| Refilled ink cartridges Posted: 3/12/2008 7:55:12 AM | | Just bought some refilled ink cartridges for my Lexmark printer on ebay. The instructions say ignore any messages which say they are empty but my printer is telling me that the cartridges have not been inserted so wont print anything. Contacted supplier who told me to read the instructions again. Any ideas? | |

looks like your supplier is suggesting you rtfm which in turn suggests getting a refund is going to be tough
How much do the lexmark cartridges cost out of interest as compared to the refilled ones ?
running a print test and trying to print the test page is something you have done ?

| Refilled ink cartridges Posted: 3/12/2008 8:53:59 AM | | I paid £16.48 for the photo cartridge and colour which is really good. I think it's over £20 for the colour alone if you buy them at sainsburys although I think you can get them cheaper online. I ran a print test which was ok but since then it's telling me to insert the cartridges. I shall try cleaning them. Some ink may have spilt onto the chips. | |

But they also use a "chip resetter" to tell the PC that the cartridges are full again. You can even refill the original cartridges the same way.

| Refilled ink cartridges Posted: 3/12/2008 1:48:11 PM | what are the part #'s for the carts? and how long did the carts sit before you refilled them? cause there's a sponge in them that if let sit for more then 2-3 days dries up and the cart is not usable anymore. I use nothing but refill kits on my lexmark x3350 been doing so for over a year. | |

| Refilled ink cartridges Posted: 3/16/2008 8:40:06 AM | | Sometimes the electronics will go out on the cartridges, that may be why your printer isn't recognizing them. I do ink and toner refills for a living and honestly wouldn't use new ones any more. Depending on what cartridges they are, some of the newer ones can't be refilled the printer will burn out the electronics in it. You may also want to try taking rubbing alcohol and a q-tip to clean the electronics in your printer and on the cartridge. Honestly, I haven't heard many good stories about buying refills from the internet, but since I'm in the business I'm sure I only hear the bad stuff at the store. If anyone has any more questions about refills or printers they can email me. Good Luck! | |

| Refilled ink cartridges Posted: 3/17/2008 10:39:07 PM | Hi Sprite 57
I had the same problem with refill cartridges purchased on ebay. Sounds like you may have purchased from the same seller as I did.
Go back to the site and check the seller's feedback to see if anyone else has had the same problem, and then file a dispute with eBay. You only have 45 days from the date of purchase to do so or you won't be able to get your money back. Hopefully, you used Paypal for the transaction.
I would also email the seller one more time, and request your money back - keep all of your email communication, because ebay will ask for contact proof.
There are some really great sellers on ebay, but there are also some really bad ones. These are the ones ebay is trying to get rid of. Too many people just let it go, thinking as you do, that you have lost your money, or think that you will get negative feedback by complaining. Ebay has new rules, just in effect this month. They want you to complain - that's the only way they know who is scamming the public.
I have been a seller on ebay for 4 years. The fact that the seller told you, up front, to ignore the messages, is a clear sign that this must be happening to a lot of his/her customers. Tell ebay!!!
Hope this was of some help to you.

| Refilled ink cartridges Posted: 3/18/2008 2:22:00 AM | | Thanks dixie. His feedback was 99.9% positive but he did have a written sheet which came with the cartridges which told me to ignore any messages which said they were empty. I left a negative feedback, not sure how long Ive had them but I didnt use them immediately as I still had some ink in the old ones. They are useless as my printer thinks I havent inserted them so wont print anything. Oh well, live and learn. I shall buy new in future I think. | |

| Refilled ink cartridges Posted: 3/19/2008 9:13:51 AM | | Yes he's not interested and told me to read the instructions that came with them. I just got some freebies from a lady who works in a cartridge factory that I speak to on an other forum. They work fine and I will buy some more off her next time. | |
