two crows and two wolves. it eludes me and im havin trouble relocating that site i used to go to that was so indepth. Most just give a weak overview.
| Rainbow Crowned Maelstrom Posted: 2/21/2008 3:33:00 AM | Amused by the Muse she beckons me hither into the realms of dusky thought plucking the strings of an oaken harp | |
|
| Rainbow Crowned Maelstrom Posted: 2/21/2008 5:06:14 AM | Indeed they are always "boinkin the humans"
But the allure of the whitest thigh And praps that 'innocence' is high Or p'raps they simply get bored and like to play.... Mayhap monotonous being a god....for an ever eternal day
Confined by time and gravity This place, this realm we tred Means all things change, what a tempting range For the AllFather and those he's bred
There are more than a few animals associated with Har (the one eyed). Some of which are the wolf, the raven, and the dragon (wyrm). Beasts of battle, death, and spiritual wisdom.
Of course you will also be familiar with Galdrfadhir - Our muse perhaps?
His snitches (if you like..or maybe spies...that fly between the worlds) are the two ravens representing both 'thought' and 'memory' (praps try a google on those 2 aspects for the names - I will not call them) His two companions, the wolves Freki and Geri. His steed of course being Sleipnir.
At times you may hear The thunderous passage Of Sleipnir crossing the clouds His eight legs pounding The heavens should quake For its Grimnir delivers the shrouds
The Warrior The Seer The Poet
| Rainbow Crowned Maelstrom Posted: 2/21/2008 10:42:05 PM | "boinkin the humans" lol sounds like a bad elvis costello song dont it. Sleipnir I always thought to be one of the most interesting mythological creatures concieved. I wish I still that piece of artwork I found in west virginia portraying Odin astride Sleipnir amidst a tempestuous sky. Was a killer meditation piece during shroom season back in the day. anyhow enough ramblin and on to the next one:
Half In Exile Pt. II (In a Hammock of Ill Flesh)
| Rainbow Crowned Maelstrom Posted: 2/21/2008 11:32:05 PM | That my friend is nothing short of brilliant... You've seamlessly worked in so many probablities..then aspects and....it just flows The dymanics of three twice expounded And the rhythm of the closing five
I am totally awed and yes...the maelstrom
just....wow
I think I actually know the portrait of which you speak. I'll see if I can find it for you. Of course there are many. It might not be the same one but your words brought one to mind. And so.. I shall descend and search the catacombs. See what I can come up with.
Thanks for the compliment. But, I would have never posted anything here if I didn't think your thread was full of literary passion and good poets alike. A warm place is good company.
| Rainbow Crowned Maelstrom Posted: 2/22/2008 12:36:59 PM | Well welcome aboard the crazy train Byron, greatly looking forward to reading more of your Wyrdkraft. "Come on in, the show's about to begin. Have you seen your birth, your death, and all the rest..." - J. Morrison looks like the Maelstrom is about all the fiercly more estranged. | |
| Rainbow Crowned Maelstrom Posted: 2/23/2008 12:40:49 AM | HAIL THOR And let your mighty arm now swing And Hurl the might of ancients
Slight of wing?
Yes even the gods themselves know perils near When THOR picks up his hammer
DEATH is here
