| | Automatic censorship [Closed Thread]Page 1 of 1 | Since we're all adults here, automatic censorship of text content of messages seems inappropriate. It certainly has the strange and unintended consequence of sometimes making innocent comments seem obscene. I've made mention of "cocktail peanuts" in an normal context and it comes out "****tail", which seems to give the normal context a more sinister meaning. The same about a discussion of flying. I used the term "cockpit" and it reads "****pit". Hmmmmm.
I think this silly policy needs some rethinking. We're not children here and the results have been worse than the problem you're trying to fix.

| Automatic censorship Posted: 3/3/2008 8:27:33 AM | When you enter a site you are entering some one else's space and you either abide by their rules or you leave. Even though it's only virtual/electronic you have still entered the site owner's premises. In this case that is also the literal truth, too, since he still runs it out of his apartment.
Across the web I don't know why so many people don't understand that. If you think it is so easy then go ahead and start your own site.
