I have a question or suggestion - when I want to see what has been said after I have added a comment, how can I find it. I go to my forums, find the forum I posted in and when I got to that forum I am brought to page one of that topic instead of where I had actually posted. Can you help?

or can it be done without tracking the thread?

thanks for your help!

Tracking your Thread is about the best Call, and its exactly what is was designed for, which marks specific Webpages in Threads.

There is another Method by adding the POST ID after the URL, separated by a the # Symbol and then Bookmarking it, but that takes too much Time, thus not practical unless you are only tracking 1 Thread and very lengthy Posts.

The URL of this Thread is: http://forums.plentyoffish.com/datingPosts9495657.aspx

The ID of this Post is: 9495861

The Link to this Webpage and this particular Post would be:

http://forums.plentyoffish.com/datingPosts9495657.aspx#9495861

For threads with more numerous pages of replies, when you go to "my forums" and see the list of forum threads you participated in:
click on the page number of the thread, rather than on the title of the thread.

This will take you to that specific page, rather than to page 1.

So, is there an easy way to "view unread posts" in a thread that you've replied to?

Most forums I visit have a view unread posts or view last post button.

OK, thanks! Actually, that kinda sucks doesn't it? Has anyone found a way to track their posts? If someone responds to what you've said you have no way of knowing, or responding back.

What's the purpose of tracking threads or being subscribed to one then? What's the purpose of My forums?

The little icon for view last post is there but it doesn't work. Someone should activate it. eh? Is there something I'm missing here?

The way this forum is set up now makes it impossible to use properly. There should be a view last post, view posts since last visit, or view unread posts button. IMHO!

  1. My Forums is simply a way to track the last 5o threads you've participated in a descending chronological order.

  2. Tracked Threads is to keep track of only the ones you are really interested in (same as above sort order) - whether you've posted to them or not.

Either list will have a Last Posted column showing the username and time - simply an indication of who and when it was last posted to - obvious to say that if your username isn't the one, then someone has posted to it subsequent to you (excluding the case of Tracked threads where you're only watching).

Granted it's not perfect for the occasional user who doesn't frequent the forums on a daily basis, but for the frequent flyers, it has been working as they keep pretty good mental tabs on where to pick up on the more important threads they've contributed to.

This isn't to knock your suggestion as to a marker to where you posted to last, as it would be excellent, but more a case of just the way it is with most things here and only one "coder".
