Are you always right?

When engaged in a debate with others do you always feel you are right or can your opinion change from reading other posts? I've just posted on a thread and put what I felt on the subject and read another post which differed from my opinion which I also agreed with, I realise that some situations can be viewed from different angles but I dont mind admitting if my mind has been altered.

So do you always feel you are right or can you be swayed?

I don't think i'm always right. I take into consideration other people's points when in a debate. But, if i feel strongly against something i will fight my corner. Well don't we all?
I will also admit if i am wrong.
We all have differing experiences/opinions. I do think though, how can someone comment about an event (whether it be a serious thing or not) and how someone should feel, if they have never gone through the experience themselves?

However, i'm not one to follow 'the same herd' so to speak!

having different opinions doesnt mean one person is right and one is wrong...

Like you say its just a different perspective....

On another slant because something happens doesnt necessairly mean somone is at fault..things just happen at times for no apparent reason.

Can the person ive been having a discussion with recently please read this lol

Hi Sprite.

One of the reasons that I like the forums are that there are certain posts that challenge my beliefs about something. I can change my viewpoint, and yes there are no absolute truths and you can have differing opinion on one thing if you view it from a different angle.

Most of the time I am right and I don't even know how I manage to be so perfect but there you are, it's just the way it is and I am coping well thank you.

I really enjoy it when other people write something which is so right and I wish I had thought of ..it's fun but rare and I always write and tell them they are great.

well if you think your always right then your probably really arrogant........

I dont know if im always right,a lot of the things discussed on here dont often have defined right or wrong answers. I was under the impression that was why they get debated upon.I'ts all about perspective, preferences and life experience that help to make our opinions, bearing in mind we all have differing ones then I guess a lot of the time there really are no right or wrong answers when considering the individual.............(i hope that made sense!)

I can be swayed and I do get swayed. But generally I stick to my guns.

no, I am not always right..it's the others who are always wrong...
There are more sides to an argument, being able to perceive and accept different perspectives is great. Not necessarily one has to embrace or advocate them.
Right?!

I am not always right but it is rare for me to change my mind on something. I just accept that my opinion differs from than the others.

In some things there is a definitive right and wrong but many don't and like the op said it just depends on your view.

i have my own idea's about things, and my own way of coming to an opinion..

generally i will offer up my opinion, and continue to believe in my own way of thinking, but i'm not closed off to being shown a different slant.

usually though, even though i can see someone else's point of view, and understand why they think the way they do, i still prefer to stick to my own way of thinking.

If I post, I believe what I'm saying is right, obviously.

I haven't had my mind completely changed by other posters but I have seen things from a different perspective due to some posts.

There are other posts that I see where the poster seems to have only one thing to say, whatever the topic of debate. In those cases it's obvious that that poster will never change my mind.

Nahhh !!!... I'm not always right...... but I am entitled to my opinion and I probably won't argue.... life's too short to sweat the small stuff.

I'm pretty open minded ... and if I'm not right .... well maybe I won't tell you !!!
I'll just think on it.

i do believe we think we are right otherwise we wouldnt so passionately state our arguement etc.. doesnt mean we are totally right and many a time i stop and think oh yeah good point... but to make our point we have to be passionate about it. My views do change.. well, not totally, but i will think about something i hadnt noticed.. such as harry being selfish putting others in risk more... i hadnt thought about it like that before.. I will also admit when im defeated or wrong...

but as princess fee points out.. ask me when im pmt'd... you would dare even question me then

I accept that a debate goes far better in the flesh. A bottle of something intoxicating liberates all parties, and a handshake or hug at the end (regardless of the conclusion) feels better than the feeling that the debate has been won, imo.

I can't fault you, sir.

The forum style of debate can be a bit stilted, due to time delays etc. It's more fun for me when a debate moves and evolves than when there is intractable ranting, especially when the intractable ones start insulting anyone that has an opinion that differs from their own.
I don't care what politics a poster adopts or supports as long as they can explain their thinking. Pooh-poohing anybody else's views doesn't do that IMO.

Nope and i don't believe any one can always be....when making a decision/opinion i always try to play devils advocate with myself first before going public with my thoughts.

I used to think I was always right, and still do but living with 2 other people who think they're always right has changed my perspective on the whole matter, now I just know I'm always right but wont always voice my opinion, and just let them think they're right.
