| Its all for charity! Posted: 3/14/2008 12:28:04 PM | Well actually it isnt...
Watching sports relief at the moment and all the celebs and stars are entertaining us so that hopefully we (ie the joe public..ie you as im too posh) give money to this charity. Now i have lots of questions ref this, firstly im glad they do it because im a firm believer that if its not in the public eye its forgotten..wether its starving people in africa, global conflict, natural disasters or home grown horrors like cancer etc.
So...i just have some basic questions...How much does it cost to put on one of these shows? (Most of them are salaried by BBC or give their time for free..) but top hotels/support staff/refreshment etc cost...so how much profit is actually made?
Also been hearing on Radio 1 about phoning in which costs you £1 + network charge...yep 64p may only go to the charity...so where does the rest go?
And is Sport Relief the same as Red nose day or is it different charities etc? Why cant they just group there resources together and get rid of the top managers which will save the charity a good few hundred grand etc.
Any questions about money raised for charity?..
Actually had lots more questions but a bright light is taking my attention away...

I'm not certain though so probably shouldn't have answered.

Most of the money the UK sends ends up being spent on new Mercedes anyways.
How much does the rest of Europe/Rest of the World send?
Why live in a country with no rain? and then **** about the fact you got nothing to eat, just seems kinda stupid to me. Still, why not come to the UK! We'll GIVE you everything you want for free, for ever!

| Its all for charity! Posted: 3/14/2008 4:48:44 PM | F*** charity
Government should pay for things that need paying. Christ knows we are hit with enough taxes. They've plenty of money for missles and bullets to aim at innocent people abroad and lining their own slimey pockets. Sorry, giving to charity aids and abets government in evading their moral duty.

Quite alot of people have cottoned on to this already, I bet they partied for a whole year when they got to join the EU!
I will give to charity for things I deem important to me, such as blind/deaf children, cancer research and the RSPCA. I will not donate to countries such as Africa as most of that money is squandered by it's government, I have no objection to sending food to them or things like clothes.

Posted: 3/14/2008 5:42:16 PM | | When I used to get approached by the cancer charity collectors giving it "DOOO something for cancer", I replied I do, everyday I do, and a shit load more than you pal. (Well, when I worked in cancer services anyway). Bugger off with your buckets.

| Its all for charity! Posted: 3/15/2008 12:44:34 AM | For those of us who do donate to charities we can only hope our monies are being used wisely . Some years ago my dad considered giving his time to a charity as a collector in supermarkets until he was told that at the end of the day, should he wish to , he could take out expenses for travelling and food before handing over any monies collected. Where's the charity in that I ask ? I choose to do my bit by donating through my salary | |
|
| Its all for charity! Posted: 3/15/2008 2:29:48 AM | | I only donate to local Charities that I have looked into and feel secure in the fact that the monies are used correctly. | |

I've just been to my local supermarket where the Royal British Legion were collecting, however the collection was a little different, not cash. They were asking people to buy an extra item or two to fill shoe boxes to send to the troops abroad. I thought that was a lovely thing to do. I know the things I bought will go directly to the troops, no % removed for overheads or for flash presenters.

the legion do a lot for troops and helped me in the past which im extremly gratefull but shows how much the government treats our troops.
