| Little Rooms Inside
Posted: 3/12/2008 2:16:03 AM | I awoke that morning like any other. Slipping out from under the covers on the same side of the bed, which I have always slept, the other side empty. It has been empty now for ten years. I’ve tried to sleep in the middle of it, but for some reason I always awake on…my side.
Often upon waking I lie there, and look at that other side. That empty side…your side.
It reminds me of that other empty place I have inside myself. It’s always been there, and most likely will always be there. It is your place after all. I know that no one will ever reside there for that very reason. It’s yours.
I have other places inside which are also empty, but not because they have held another, but because they are simply waiting to be filled by others. By memories, by ups and downs. We all have those places inside us that are empty and waiting to be filled. Each different and unique in their own special way. They are what make us who we are, and help mold us.
It’s okay to have those places inside ourselves, where others reside. It’s okay to take a peek in them and remember. We just have to remind ourselves we don’t live there anymore. That they are from another time, and it’s okay to take a look back, as they will always be a part of us for the rest of our lives. But they are separate from the here and now. We cannot live in the past.
They make us the whole person that we are today, and will, from time to time, creep back into the here and now. Not to hurt us, but remind us of where we come from.
Remember we all have those empty places inside us waiting to be filled, and cherish the ones we already have there.
Just open your heart and mind to all possibilities. I did, and it’s a wonderful thing! | |
