How many Floridian POFer's are without power due to a Nuclear Reactor
Shut down at a Power Plant just outside of Miami?

News broadcasts in Canada say is may be some ten hours before the
power is fully restored. Although if your power is off, there would
be no way for you to respond to this thread.

Once again, America gets screwed by its power network. A switch gets thrown in Ohio, and NYC goes dark. Its a terrorist dream--strike where the Homeland Security cash doesn't go, and reach your target anyway.

unfortunately, its why the search for non-petroleum power can only go so far...America needs to update its infrastructure.

But speaking of nuclear plants...they need water to cool. What happens down south, where they are running low in Atlanta and trying to siphon water from other aquifers?

Yep...the power grid in this country is poor shape.
And it's going to get worse.

People haven't passed needed bond issues to upgrade and replace portions of it.
Companies have concentrated more on making money than making electricity.
And there hasn't been a push to get people trained on how to work on power systems.

I'm a skilled trades foreman and I can tell you that it would take 10-15 years to get enough people in the pipeline to replace the people that will be leaving in the next five.
And this is w/ updates in technology.

Bottom Line: Ignoring any of the above was bad.
Having ignored all three is setting this country up for a "perfect storm."
Hate to use so many cliches...but the worst is yet to come
