| Does anyone remember Fuzzy Wuzzy Bear Soap? Posted: 3/4/2008 7:04:40 PM | When I was a little varmit... I begged for this Fuzzy Wuzzy Bear soap...but now I can't find a single living witness. Does anyone here remember? I think you got it wet then left it in the dark and it grew a coat of mold or something And Fuzzy had a little toy inside like a little whisle.
Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear, Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair…..until you washed with him to make his fur grow!

| Does anyone remember Fuzzy Wuzzy Bear Soap? Posted: 3/4/2008 8:12:06 PM | I’m may be old, but my brain isn’t so fuzzy that I’d forget Fuzzy Wuzzy soap. Yes, I remember the soap. It grew “fur”, but perhaps nowadays they’d call it bacteria. They had little “surprises” inside them, too (probably penicillin). | |

| Does anyone remember Fuzzy Wuzzy Bear Soap? Posted: 3/4/2008 9:43:16 PM | I loved that soap! It was such a cute little bear. I hated when my mom made me use it, but then you had to keep using it so you could get the surprise inside. I think they had little plastic charm type things inside.
That is funny, I never thought about what fuzz probably was...ewww...lol...

| Does anyone remember Fuzzy Wuzzy Bear Soap? Posted: 3/4/2008 11:15:22 PM | Yeah, I can vaguely remember some kinda fuzzy soap ... soap on a rope, dippity-doo and somethin called greasy kids-stuff that I used to glue down my Alfalfa style cowlick ...*boing*
Fuzzy Wuzzy probably never had a chance to grow much hair if he had a toy inside ... cause one of us eight kids would have stomped it out of him in five minutes.
"Yard Jarts" (steel spiked) ... now that was an interesting concept for us kids to explore; Where our less than superb throwing ability and underdeveloped judgment ... versus, our luck after we throw them straight up as high as we can and lose them in the sun.

| Does anyone remember Fuzzy Wuzzy Bear Soap? Posted: 3/5/2008 12:17:28 AM | I remember the jingle; it was one of the great ones of the era, like the ones for Trouble and Slinky
Interesting the jingle was derived from an earlier poem - ref. Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuzzy_Wuzzy
Fuzzy Wuzzy was the term used by British colonial soldiers for the nineteenth century Hadendoa warriors supporting the Sudanese Mahdi. The name "Fuzzy Wuzzy" may be purely English in origin, or it may incorporate some sort of Arabic pun (possibly based on ghazī, "warrior"). It alludes to their butter-matted hair which gave them a "fuzzy" look. Fuzzy Wuzzies are remembered today primarily for a popular English children's rhyme, and for a poem by Rudyard Kipling.

| Does anyone remember Fuzzy Wuzzy Bear Soap? Posted: 3/5/2008 2:15:46 AM | Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear, a fuzzy bear was he. When Fuzzy Wuzzy lost his hair, he wasn't fuzzy was-he (wuzzy).
I remember hearing this often as a kid growing up, though to be honest I don't know its origins.

| Does anyone remember Fuzzy Wuzzy Bear Soap? Posted: 7/11/2008 6:36:33 PM | Never knew it was a soap!
On one of our visits up to Cincinnatti to visit relatives I was introduced to a little girl they called Fuzzy Wuzzy. We were about 5 years old. She had a head of hair that she could have easily turned into dreads today.
The older kids started saying the ryhme (which I thought was very cleaver...but she had hair, so I couldn't see the connection). I get it! and I'm a brunette!!!!
It seemed the rhym hurt her feelings. So, I just took her by the hand and we had a great time together. Stupid older kids.

| Does anyone remember Fuzzy Wuzzy Bear Soap? Posted: 7/11/2008 9:39:21 PM | OMG that is so hilarious! You are funny you have made me laugh a bunch of times in forum threads lol
I've never heard of it before but I just googled it and found the same page about it that someone had linked here. That's a genius idea to put a prize inside soap to make kids wash their hands more.
I've never seen anything like that today. I'd love to buy some for my niece. I'm sure I could probably make something like that. They sell soap-making kits and you can make bars of soap using herbs and molds. All you have to do is make a couple molds so that the soap is hollow inside and you can stuff a prize inside. Something small like gumball machine size.

For some reason, someone asked me about getting dishes and towels in laundry detergent when we were kids. I had forgotten all about that. Ah....the times when you used to get something for free! How nice!
