I'm moving from Palm Coast to Jax and not only do I not see anything posted about anything going on in the area, come to think of it I don't think I ever have! Jax has TONS of stuff going on on any given weekend so I'm hoping some of you will check and in and let the rest of us know what you've chosen to do on a weekend in Jax. I'm sure we could get some events together.

How about 57 Heaven in Orange Park for starters?

Every time someone tries to get a POF event going in the area it never gets off the ground..... which seems odd as there always seems to be something going on in or around Jax. I think the biggest hurdles have been that Jax is so spread out and finding something/somewhere that would appeal to a large age span.

I belong to quite a few social groups through meetup dot com. Dining out, wine tasting, travel, books, religion, politics etc. There is a group for just about anything you could find yourself interested in.

I will keep watching this thread..... maybe this will be the time something actually happens!

Thanks for throwing your names in the hat ladies. As soon as I get settled and find some great places (maybe you have some suggestions?) I'll talk it up with the owners and see what kind of deals we can get for a POF event.

Failing interest in an event, we can surely get a Jax Single Club together like a bunch of us did in Palm Coast. We do all sorts of things as a group and always have fun. I'm going to have the group come to Jax and they'll all be crashing at my house! Sounds like a party already. WooHoo!

Have you been to Billy's Boat house?
It is a bit far for OP but it seems a great meeting spot. open, outdoors, live music, Food all the elements you would need. Parking is rough tho.

Billy's Boat House: No, never heard of it but I'll google it and check it out.

Thanks, Camping Queen!

I lived in that area for 2 years. I tried to get something going, but, nobody seemed interested. Being a large city in square miles, nobody wanted to travel anywhere to meet. Good luck LOL

I don't mind driving a bit... I live outside Jax so it is something I would have to do anyway... it is finding something that interests the large demographic that is POF...

Undaunted. I lived here in 2006-2007 and joined another (local) dating site that had events from Orange Park to the Beach and people did show up so I know they will. It just needs to be well planned and organized. Since there is already so much to do on the weekends here it would probably be good to do something during the week to get the party started. We do things about 3 times a week in Palm Coast and it usually includes at least one weekend night.

Stay tuned.

Yes, you did list an event. You copied and pasted the invite that you received from the Jacksonville Happy Hour Meetup. Trying to make it look like something you are planning for POF is pretty sketchy....

Lynch's...on St Patricks Day?

That's got to be a zoo, or a bloody bucket depending on the time.

The only time I've ever been there, some guy walked off with my keys by accident.

Fortunately my 'date' got his roomate's phone number and he brought my keys back.

I copied it from Lynch's web site, not the meetup. I live 5 blocks from there and thought it would be a good idea. the Happy Heetup isnt meeting till7pm, by then you wont be able to get in the door. I advertised for 11am when the doors open. Pretty sad you assumed the wrong thing spotusername

Well would anyone be interested in a fun night of bowling? I see it does okay in central florida. We could schedule one here in Jacksonville if enough people wanted too

Okay KeahiFire. You're on! Know of any alleys that advertise "Moonlight Bowling"? Since Jax is so big we could hit them in various areas if you like. I'm not there yet - still looking for a place - so how about those of you who are checking with your local alley?

Perhaps you could call and find out if we could reserve some alleys side by side on a particular night at a particular time?

there are many bowling alleys that allow bowling. Saturday nights might be the best bet. They have cosmic bowling so there wil be music which isnt that bad. Beach Bowl at the Beaches and Bowl America Southside on beach Blvd are two bowling centers that have room. A preferred date is what is being needed now. It doesnt have to be a saturday. Now myself I work every friday night so I cannot help on a friday.

Keahi: could you pm me those phone numbers?

Jax POFers, any interest? We could make it a daytime (Sat/Sun) or weeknight event even.

is any one still interested in getting together? single people looking to meet and greet?
If anyone else is interested in forming a group to go to events, party, bowl, go to the beach...movies...whatever we can think of. Jax is full of fun things to do. St Augustine is close...there is so much to do...we just need to organize and move forward!

You're right about Jax being so large....if something was planned in the middle section of Jax, perhaps the Southside area, you might get more people. I would love to meet new people since I am not from Jax and just haven't had the opportunity to meet others.....it has been difficult for me to make aquaintances......

I'm looking at trying to host a get-together one Sunday afternoon here in Jacksonville Beach.

The Comfort Inn on 1st St and 14th has live music Sunday afternoons from 2-5 PM on their outside deck bar. You are a sand dune away from the beach, the crowd seems to be mainly in the 20's to late 30's but the deck bar is family friendly (from 8-88) so folks can enjoy the ocean, enjoy some music and maybe meet some new people. (Besides, everyone says that they enjoy walks on the beach.) An outside shower and restrooms are also present. Oh, and the beach bar is partially covered, for that 3:30 rain shower that will inevitably pass through.

My thoughts are to have a free raffle for a few massage or spa gift certificates, as well as have some info on fun 'date' ideas... say flyers/coupons from places like Dave and Busters, Adventure Landing or kayaking tours.

Any thoughts on this???

One of the La Napoleras around town might be a good place to go, or at least it could be a starting point.

Good Idea! There are quite a few Sunday afternoon bands at bar/grills. For example, reggae at OC, in town a few places as well... but back to your Comfort Inn idea. Keep it going...

Also, jax events that have been done before would no doubt draw a crowd again. For example, bowling or dancing. Maybe even make it a regular gathering. For the newbies and people like me who hadn’t noticed the events button. Like the kayak event last weekend!

How many from jax plan to go to the Trenton, Heart Springs by the way?
