| Conjunctivitis in both eyes! Posted: 2/28/2008 10:48:28 PM | Wow...I have never had conjunctivitis (pink eye)...not even as a kid...until now. I have had it for the past 2 1/2 weeks in both eyes! I know that's a bit long...but I'll explain. I went to the doctor initially after having it for 4 days. It didn't go away completely...but it did get better for a few days. I thought it was clearling up. Then...it got progressively worse (even more than when it first started). So...after 3 basic physicians, 1 ER physician, 3 eye medications, & finally today...an opthalmologist...I have an answer. I am allergic to all the medications I was on! As my best friend put it "Allergic to the cure? Classic." I can't wait for the swelling in my face to go down...LOL! Anyway...has anyone else EVER gone thorugh or heard of this?! I surely feel as though I am the only one. | |

| Conjunctivitis in both eyes! Posted: 2/29/2008 12:38:39 PM | Nikki, Conjunctivitis does have numerous cause's. Among them, allergie's to med's, or hayfever, which I have both. Lately, some med's I was taking was causing it, as well as chest symptom's, my eye's felt like they had rock's in em!! RED galore! Changing med's solved it, although the new blood pressure med I am now taking doe's seem to dry out my eye's just a little. I recommend everyone pick up a book called "EARL MINDELL'S VITAMIN BIBLE GUIDE", it will help you I'm sure. It is easy to utilize, and can help you see where solution's to different nagging thing's are related to poor nutrition, allergy being only one. Use it like a phone book, look up what part is bothering you, he show's how to quickly resolve problem's in a natural manner. Eye's..bring's to mind VITAMIN "A", for example, yet there may well be other nutrient's which matter also. Watch those MED'S!!!If you have ANY ALLERGIES, you quite possibly are in for some SURPRISES with med's, as I sure was! Vitamin "C"...check into it...it is a "natural ANTIHISTAMINE"! This is very helpful to me, really cut down on my sensitivities to allergy. Earl Mindell resolved NUMEROUS problem's for me, where doctor's FAILED! GOOD LUCK!! | |

| Conjunctivitis in both eyes! Posted: 2/29/2008 2:12:28 PM | If it were me I would ask the Doc to do a blood test to check the sed rate, RA factor, and test for the HLA B 27 antigen. They most likely have already done this so don't sweat this post much. If not, ask them too.
Do you have any other symptoms with the conjunctivitis? Sore joints, headache or fever?

| Conjunctivitis in both eyes! Posted: 2/29/2008 3:04:55 PM | get another opinion. you may also want to make sure you don't have some sort of virus hiding out somewhere.
when my cat gets this conjunctivitis, i make a tea out of goldenseal. go to an herb shop and get a bottle of goldenseal capsules. they should have a strong smell and ain intense yellow shade. break one open and dissolve it in a cup of boiling water. let it cool and strain it at least 5 times. you don't want any grit in there. use a dropper to drizzle it in the eye. take a few of the capsules orally as well.

I think I would skip the golden seal in the eye suggestion.

the cat's eyes are far more sensitive than a human's. i've used it myself and have clients who used it for children. goldenseal hss natural antibiotic activity.
keep in mind that the fda did approve olestra. their credibility is nil.

| Conjunctivitis in both eyes! Posted: 2/29/2008 7:55:24 PM | Hmmm sounds fishy to me. If you had used it on yourself and others why would you just mention the cat in the first post. The OP did not ask a question about a pet.
I think maybe you are making some stuff up. Just a guess.
It is nice to know you are better at medicinal testing than the FDA, good thing you have you own cat to test stuff on, LOL.
bwahahahahahaha
this forum cracks me up.

| Conjunctivitis in both eyes! Posted: 3/2/2008 6:16:29 PM | Meteor & Shurite...thank you so much for your advice & suggestions. I am FINALLY almost better (knock on wood). Once I stopped the antibiotics, everything started improving. I am still on antiinflamatory drops for a week longer, but my eyes & face are almost back to normal! Thanks again for the input! | |

| Conjunctivitis in both eyes! Posted: 3/3/2008 12:34:53 PM | | I have used goldenseal for conjunctivitus in my eyes. A roomate of mine got it & proceeded to contaminate the house. I got it & knocked it out w/ goldenseal in a single treatment. He wouldn't use it & suffered for 3 weeks until I threatened him if I caught it again! I was going on the 3rd round & getting tired of it. He used it once & got rid of it as well. However, I use the alcohol free tincture form. I fill an eyewash cup half full of the tincture (liquid) & the other half of the cup with tepid water. Rinse out my eyes with it one good time & I'm done! | |

| Conjunctivitis in both eyes! Posted: 3/3/2008 7:32:11 PM | it's good stuff. very effective and quite safe. you have to make sure you don't use any white towels that you really care about because it will stain. but other than that, i've had no problem with it.
colloidal silver helps with eye problems too. i like it because it doesn't stain and it has no flavor. so you can easily use it topically as well as orally.

| Conjunctivitis in both eyes! Posted: 3/3/2008 10:54:33 PM | colloidal silver does help, can confirm with own experience :) its a natural anti microbial which may kill the buggers causing the conjunctivitis
A doctor may also prescribe corticosteroids if its severe enough (don't worry, drugs applied to the eye have little access to systemic blood flow, so very minimal amounts get into the rest of your system)
I have used both on separate occasions, and they both work great.
